I bring my special needs students to eat here every month. They have great patience when my students order and/or have requests. I've been coming here for over 10 plus years, After the pandemic, something happened to this place!! The portions are small they started serving on plastic plates now they're back to ceramic plates, but the portions are still small. If I need extra tortillas, I have to pay for them !! if I want consome with my Birria tacos. I have to pay extra for that!! if I want sour cream on my Chilaquiles, I have to pay extra for that too!! that's ridiculous. Came in during lunch hour and ordered the molcajete--absolutely delicious. The meats were full of flavor, and the chicken was soft and tender. Loved the sautéed onions, grilled jalapeño, and the salsa was perfect--it tied everything together so well. It also came with rice and beans, and I really appreciated that the beans tasted truly homemade. We also had the strawberry agua fresca and it was refreshing and delicious. I have been to other Donez and have always enjoyed their food for their very traditional Mexican tacos. I recently went to the Donez in Downey. I thought I was going to get some tacos of lengua trips niche unfortunately they did not carry none of that there when I asked the ages she looked at me like oh no we do not carry that kind of food but inside I'm like this is a traditional Mexican restaurant. I did order three tacos of Carne Asada. They were very bland. I have to say, the customer service here was excellent--friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the food. I ordered the birria burrito and a couple of the birria tacos, but was disappointed to find that they contained very little meat and were mostly fat. It really took away from the experience, as I had to pick through everything just to try and enjoy my meal.
