Family owned and operated, Mom, Dad and Son.. Chavinda taqueria is a small taco shop, seating is limited with six two person tables and six four person tables. The menu has tacos, burritos, rice and beans. Even though the menu is small it gets super busy as the locals know this is the place to eat. Burritos usually run out by 12/1pm leaving only tacos by themselves or the taco plate that comes with rice and beans. For choices of meat- Chavindas serves asada, carnitas. cabeza and I believe that is it. There are two beverage coolers- one with beers and the other has sodas and bottled water both coolers keep the drinks ice cold. The food here is cooked, chopped, grated and made with love every morning and thru out the day. The burrito has rice, beans, cheese- I believe cheddar, choice of meat, there homemade salsa, cilantro and onions. I have asked for two kinds of meat in the same burrito and they will not sell it like that, just so you know ahead of time. Sometimes the restaurant opens a little later than the posted hours. Also the restaurant closes down for two weeks a year as the family who owns the business travels to Chavinda, Mexico for vacation. When I want a great burrito I come here for sure. My favorites are the burritos- carne asada or carnitas and the freshly cooked salsa. The busy time slot here is from just after opening to 1pm, you can call in your order though. Prices are very good. Limited parking in front, but plenty out on the street. I will definitely stay a customer here. read more

This review is way way over due! So as mentioned by other reviewers, this place is really a hidden gem in Madera. If you are coming down "D" street and blink you will miss it. However Madera natives know exact where to come for fantastic food. I was born and raised in Madera and the only place that my family would resort too for Mexican food. I have eaten at this place for more than 25 years and the food quality has not changed. Whenever I am in town, I definitely make time to come enjoy a ginormous delicious burrito. The family that runs this place is very nice and always greet with warm smile. The restaurant is small and way over due for makeover, but the quality/consistency of the food makes up for it. Between the hours of 11:30-2 it does get really packed in there; get there early to get a seat. Parking sometimes is a pain too. Every person that I have introduced to this restaurant gets hooked like a cracked head (lol). The food is that damn good! As you can see from the photos the $5.50 Burritos are literally bigger than the plates served on and filled with rice, beans, cheese, salsa, onion, cilantro and your specialty choice of meat: Carnitas, Asada, Cabeza. Same goes for the Especial combo plate. No outside drinks are allowed inside but there are plenty of canned sodas or beer to choose from. Tacos are really good. Customer service is friendly when your there. Don't ever call and ask for 30+ tacos because they will never pick up your calls ever again! I have a large family so we get 30 sometimes 30+ tacos and even when we've called 1hr or an 1 1/2 hours before they close ( multiple calls btw) they'll sometimes answer and say the are about to close. It sucks having to recourse to friends to get half an order for us so that we may get our tacos. This should not be happening. I personally am offended that large families are being discriminated by this. read more

The food is "ok" however, their customer service... THE WORST. I waited about 50 minutes for three tacos. My order was taken as soon as I walked in. My hour lunch was almost over, so I asked the lady if my tacos were ready. I got the worst attitude from her. Then the older man in the back wants to jump in and also put in his two cents..... at that point the lady had my tacos in her hand and laughed and said she could toss them away and that she didn't care about me being a paying customer.
