Ordered the Birria Burrito and two Queso Tacos. Have had this place on my, list to try, for quite some time. Finally made it by tonight. And it was thoroughly enjoyable. The service was impeccable. My host was a gracias knowledgeable and warm soul that took my order and made me feel at home for the wait as it was prepared. The place was a buzz with plenty of seats and tables taken. Walls adorned with life sized murals of transitioned artists like Vincente Fox Nipsey Hussle Kobe Bryant and Selena Quintanilla. Very welcoming space that was thoroughly clean, including the restroom. All around great restaurant with tasty solid food prepared with satisfaction in mind. The food here is amazing, burritos and tortas are my fave. I have to say though, the staff is very polite and astoundingly helpful as well as friendly. I bring my special needs students to eat here every month. They have great patience when my students order and/or have requests. There is not many places where they can accommodate us, as some of my students can be loud and have moderate intellectual disabilities . So we are incredibly grateful for this place. They treat us with the utmost respect and even assist me with them ordering. All the people complaining about staff being rude are probably rude themselves, you get what you give lol.. . I've been coming here for over 10 plus years, After the pandemic, something happened to this place!! The portions are small they started serving on plastic plates now they're back to ceramic plates, but the portions are still small. If I need extra tortillas, I have to pay for them !! if I want consome with my Birria tacos. I have to pay extra for that!! if I want sour cream on my Chilaquiles, I have to pay extra for that too!! that's ridiculous. Came in during lunch hour and ordered the molcajete--absolutely delicious. The meats were full of flavor, and the chicken was soft and tender. Loved the sautéed onions, grilled jalapeño, and the salsa was perfect--it tied everything together so well. It also came with rice and beans, and I really appreciated that the beans tasted truly homemade. We also had the strawberry agua fresca and it was refreshing and delicious. We ordered pozole this past weekend and it was decent. I felt like the broth was lacking something... we also ordered a side of rice and it was also very bland. The ambiance was coo bc nobody was there but there is music being played like corridos which turnt me up while drinking my miche flight ( 4 flavored drinks for $12 ) you have to drink the flight there in the restaurant but I got the food to go. The service is friendly bc the ladies are sweet and friendly yet they don't know English pretty well so be ready to speak Spanglish or pull out yo translator. The mole is sweet yet not over bearing but it's a great addition to the chicken flautas flavor and crunch. The birria tacos are great. I have been to other Donez and have always enjoyed their food for their very traditional Mexican tacos. I recently went to the Donez in Downey. I thought I was going to get some tacos of lengua trips niche unfortunately they did not carry none of that there when I asked the ages she looked at me like oh no we do not carry that kind of food but inside I'm like this is a traditional Mexican restaurant. I did order three tacos of Carne Asada. They were very bland. They put way too much onions, but they did give you a good amount of meat in each taco will not be going back there, it was not traditional, Mexican. read more

I ordered the birria burrito and a couple of the birria tacos, but was disappointed to find that they contained very little meat and were mostly fat. It really took away from the experience, as I had to pick through everything just to try and enjoy my meal. Great customer service. My mother and I were greeted immediately upon entering with smile and pleasent energy. The cashier that took our order was such a sweet lady.The restaurant was very clean. Another hidden gem in Downey. They are rarely crowded (an effect of Covid and the plandemic). Food is always fresh, hot and on spot. Portion sizes are generous, a good variety on the menu, and of course the Micheladas are the bomb! I like to try different things on menu, and I have yet to be disappointed. Customer service is always great here. So why 4 and not 5? They don't always have certain items such as albondigas or menudo. I understand it takes time to make these, but I've got a 12 year old that LOVES albondigas. And when they run out.... :-(( read more
