This use to be the spot. Those nachos and carne asada fries were the best. They were even better when the rude ass owner would make them cause she'd be pouring that nice thick milky cheese on top with so much anger. Stingy with the napkins but not the cheese. Times have changed tho haven't been here in a year or so until recently and Charly changed the cheese. The cheese in all the good stuff is that watery kind not the one they used before. The taste of those bomb nachos changed forever. Bring back the milky cheese! Señora! Porque cambio el queso?! read more

Best place for Tortas. Milanesas Tortas SMACK. They also got the little candies to help digestion

LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEE Been going here for years. I always get the carne asada fries or nachos read more

Got my order wrong twice then argued with me about what *I* ordered. It might help them to keep the music down to hear what people are ordering. The carne asada was also dry and hard. My first time here was a really good experience but this will be the last. read more

Bad parking, bad service, but good carne asada nachos and tortas! Make sure you check your order, they have messed up plenty of my orders. Tacos are horrible. They also skimp on the cheese and the meat on the nachos. read more

Bomb asada fries you'll ever have in your life. My go to spot even tho I moved away far

Great chance to brush up on your Spanish, enjoy an authentic, delicious, greasy burrito, and hopefully not get your car scratched. Quick tip: if you're going to come here, carpool in the smallest car because the parking lot is pretty laughable. If possible, I recommend parking on the street and avoiding it entirely. I got the regular carnitas burrito last time. The al pastor is also very good! Get it with chips and don't miss the salsa bar! read more

I've never given an establishment one star but this spot deserved it. Sucks because I reside in Pacas. First time trying their Papas Charly a couple days ago... pffft what a joke! They charged me $8 for an order of fries with barely any carne asada covered in lukewarm nacho cheese. I think it had guacamole, sour cream, some sort of white shredded cheese under the nacho cheese but I can't be certain. I didn't really see it on account of them being stingy. I don't get the hype at all! To top it off, they only had watered-down guacamole and pico de gallo que parecía de lata as salsas on the side. No salsa roja, lemon, rábanos or any other condiments one usually expects at a taco spot.

Location: right across from Ritchie Valens Park. Parking sucks. Not the safest place to be at night. Price: not bad at all. It's about the same price as every other Mexican joint. Food: I came here for their Papas Nachos. As I've mentioned in past reviews, I love carne asada fries, so I got excited to know this place has this. For just the carne asada fries, it totaled to about just under $8, but the portion is HUGE! It has fries, your choice of meat (I chose asada), pico de gallo, beans, sour cream, shredded cheese, and nacho cheese. The first bite was really, "Woah! This is good!" The nacho cheese was really tasty, but after a few more bites, I felt like it started getting a little too heavy for me and I definitely couldn't finish it. Also, the flavor started becoming too much for me; and unfortunately, I paid the price the rest of the day, if you know hat I mean :- /. Also, I noticed there wasn't enough asada. It seemed like for every 3 bites, there would be only one piece of asada. It's a toss-up whether or not I would come back for their other choices on the menu. We'll see in the future. read more

Tacos Charly - Papas Nachos with carne asada. They use both shredded and nacho cheese. - Mexican Near Me - Pacoima, California

It's the best place ever I love their Charlie's nachos Tortadas ... it's the best Mexican place to eat .. read more

This place has some good nachos/asada fries with nacho cheese which is unique and would definitely try it again some time in the future but come on, people are able to tell when you use microwaved meat from the other day and it kind of ruined the food. Now I have to make sure to ask for fresh meat and not old microwaved meat from the other day if I come here again. I recommend asking for fresh meat/ingredients when you come here or at least know you might get old ingredients/ not as fresh food. read more

This spot was actually pretty bomb I would rate a 4 star just because I went for the nachos which is probably the best thing they have there and they don't put the most amount of cheese as a person would like! They were good non the less but they need more cheese! read more

I was sorely disappointed that my carne asada fries were missing the main actor; carne asada. Literally, I had only four bites of carne asada. For over $8, this was a rip off. I kept hoping as I got to the bottom that there was carne asada there but nothing!! Loaded with fries and cheese. I gave it a two becaus husband liked the quesadilla. read more

Tacos Charly - Mexican Near Me - Pacoima, California

Just bought 2 orders of asada fries, and a quesadilla combo. The asada fries nacho cheese was so bitter. Which means that it was not good anymore and they still serve it like that. The old lady in the front is always rude. read more

First time at this restaurant I will say the employees were very nice and welcoming. However carne asada fries were ok. The bottom of the plate with super soggy due to the excessive melted cheese they put over the fries. Also the meat didn't really have much flavor. Definitely looks better in pictures then what it actually is. I will not be going back. Oh yeah they do have really good Horchata that I do recommend. read more

today i wanted 6 sauces for our food we ordered two plate so 3 & 3 each person, the guy up front i don't know his name but he's a lighter color skin tone, he gave me attitude saying i have to pay for the sauces & shook his head & laughed. he's a joke. read more

The nachos de asada are a must have! They use both nacho cheese and queso fresco and that makes for such a tasty combination. The chips are bite size and have just the right crisp. The portion is big enough to feed two people. The asada fries are good too, but I prefer the nachos. read more

Was hoping for delicious nachos but very over priced had a funny smell and lady had a bad attitude when I asked for extra salsa. Bad service will not return read more

Do you ever get those days where you miss something and crave....crave for it??? This little joint is my pick for TACOS in the valley. I love their carne asada tacos more than I realized. I generally get my usual dosage once a week - three carne asada tacos, some chips with salsa, and my horchata. If I don't get it though, man its the pits to go on days end craving wonderfully seasoned meat. The nachos are good too and for you chicken lovers it's pretty decent. I actually have a different locale for chicken tacos though. Nothing like a mexican taco to hit the right spot AND Charlie's sure does it! +++ It's a little place so crowds don't always work. Take out is great though and it tastes just as great a few minutes later.... ***cash ONLY*** read more

To start off food is just bad and service is even worse. I ordered 5 plates and they didn't give me any salsa. When I asked for salsa they gave me 3 small containers which was clearly not enough for everyone. When I requested 2 salsa containers per plate I was ignored. I do not recommend this place at all and I will definitely not be going back. read more

Memories. This is probably the biggest reason I love this place. As a kid growing up in this city in the early 90's it was a little dangerous but that never stopped us from hanging out here and all of us pitching our money together to get charly nachos. The food is still the bomb, customer service is ok, place is clean, parking kind of sucks. Buchés are made on the crunchy side (I like em like that) and carne asada has very little fat. Best of all it's not the Wild West like it used to be if you know what I mean. read more

Delicious bean and rice burrito for lunch! I love their flour tortillas they are always amazing but come on put some more beans in my burrito!! The only thing that sucks is each time I go the burritos are getting smaller and smaller, come on for 6 bucks fill me up! read more

I first came here years ago because a friend told me the nachos were good. Indeed! I recommend the nachos covered in cheese and topped with jalapeños! With of course a side of horchata! The rest of the food such as the tacos and burritos look really great. All the people eating in look to really be enjoying the food. This place also offers a small condiments bar so you can get as much as you want. The parking for here can be a problem because the lot is small and there are a lot of businesses. Great food nonetheless and a friendly staff. Cash only!! read more

The food is good but service is probably one of the worst I've experienced I'm currently sitting in here after I had to come back when realizing they made a mistake on my order when I explained to the lady at the counter she immediately blew up telling me it's my fault for speaking low, soon after another customer told her "I said no onions" and got hassled by counter lady and lady in kitchen saying he was wrong. The horchata was good tho read more

The papas Nachos de Carne asada, are so good. Just had some with my hubby today. At first I didn't think she got my order cause I called , and she asked me in how long I said 15 min. Bomb ass nachos! & a horchata; best combo ever. I've been doing here since 95' & it still hits the spot. Even after moving to Palmdale& now back living in the valley. Love their Papas Nachos! It's so cheesy and just overall good. It's always better to call ahead so you can just pick up your order!

CASH ONLY I went here after my supervisor swore up and down about their nachos. I tried the carne asada nachos, they were pretty good, but I don't like how they mixed nacho cheese with shredded cheese. I like my nachos over flowing with just nacho cheese. But it wasn't too bad, especially since I asked to add avocado. I tried their carne asada tacos. It's about $1.50 each. A little grisly but probably one of the best carne asada tacos around in the San Fernando valley. On my return, I ordered the "veggie nachos". No bueno! They put beans, rice, and cheese. I don't know how that constitutes as "veggie", but I was so grossed out at the concept of nachos with rice. Don't get me wrong, I love Mexican rice, and I love beans, but not on my nachos. So overall, this place is pretty good. The parking, it sucks, it's in a small hole in the wall. Make sure you ask for salsa roja on the side. Their salsa bar is pretty weak. read more

This has been my favorite spot since I was in high school!!! They have the best carne asada tostadas, papa nachos as well

Got some take out yesterday at Charlie's. And after 12 years as a loyal customer, i was disgusted... with their decor. The new wanna be upscale look doesn't go with this place. Where's my colorful murals of Mexico on the walls. The funky colored booths and counters uuuuhhhhh! Well aside from that, the food is still really good. Although the prices have gone up some. Wonder why? maybe to cover the remodel. Any way, the flavors are all still there. Good nachos, tacos, and burritos. Love their agua de pina. However, my portion of nachos was on the small side, mmm maybe just on off day. But whatever, this is still a good hole in the wall taco place. Rankings 1-10 with 10 being the best Location - 7 you can go eat at the park across the street Ambiance - 1 horrible, i miss the old look Service - 6 quick Food - 7 good and simple Mexican fast food Overall - 8 Good ol Mexican comfort food read more
