Stopped here for dinner on a Friday night and it was very busy but service was fantastic and the beer was cold! It's a small place but they do such a good job getting food out in a timely manner. We had the chicken & steak duo fajitas and they were good but not anything amazing-- would recommend the chicken over the steak and expect 90% onions and very little peppers. Great salsa is an indicator that whats next at an anticipated taqueria. The food here is a great experience, and I'd highly recommend foods with the chicken. Its unique in its got a smoky/charred kind of thing going on. They also have a chipotle kind of sauce thats a special request kind of thing, and not on the salsa bar. They have taco flavor that I've not found elsewhere, and I'd give it five stars if they had a bit more innovation in taco varieties. And if they'd lose the non ethnic waitress that we've had three times in a row. She has no table check back skills or attentiveness and from my perspective there is no excuse for that. I moved to Merlin at the end of February and have been here already a dozen times. The food is great! I really like all the staff. They are super friendly. Margaritas are yummy and I like the to go option. I think salsa is a food group and really like the flavor of the salsa. I have ordered the street tacos several times and I really like their tamales as well. Tonight I'm am trying the steak fajitas and they are very good. I couldn't finish my meal! That's very rare for me. My friends call me "dos platos". That's Spanish for two plates. Translation: I can eat a lot of food! I ordered a burrito combo. One plate. One combination plate. And...I couldn't finish it! The portions are huge and reasonably priced. When I say this place is awesome, believe me. I'm an expert in street food, and more notably Mexican street food. This little hole in the wall, non descript little place doesn't look like much. But, let me tell you that when word gets out they will quickly outgrow this location. The food is the real deal. Everything that my table ordered was outstanding. The carne asada tacos were on point, the burrito was huge and the tostada was perfect. I don't know where this family came from or how they ended up in hilllbilly Merlin, Oregon. But, if they keep it up they will soon be the premier Mexican food chain in the Rogue Valley. I'm just glad I was here when it started. I hesitated to write this review, because, I know that the more people that find out about this place means the longer I have to wait for my food. But, hey, they deserve props. I have not necessarily been a big fan of Mexican cuisine but let me say right up front that this restaurant was a "game changer" for me. We have dined at this newly opened restaurant a number of times with family and friends and everyone raves about the quality of the meals. The restaurant is small and from the exterior, you might think - "No It Can't Be", but it is! Their business appears to be growing rapidly as many of the reviews here attest. Disappointing! The people were friendly and responsive, but the food was just below average, at least for these dishes. On their Seafoodmania plates the shrimp taco dish was not good. The bay shrimp were pre fried in batter and then inserted into the taco with cabbage. They should have been un-battered to be fresh tasting, and they should have been bigger shrimp.. The rice was a little dry but OK. The refried beans were not so good. On their combination menu the two chicken enchiladas with beans and rice just didn't measure up. The enchilada sauce was more like marinara and didn't have a good Mexican gravy type of taste . And there wasn't much of it, thus a dry result. Same with the beans and rice. Not rewarding. Maybe we just ordered the wrong stuff. Can't recommend for the price. read more

Three of us ordered chicken fajita burritos and fish taco meals. I travel all over the western states and these were top notch. The rice n beans were awesome and they have a salsa bar with 10-14 different choices and they also have hotter upon request. The men claim the burritos are an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. Not much to get excited over, probably one of the most unsanitary, old looking, and just half a$$ed place. I mean do you see where it's located? The only good restaurant in Merlin is Baldinis. I always order a chicken enchilada when I go to mexican restaurants because it's my favorite, when I had came here, it really wasn't much (or literally anything at all) to be excited over. I have eaten at a lot of places that serve "Mexican" food, but without a doubt Tacomania gets my best choice pick. Great service, good prices and the quality and quantity of the food is top notch. If you pass through Merlin, Oregon, Tacomania is a must stop. It may be small, but their food is huge! You won't walk out hungry or broke. If you have the appetite and think you can handle it, try their Enchilada Burrito . Their Taco Rancheros are an excellent meal if your not quite as hungry. One of their hot sauce's that is made in house is the best I have eaten. It is made from 3 different peppers if I remember right in oil. The flavor is out of this world. While the sauce is a little warm, (if you are not a hot sauce person, beware) but it has a roasted / smoked flavor that is hard to describe, so try a little and it will keep you coming back. The food here is delicious! Don't be turned away by the fact that the outside of the building is still as dilapidated as when the previous four restaurants occupied the building. The inside has been very nicely remodeled into a relaxing sit down dining experience and the food is SO good. The staff are friendly and provide excellent service.
