Flavor bombs!!! After a week in SPI I've been checking out a ton of local restaurants that I've never tried or haven't had for a long time. I was thrilled to find Tacology 201! I had checked out the menu before going and knew I wanted to pick three different tacos to try and was able to do that with their undecided option. I went fried fish, Korean BBQ steak, and roasted cauliflower. I also wanted to try their street corn. Taco one: Fried fish with chipotle remoulade, pickled red cabbage, avocado. I took one of the pieces of fish off and one of the tortillas to save for later and it was perfect with a crispy fried fish, delicious pickled cabbage (I love pickled veggies!!) and the sauce. I asked for extra pickled veggies and remoulade to go to be able to dress up my leftovers with all of those amazing flavors! Taco two: Korean BBQ Steak, pickled cabbage salsa, Asian pear, and cilantro. Perfection! The steak was tender and flavorful. I've only had Asian pears in sushi rolls and it was the perfect crunch and burst of freshness on this taco. Taco three: Roasted Cauliflower. Curried cauliflower, black beans, seasonal pickled veggies, spicy tomatillo salsa, and cilantro. I'm a fan of all the different ways cauliflower is being served these days and this taco did not disappoint. The side of street corn was also delicious. I used their house hot sauce on a few bites too and that was really good. I must go now and eat my leftovers as writing this review has me salivating for more. If you haven't been (or haven't been to the new SW side location) beware, prices have gone up. Getting that outta the way, I AM proud to say the spirit and thought process born at the downtown hole-in-the-wall location definitely carries through to the fancy new place. The theme is still slightly kitschy and slightly macabre, the beer selection is still a small, personally curated one of craft faves, and the food is still predominantly out of the box and always exquisitely constructed, tacos. They've added a few new items (soups, salads, elotes, and the most excellent birra tacos) many of which were likely specials at the old place. Rest assured though, those have now been replaced by a handful of NEW, even crazier sounding daily specials. Bring an open mind and an appetite for some fun and tasty Mexican. Good tacos and a good selection of craft beers. On my last visit I had the short rib Quesabirria tacos and they were excellent. Have previously had the Korean BBQ tacos, and would have them again. Service is always quick and friendly, the restaurant is chill as well. It's a good spot for a quick and solid taco dinner. read more

This is the new location that already has a location in downtown Springfield. For them to be newly opened the quality of the food is consistent with their other location. I had the steak and chicken tacos. This chain seems to have the best tacos I ever had in Springfield. They are open currently Tues. through Saturday and they could do better with timeliness there's a bit of a wait but I'd say it was worth waiting for. Everything tasted fresh, especially the guacamole. I ordered 6 tacos thinking I would not be full off of 3.. I couldn't finish the other 3, they do amazing with portions. They put plenty of steak and chicken on the tacos and they double up on the corn tortillas. The chicken tacos were not bold in flavor.. somewhat bland in my opinion, the steak tacos had more flavor. From my observation their customer service was excellent and the location was very clean. I spotted an employee sanitizing the tables while waiting. I like their E-receipts and I enjoyed my food. I'll definitely return. I hope they continue to offer quality food and great service. read more

Delightful food! Many Gluten Free options and amazing homemade tortillas. We had: - GF Fish Taco 10/10 - GF Salmon Taco 10/10 - GF Fried Cheese Taco 9/10 - GF Cauliflower Taco 10/10 - GF Dulce De Leche Cheesecake 11/10 (seriously the MOST amazing thing ever). Two areas for improvement: 1) Please, please, PLEASE get rid of styrofoam packaging. (Unhealthy for humans, bad for environment.) 2) I want customization options in the ordering app. I only have the ability to remove items. I want to remove, then add other things to my tacos. For example, I didn't like the creamy sauce on the fried cheese taco. I just want standard salsa. That is not an option currently when ordering online. read more

A fun find and some great food! The staff was super helpful. The lady who took our order made sure we understood what everything was and what we were getting. The guy who brought our order explained the different sauces and made great recommendations. I enjoyed my time, and the tacos were terrific. My wife and I both went with the "Undecided" taco plates. I got the steak, Korean BBQ, and fish. Loved them each. She went with the Korean BBQ, pulled pork, and chicken. Great flavors there too. I loved the pickled red onions. I often make my own, and they're a great addition here. Good tortillas, too! I'm not usually a fan of corn tortillas, but homemade was great! Also, giving us two per taco is just smart, because the fillings are enough for two! We each ordered a side of street corn. It was good, but not quite as flavorful or colorful as I had imagined it would be. I also tried the birria ramen, just because it sounded interesting. Not quite the flavor I was imagining, but a great base anyway. I think it would have been better with some protein (the Korean BBQ or pulled pork especially). My daughter had the nachos. We weren't as big of a fan. While the flavors were good, the whole thing had been broiled into a solid mass. There was no way to eat the nachos without prying them off the platter with a fork. That was disappointing. Still, I'm looking forward to coming back next time I'm in the area. There's still plenty more on the menu to explore. read more

Has the potential for five stars, but here are the shortcomings. Just a personal preference but when I have to walk up and order in a line (i.e. Chipotle style) a $70 meal for three people is a bit much! Three tacos per person, two drinks and chips snd guac for the table...$70 before tip, ouch! Beyond that the ambiance all screams more of a fast food vibe but with better customer service and great food. Zero complaints about the food, we crushed all nine tacos they were delicious, top three taco places in Springfield! And, I must note the chips and homemade guacamole was so good we all agreed to coming back for more of that love! Money = No Issue (You'll Love It!) Stopped in here while visiting family in Springfield and I must say definitely a good choice!! We all had the undecided taco combination and with that you get to choose 3 if their 9 major choices! Excellent idea, the tacos seemed to look small but once you start eating them you quickly realize that your gonna be satisfied with just 3. We ordered carnitas. The order came with 3 tacos that were full of meat and super filling. The meat was tender, not much spice and had a sweet taste (likely whatever marinade that was used). I was disappointed that lime wedges, grilled white onions nor grilled peppers were served (like legit street tacos). Just tacos in a box...that's it. Those little things would have taken the tacos to the next level for me. I may go back and try something else. Still debating. read more

Food: mediocre is generous. We got the "special" halibut tacos and the Korean bbq, also the street corn & chips/manchego queso. The Korean bbq tacos tasted like the meat had turned, and it was a strange smell + texture. The halibut smelled super fishy and the mushrooms on it were awful-- and I love mushrooms! Street corn was dried out, frozen/canned corn and also tasted strangely fishy. Chips were fine, cheese was unremarkable. The service was good, everyone was kind . Location was neat. The brick house cider with peach was the best part and it was a draft drink. Sad the food was sooo bad. 0/10, do not recommend:( read more

Our family and a few friends tried the steak, cheese, Korean, fish and salmon tacos. We liked every taco but would highly recommend the Korean and salmon tacos. We also had the nachos, which the adults enjoyed. We would recommend skipping the kids meals. The 3 kids we had at our table preferred the steak tacos and all disliked the kids nachos. read more

I LOVE Tacology. As a GF dairy free person with weird dietary needs, they've got me covered...and HOW! I love their tacos, the flavors, the menu options...I will never NOT go. The Blood Orange frozen margs are heavenly; even the staff t shirts are wonderfully clever! (I'll definitely buy one of those slick Tees in the future...) That said, my one wish is that the Yucca Fries came in orders of 8 & 4! My boyfriend got a burrito yesterday & the measly 3 fries look so sad. I wanted to have a few of his fries, but splitting 3 was disappointing. It's easier to split them in an order of 4 or 8! Eating 3 fries feels so weird. The 7 always leaves that lingering baby to split, too. My 2 cents. It's trivial in the scheme of things. I'll still be coming back all the dang time. I love you, Tacology! The food here is incredible. Creative options and rotating specials, everything i've had has been delicious. Most recently had the short rib quesabirria, and it was impressive. Tender and juicy, loaded with cheese and crispy on the outside. The consommé was so good I may have sipped the last bit. Service here is very welcoming, you feel like it's home as it is a family run small business. Great beverage options with a rotating craft beer list. Will be back when in town again. read more

I am a National Guardsman who stays in Springfield a weekend a month, I also happen to have Celiacs Disease. Eating out is very difficult, as many restaurants do not follow proper food handling procedures for individuals with food allergies. I follow a Celiacs website and they recommended Tacology and I'm so glad they did! I had three amazing taco's and even got desert....that never happens! The staff were so friendly and explained the menu and what they do to make sure cross contamination does not happen. You made a lifetime customer!!! read more
