I drive past Tacos Coranay all the time otw to Indian Land, and finally stopped in out of curiosity but after one visit, I'm not sure I'd drop in again. The tacos aren't bad by any stretch (let's be honest, tacos are tacos) but they also didn't stand out in a way that makes me excited to go back. I tried: asada, pastor, and campechano... and while each had its own flavor, I didn't find a clear favorite among them. Nothing was unpleasant, but nothing really popped either. The pastor had decent seasoning, the asada was competent, and the campechano was serviceable, but overall they just blended together without a memorable moment. One detail that stood out (and not in a good way) was that all of the tacos I received were served on flour tortillas. I'm not sure if this is standard for all customers or if I just got unlucky that day, but for tacos of that style I would've expected corn tortillas by default. Overall, Tacos Coranay didn't disappoint I guess, but it also didn't exceed expectations. Finally able to try the new store, it is slightly different from the food truck menu. The food is still great, but the menu has more your normal items like quesadillas, tacos, and burritos. The menu is missing my favorite beef tongue, they said they moved the food truck they still served that there. The restaurant is small but clean and comfortable. I've driven by Tacod Coranay many times. I drove by the location when it was a food truck behind the gas BP gas station, and never inquired. Today, I stopped at the gas station to see if the post office was still located inside the BP, and after getting into my car, I saw two women standing behind the restaurant, and bring that I was starving, I decided to hop back into my car, and go check them out. There's patio seating and inside seating as well. The restaurant looked clean. The tables looked clean. I opted to use the kiosk and placed my order. I ordered a steak bowl, a vegetarian bowl, a quesabirria, a pineapple juice, and a bottle of water. The kiosk was a little wonky with the rice choice as it was not visible to see either options. Since I couldn't see what the rice options were, I picked one of each. My husband's vegetarian bowl had rice, and my bowl was rice free. My order was ready for pickup within 10 minutes. I had to ask for my drink. My steak bowl was good. I added the birria sauce yo my bowl, and that took it yo a different level. Guacamole would be a great addition. I shared my bowl with my son, and he liked it. The quesabirria was delicious. My husband said I can buy him food from there again, and coming from him, that's huge. I can't believe it's taken us this long to try out this food truck! The most authentic and fresh tacos I have had in the area! And fully loaded! They are generous with the amount of protein on each taco. Love the topping of grilled onions and fresh cilantro, and fresh veggies! Very disappointed in this food truck establishment next to the BP Station at Hiway 160 & Hiway 521. I had heard good things and read the reviews and they all sounded very positive. Unfortunately, that wasn't my experience. I ordered a single chicken taco. I wanted a flour tortilla but all you get is corn. It was so small. A very tiny bit of chicken with some lettuce and little cilantro. It was barely enough to get a sense of the taste and flavor from. We're not from this area and usually enjoy a good Bojangles sandwich when we're in town, but as we waited to take a turn we saw this taco truck tucked away behind the Exxon gas station. The truck by the gas station I never had an issue with. The new truck by the liquor store the young lady that takes your order has a major attitude problem. You can say "Hello" and she just has this blank stare and will not respond. This has happened to me twice won't be a third time. The food is way better at the location next to the gas station. I asked for breaded chicken twice and she says "chicken" "No breaded chicken" she says "chicken" . Found this taco truck on a whim today when I fired up my yelp app to find lunch! Nayarit is a state in Mexico and honestly, what caught my eye. I had the best tacos of my life in Sayulita, Nayarit and basically lived on tacos for a week when I was there. Based on pics alone, especially the radish, lime AND al pastor tacos? Done. Had to cure my nostalgia! Had a little bit of trouble finding the taco truck based on using google maps. Gave them a call and soon enough, I was here! They're located next to/behind the Gulf gas station on 521. Once you're here, you could never miss it! Massive tent and banner encompassing the tent. I, of course, HAD to order tacos. I went with an al pastor (spicy pork) and a lengua (beef tongue) tacos. Both delicious but definitely al pastor all the way! Also grabbed a torta filled with campechanos (steak and chorizo). Also yummy, but tacos all the way! All dishes come with half of a grilled jalapeño, grilled onions, fresh cucumber and radish. There are sauces on the table or on the truck for you to grab and try! The flavors were so amazing in the al pastor tacos that I didn't want to disrupt the equilibrium by adding additional sauces. I'm ridiculous, I'm aware. Got the tacos al pastor, were to die for! Ate them so fast I didn't get a picture :)! Service from the girl at the window was excellent, quick, & straight to the point. They have the World Cup playing on the tv in a little covered area behind the truck, complete with several tables you can eat at. It seems that they make everything from scratch, from the perfect corn tortillas to their amazing hot sauce! They have diverse menu options as well, I'm really excited to try lengua next time. This is my go to taco truck! The only one that I frequent because they have tacos de tripa! Yes, tripe! And they are delicious! The truck is clean, the service is friendly and fast and the food is made fresh to order, each and every time. In addition to tripe tacos, I get the cabeza (head) taco and the sopes! I've tried the burrito once and it was hearty and filling and reasonably priced. Each taco order comes with grilled onions, a roasted jalapeno, a wedge of lime, radish and green and red hot sauce at about 2 bucks a pop. Get your plate, squeeze some lime on your taco, pour the sauce of your choice, take a bite of taco, a bite of the jalapeno and partake in taco heaven. I end my meal with the radish and a nice cold horchata (they sell that too)! And when your done, go get gas because it's parked right at a gas station near the back. They also have sheltered picnic tables so you don't even have to eat in your car. And if you see those crispy, pinwheel looking things (Chicharoones de Harina/rinds of flour) in the ziploc bag, BUY THEM! Deep fried, light and crunchy! Buy a bag, grab the bottle of hot sauce sitting there, shake, shake, shake it into the bag and eat these while you wait. So good! My stomach is literally growling right now but I can't even go because I am on short term vegan adventure but when it's over....watch out! Until then, have a taco(be adventurous and try tripa or cabeza), an horchata and some Chicharonnes de Harina with hot sauce and thank me later! FYI...Horchata is a ground rice drink that may include spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, ground cocoa, vanilla, etc.. That is all! read more
