Watching an experienced tortilla maker work is reason enough to visit. Her hands seemed to have a…read morerhythm and memory of their own, effortlessly transforming simple dough into beautifully rolled flour tortillas. It's the kind of craftsmanship that's becoming increasingly rare and deserves genuine appreciation. Unfortunately, the finished product didn't quite live up to the performance. While the tortillas were fresh, they lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. They seemed light on either salt or fat, perhaps intentionally for a healthier approach, but the result was a tortilla that tasted muted. There was also a slight grittiness to the texture. I'm used to flour tortillas with a rich, savory flavor that are satisfying enough to enjoy on their own. We ordered several burritos, and while they were certainly good, they never crossed into memorable. Like the tortillas themselves, the fillings could have benefited from a bit more richness and seasoning to create a more satisfying bite. One small disappointment was the beverage selection. I would have appreciated the option of ordering a smaller drink. My jamaica was refreshing but considerably sweeter than I prefer. Then again, perhaps the old saying is true--everything really is bigger in Texas. As someone passing through rather than a local Texan from El Paso, I'm glad I experienced it once, if only to watch the artistry of those handmade tortillas. While the meal was enjoyable, it wasn't compelling enough to make me seek it out again.

First time eating from Rita's Burritos and we won't be coming back. We went through the drive thru…read morefor a quick bite at lunch. Simple order of one carne asada and one chili relleno burrito. My carne asada had little flavor, was overcooked, and was just meat inside a tortilla with no onion, cilantro, or salsa. The worst part was they gave us a different burrito from the chili relleno we ordered. Ok, this is simple enough mistake in a busy drive thru so my girlfriend walked in to correct the order. The people inside were rude and said "we were lucky to get another one (burrito)". They made the mistake and we are LUCKY to get it corrected. With so many good Mexican food options in El Paso just pass on Rita's Burritos and go elsewhere.

We keep coming back…read more El Paso is not short of taco joints, and Taqueria Ay Cocula is a dependable one. We go as a family to their hard stand off Mesa on the West Side, but they have a food truck on Fort. Bliss too. I love their quesobirria. On this trip , I tried something I have been wanting to try for awhile, the birria ramen. It's ramen and birria in the birria consume. It comes in a bowl and is loaded with birria. I tossed some cilantro, onions, and avocado in there and it was amazing. The server came and checked on us regularly, but I wouldn't say it was spectacular. They were nice though, and made sure to ask if we wanted more. Another thing I like is Taqueria AC has pretty good aguas frescas. Liz ordered their pina colada agua fresca. That comes loaded with whipped cream and pineapple chunks. The ambiance is kinda divey, but it's definitely safe. Parking is limited. We love their taco Tuesday specials, and we will return.

I was starving when i got here. Nice and patient service. First time here so i had a few questions…read more I got the quesabirria order (4tacos), birria tacos (4 tacos) and 1 taco de asada, 2 pepino limon drinks= total 49.60. I dont know if i was supposed to get toppings but i did not get any. I was expecting cilantro, onion, etc. and the 4$ carne asada was skimpy and dire need of toppings. We took it to go and didnt check the bag. ‍The birria tacos were great even without the toppings. The juice was so flavorful. Plus, since we at home, we fixed them up with more toppings. Not a real difference between quesabirria and regular birria tacos. Quesabirria had a tiny bit of cheese. The drinks were delicious! Now i went on a Thursday and that 4$ taco was tiny! BUT apparently they have mon-Wednesday special of buy 1 get 1 free and if it had been 2$, it would have been reasonable. If you come here, come on Monday- Wednesday!

Such a great little Northeast hidden gem!…read more I found Hilda's Tamales after an AI workshop nearby because I randomly wanted tamales, and I'm so glad I did. The ladies working there were incredibly sweet and patient with me while I attempted to order my entire meal in Spanish. I'm pretty sure my grammar was questionable, but they understood me! We ordered carne asada burritos, a chile relleno burrito, a carne asada torta, half a dozen red tamales, and a watermelon agua fresca. Everything was around $40, which was an amazing deal for the amount of food we got. The tamales were SO good. Moist, flavorful, and a really good meat-to-masa ratio. My father-in-law ended up eating most of them! My husband loved the torta, and the salsas were really good too. The ladies were also just genuinely kind. While I was waiting, we started talking about the Buy El Paso Rewards program, and I ended up helping connect them with the City so they could learn more about participating. I love finding small, family-run places like this. Great food, great prices, and really sweet people. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in Northeast El Paso!
