Perhaps the best kept culinary secret for those seeking breakfast or lunch La Cocina should be on every Yumans radar! There is a refinement to La Cocina and yet it's a relaxed environment with lovely contemporary Hispanic instrumental music. An outdoor patio offers Second floor views of what keeps Agriculture epic. Today newly planted fields were being watered with sprinklers and others beyond were fresh with new green! Look to the west and the view is of a proud Arizona community with lush tree tops rising above. Care has been taken in the decor of this comfortable establishment quite suitable for a casual ladies brunch or a business lunch. Chips and salsa are served in an elevated manner from what we have come to expect. Place settings are clean and glassware l The menu offers lighter versions of Rellenos, tacos and tortilla and lettuce wraps even Burgers! Slices of cake are ample, cheesecake and tiramisu are also available! Tuna tacos were the special but as I am a big fan of Rellenos the Au Gratin Tuna Chili Rellenos appealed to me. Never in a million years would I have combined my mothers tuna salad recipe minus pickles with Ortega style green chilies. A salad of lettuce and two thick slices of tomatoes were dressed with a delicate oil and vinegar combo. I might not order this dish again but it was light and yummy. The Sowthwestern Chicken Salad with a double baked potato sounded yummy too! Starbucks beverages are featured and the prices for coffee beverages are excellent! (And I'm not a fan of Starbucks) Meet Candy when you dine! The story of La Cocina will touch your heart as it did mine! Oh... be sure to order an espresso with your Dessert!

I then watched them put to-go orders up on the counter, one after another, for the next 35 minutes and calling names for people to come and pick up their orders, without hearing my name. Finally, I went up and asked about my order that I had placed 35 minutes previously. They pulled my order up from under the counter and swore to me that they had been calling my name. Honestly, I felt Gringoed. Not cool! I will not be going back ever again and will be steering all of my fellow workmates and friends away from this place. Also, the place has only been open a few months and already is looking bad. Down around the baseboards, by the doorway, on the way to the restroom, which I did not use, was filthy. Last note: The Burrito was not awful, but nothing to write a good review about. Uninspiring taste, considering I paid $13.50 for it. And the guys that are preparing them are right on the other side of the customer counter having conversations with the counter customers as they work. So everyone's burritos and tacos are getting breathed on by both the employees and the customers at the counter as they prepare them. I'll stick with Monster Taco, thank you not so much.

Service was ok, staff not super welcoming but not rude or dismissive. Would help to have a menu board or menus at the door, they are at the register and have to navigate people ordering or servers taking out food to get one. We had the queso taco, vampire taco and quesadilla, tried asada and Aquila. Aquila had a good taste to it, asada was ok, not very seasoned, hopped supper fine and with good portion, for the tortilla they are using. Red salsa on the table was fantastic, green sauce good but not great. Did order grilled Serrano peppers and onions which they forgot to bring out and had to go ask for them. Overall, nice place, decent food, good prices, not enough for me to return, as nothing I can't get at any taco stand in Yuma.

Known for their Al Pastor, the popular taco truck has gained a healthy following. But, the new restaurant will definitely grow their fan base. The restaurant is clean with ample seating. They have two large screens on either side of the dining room and the service is as expected. The Perez Family are hard working, and dedicated to keeping true to their family's recipes. I couldn't decide which taco to get so I got one of each. Their Al Pastor, Chorizo, lengua, and Bistek were amazing. And their salsa is insanely delicious.

They are a food cart located in a parking lot out side of Elena's clothing store. They have 4 nice sized tables set up on the far right of the parking lot up against the wall. If you don't want to eat there, though I recommend it as part of the experience, they do offer the option of taking your food to-go. They have a nice menu with plenty of options. I went with a carne asada taco and a quesadilla chilanga. The quesadilla was made with Monterey cheese, carne asada, and roasted chili. I ate it with the complimentary guac and hot salsa and it was amazing! The roasted chili was smokey and it went well with the carne. The tortilla on the outside was nice and crispy. It was such a good quesadilla. I have been wanting to go back to get another one. The carne asada taco, unfortunately, did not stand out like the quesadilla did. The meat on the taco was dry, which was strange since it was probably the same carne asada as inside the quesadilla, which had good moisture. My guess would be the fat from the cheese in the quesadilla may have possibly prevented it from drying out on the grill or new meat was cooked for my quesadilla. The flavors of the taco were still good but nothing that I have not had before or anything that really stood out. This place is definitely worth a try while you are out and about or visiting Somerton.

That's the best possible word for my experiences! The impeccable experience was from beginning to end a delight. Beautifully executed to elevate the circumstances of its students from not just a cooking school.. but a well rounded culinary, food safety curriculum aiming to guide participants even through the hiring process. The menu takes into consideration a broad palate to appeal to many! Diabetic friendly options abound which many of us need! Nothing is by accident! While I would like to have tried several entrees I opted for a tuna Relleno trio. Now that combination of flavors and textures was a surprise. It was good nutrition. I realized it was actually a dish I could replicate at home perhaps including a few additions like finely diced bell peppers in red yellow or Orange to the filling! Perhaps some red onion as well atop the melted cheese draped over each Relleno. Not a typical regional Relleno but a healthy one indeed! Tiramisu..... I craved an espresso on the side to quickly dunk it in! Still frozen.... Delicious but here again not at all typical! I've got to hand it to the Candie and Amanda and all others who might be considered as contributors to the creation of this Culinary and Community Gem! Being here elevated my soul! And I pray that for many years it sets a high bar in the mission serving fellow man.... Elegantly Elevating their vision from depths of dispair!

Nov, 2025. Yuma, AZ. My husband and I were traveling between Palm Springs, CA and Tucson, AZ, and…read morewe decided to eat lunch in Yuma as this was roughly the half-way point on our journey. Given the proximity of Yuma to Mexico, we decided that we wanted to eat "authentic" Mexican food. We then turned to Yelp to identify Mexican restaurants with good reviews and in close proximity to I-8, which is what brought us to Tacos Mi Rancho. The restaurant was easy to find, but every single parking space was already taken; we were able to park on the adjacent side street for free and without incident. The restaurant was busy but there were a few small tables for two available. We were greeted promptly by our friendly waitress, and we were given menus and she took our drink orders. Another server immediately brought a bowl of tortilla chips and tasty salsa (gratis). My husband and I both ordered from the "Senior Citizen Portions" menu for those aged 62 Years and Older. All entrees include beans, rice, and salad for $12.50. (Note that the entrees that we selected, as well as some other menu offerings and pozole, are on special on Friday's, the day that we visited. They were $10.99 each). My husband ordered #11, two chicken enchiladas, while I got the #12, one chili relleno/one rolled taco. I also got a horchata (a sweet and creamy non-alcoholic beverage made primarily from rice, cinnamon, and vanilla), which was served in a huge glass with ice; no refills ($3.99). We split our entrees, and all of the food was well-portioned and tasty. We felt that the meals were a good value. We were also pleasantly surprised to find that the tastes were similar to those at our local Mexican restaurant back home in Virginia. The restaurant is in an old, nondescript building, but is tastefully decorated with a Mexican theme. It was clean, and workers wiped down the tables immediately after patrons left. One pet peeve was that the final bill that was given to us included only the total, so it was difficult to know whether it was correct or not. The total was $28.67, before taxes. We were able to reproduce this total as: 2 entrees at $10.99 each + 1 horchata ($3.99) + Yuma and Arizona taxes ($2.70, @ 10.41%). Overall rating: 4.5, rounded up to 5.0.
