Found out about Dos Carnales on the SAFoodies page on Facebook. Thank you, SAFoodies. Simple Ambiance in this case it's all about the food and the service. The service: Incredibly attentive from the moment we walked in, quick to seat... get our drink order and then consistent follow up from almost the entire staff.... everything ok, you need anything... refreshingly rare. But the food... so many options as you can see by the photos of the menu. My first go to for a Mexican restaurant is always the cheese enchiladas. Are they good? Gooey cheese is my favorite over cheddar etc.... (I know i know) so I ordered the Nacogdoches plate to also sample their beef fajitas (beef or chicken were options) Fajitas were plentiful and delicious. My food friend who went with, ordered the Burrito stuffed with Asada, rice, beans... and topped with boiling hot cheese and red sauce.... (hopefully the video comes through) Looking good. Food was okay. Friendly service. You seat yourself and pay at counter when you are done. I really wanted to get the chicharron with guacamole but that item was pretty pricey for $25. I liked their hottest salsa the orange one the most. The first basket of chips and salsa they gave you is free anything after is a charge. They also sell Tropicana brand paletas if you want a sweet treat after a meal. read more

I've been going to this place since they were a food truck up the road. This place is definitely top 3 of the best Mexican food places on this side of town. Plates are FULL and you can't beat the price for all the food you get. The waitresses can sometimes be very attentive and others you have to go call them over because they haven't stopped by to check in. It does get very very busy on Friday evenings. Arrive early so that you are guaranteed a parking spot. Parking is on the smaller side so make sure to arrive early. read more

Their service is not the greatest. Asked for salsa several times for my food. I finally received it after I finish eating my food. They were also supposed to bring us a small sample of their Menudo, and they brought it once the end of the meal. When the maneuver arrived at our table, it's not like armpits, which leads me to believe that the tribe was not clean correctly. Well, the food was decent, just needed to add salt. Went for the first time yesterday. It was hot inside with only a few fans on and the waitress had a hard time understanding what we wanted and had to bring someone over a few times to help (it was not a language issue). The food was ok and the restaurant was clean but I don't think I will be back. read more

The restaurant is very good! We got the 15 mini tacos family meal with asada and al pastor. It was a good price and came with so many toppings, excellent guacamole, rice, and beans. They also have daily specials. read more

Authentic Mexican restaurant with so many food options. We had a party of 9 and service was great! They were able to accommodate us with no wait time. We ordered biria tacos, carne asada street tacos, shrimp cocktail, a molcajete, and a few other entres. The Tortillas were homade and the salsas were delicious! My fiancé and I tried Dos Carnales and we are very happy we did! We called in an order of al pastor and asada mini tacos, plus I had a quesadilla. First off, the customer service was outstanding. When I called in the order, the lady who answered was extremely friendly and made placing the order easy; she was patient with my questions. I asked for extra salsa, and when we arrived, she greeted us with the same friendliness and had everything ready -- including the extra hot salsa in the bag. That type of service makes it easy to happily leave a tip because it feels well deserved. Now the food -- absolutely delicious! The mini tacos were flavorful and fresh, and the quesadilla hit the spot. The hot salsa was incredible, especially the red salsa -- it packed a punch but just the right amount of spice. The combos also included a Serrano pepper and onions.. the pepper was very spicy, but that is why you take a bite out a pepper- for the heat! Portion sizes were great, and generous-- worth the price for sure! Everything tasted like it was made fresh with cariño! Great portions, great service, great food. We will definitely be coming back! Loved it! Really good food and greta deals. 15 tacos with rice and beans included as well as chips and guacamole or 20 without sounds great to me. Three of us shared that and the fourth got a torta which they said was pretty good as well. The bread was super soft and they would've preferred a bit more of a balance between the bread to meat ratio but overall pretty good. Service was pretty quick and plenty of outdoor only seating. Would definitely come back again considering the environment and taste of the food! read more

On the lower-upper section of Nacogdoches Road, it seems like there's at least 2 taco joints every block so it creates good competition. This latest food trailer is nestled in a parking lot adjacent to a gas station. Bright yellow and adorned in lights, you can't miss it. They offer tortas, mini tacos, gorditas, quesadillas, or regular tacos, all with various fillings. We opted for the campechana mini tacos that came with a side of frijoles charros. For the mini tacos, the finely diced meats were spot on, and presented beautifully. The small tortillas were lightly cooked so to make them malleable so they could wrap the generous amount of filling around them. Loved the toreado onion and jalapños as well as the radish, cucumber, diced raw onions, cilantro and lime wedges they threw in. The combination of smells from all these together was an pleasant pouncing on our olfactory sense as we opened the to-go container. But what was truly magical, was adding all these vegs to the tacos, creating such delectable taste and textures. The beans, upon opening, looked amazing. Tried them but, to me, they lacked some garlic and salt. No worries, I grabbed me some garlic powder and salt from the pantry and Salt Bae'd them into the cup. Good? My family is always wanting to try new places to eat. I'm glad we found this taco truck! They are right next to Baskin-Robbins & the Chevron gas station on Nacogdoches. It's literally down the street from my house. The customer service is awesome and the food is better!! I love the idea of putting tacos in a pizza box with your choice of three different kinds of meat and a ton of toppings in the middle. It even comes with a quart of charro beans. It's a great $30 meal for a hungry family! This will be one of our go-to places from now on. read more
