One time recently, I tried ordering online, and it would not let me use my coupon - kept saying I needed to add valid items to my cart. I would add different items, and still nothing would work. I went inside and explained the situation. They tried to do the order in the system first before making my order to see if it would work. In any case, I've always loved their specialty, of mixing toppings into the ice cream flavors. I used to visit the Rea Road location frequently in Charlotte, but recently, we stopped into this Kingsley location, and it was quite busy. I just got this small scoop of French Vanilla with Granola and Reese's Peanuts...and it was awesome! They're quite generous with the 1 small scoop, so think twice about going up to medium or large. Part of the Kingsley "center" right off I-77 and Hwy 160. This was one of the many Springs Mill operations. The developers have done a very nice job leaving the basic mill buildings and fixing them up to be clean and modern. A very beautiful collection of shops and facilities, to include a Marriott Courtyard Hotel. Cold Stone Creamery is a chain that we like. This particular location was our first time to try this one. Smaller that we have experiences elsewhere and it seemed to have less ice creams and toppings that we recalled. I could be wrong here, but that was our impression. All the inside tables and chairs were stacked up, so, Corona-style, we were limited to three small metal tables outside. Luckily we scored one for ourselves. Excellent ice cream and you get one topping when ordering a cup. Rich, smooth, tasty and just plain great. Wife had coffee with Heath Bar mixed in. I had my favorite, Sweet Cream, with raspberries and grated coconut. A true pleasure. Cost was right at $10.00. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for and that includes a decent selection for choice. Servers were friendly and helpful. We placed an order online. When my daughter arrived the ice cream was melted. She told the staff & asked them to remake it. They said no. She asked why. An employee-Ella said they couldn't remake it just because it was melted. My daughter tried to reason with Ella but she continued to refuse. My daughter then asked for a refund. Ella refused. So my daughter called to tell me what was going on. I told her to ask for a manager. She said there wasn't a manager & the 3 girls (Ella, Logan, & Collie) working were rude & refused to remake the ice cream or issue a refund. I told her to ask them to get a manager on the phone. Ella called her manager-Allison who refused to deal with the situation stating she didn't talk to customers while off. She told Ella not to remake the ice cream or issue a refund. I asked to speak to one of the employees but they refused to come to the phone. So I went to the store to see if I could resolve the problem in person. Ella was immediately rude & disrespectful. She was smirking & laughing while the other girls wouldn't acknowledge me. I asked Ella for the managers name. She gave it to me. I then asked her to get Allison back on the phone. Ella refused, restating what Allison said earlier. She said I could talk to her tomorrow. I asked what time? She said 12pm. I then asked for the owners name. Ella gave it to me stating he never comes in. I then asked Ella how could we resolve this tonight. It didn't make sense that they were giving us melted ice cream. They should be able to remake it or offer a refund. She stated firmly no that's their policy. I told her that was bad business & customer service. I walked out, leaving the bag on the counter. I then called the fort mill police to see if they could talk some sense into these girls who thought this was a joke. They were stealing from me since they didn't want to offer a solution. The fort mill police went to the store but I had already left after 1 hour. Raja-owner called me to discuss what happened as I was getting home. It's ridiculous that it took calling the police for this to be taken serious. Raja apologized stating their policy is to remake ice cream or issue a refund. I told him this was the most appalling experience ever! I'll NEVER frequent cold stone again. This was a far cry from the happy ice cream experience cold stone offered when employees were kind & sang while making ice cream. Great location, but short on staff so the line is usually a bit long and slow. The young staffers are always in a good mood and friendly, but clearly stressed out and appear to be over-worked. The physical establishment is a bit run-down for being in a new location so not much money/time is being put into maintenance... and I even went one day and they had some freezer break and could not open on-time, on a busy weekend. The staff greets you with big smiles and tangier readiness to make your sundae is exceptional. I've visited this location twice, now. Once in the evening and once during the early opening hours on a Sunday. One visit required constant watch of my friends little boy, but the staff didn't mind him wandering about. Luckily, he was distracted from being too mischievous with a mouthful of ice cream, from time to time. We wrangled him up when other customers arrived, and thankfully, the shop isn't too big and doesn't have much other than a bathroom for him to get into.
