When a side dish that usually gets barely a mention becomes a highlight, that tells you something about the care and quality coming out of the kitchen. That care carried all the way through dessert--we finished with a wonderful cactus pear sorbet. Authentic food, attention to the little things, and Maria was fantastic. She deserves a special mention for making our visit that much better. All this in an old Taco Bell building. There's something pretty great about that. This joint is well worth a visit. Come hungry, save room for dessert, and pay attention to those black beans.

The enchiladas, rice, and beans were so yummy and flavorful. The rolled tacos were nice and crispy filled with chicken. They came with fresh toppings and a black bean sauce that was an incredible twist to my typical dipping sauce. Nonetheless, a perfect combination that I will want again and again. The carne asada tacos and sopes were both good as well. The carne asada was full of flavor and juicy tender. Service: The lady at the counter was very sweet. I placed my order for pick up via door dash and waited for my order outside because I had my dog with me. She was kind enough to bring my order outside for me and was generous with offering the extra sope. Thank you! Ambience: Cute little place with some indoor and outdoor seating. Small place, but mighty in taste.

Luckily we didn't need to drive far before we spotted this carniceria. Its parking lot was pretty full with many cars coming and going, which indicated that it was open. The store sold a variety of meat and snacks, much as what you'd expect from any other carniceria. But most people were here for the taqueria portion - you could get a box of cooked meat to go for ~$13-17 per pound, which was a pretty good deal. There were some tables inside the taqueria, but they were slightly dirty, and most people were just taking their food to go. We got a few quesadillas to share. They were huge and stuffed with well-seasoned chicken breast meat, and came with sides of rice and beans, or salad and avocado. The free salsa here was SPICY, and my mouth burned for a bit after consuming it. But overall the food was excellent and we left full and happy.

The ladies that usually work here are never rude, but this new guy needs to get a new job asap he's going to hurt their business by making the regular customers mad and being rude to them when the ask for literally ONE thing.

What really made this visit special, though, was the service. I wasn't feeling my best when we arrived, but the woman helping us was amazing. I didn't ask her name, and I actually regret that now because she deserves to be recognized. Sometimes great service can genuinely change someone's day, and she definitely did that for me. I think we just came on an off night and understaffed because our experience was nothing like the reviews. First issue was I ordered a fountain drink. I was told it's out and they are switching the syrup refills I waited for about 20 minutes for the soda and then When I got it the mixture was off and completely flat. Our food took about 40 minutes. Our 3 year old child was getting antsy. For such a small restaurant I'm not sure why it took so long to get the food out. The host was also the server, busser, cashier and did everything. The vibe felt off. The other customers were either waiting for their food, or refills, or to go boxes or their bill and none of it was getting handled. My burrito was fine. 7/10 but wife's chile relleno was a 4/10. While I want to give them the benefit of the doubt I can't say we will ever be going back. I've never been so anxious to get out of a restaurant.

When I say the food came out fast, I mean FAST, especially for food this fresh. The wait staff was attentive, friendly, and checked in just enough without being overbearing. The aguachile was honestly one of the best I've had. The green sauce was incredibly flavorful, perfectly balanced, and everything tasted fresh and vibrant. The molcajete supreme did not disappoint. The sauce was rich and delicious, and the portion of carne and shrimp was generous and very satisfying. You can tell care goes into the food here.
