And coming from California, I've had my fair share of Mexican food. This place did not disappoint. The carnitas plate was plenty generous. The meat was tender and slow roasted, you can really taste the porky goodness in every bite. The fish tacos were fresh and didn't feel heavy. The rice was flavorful and the chips and salsa can rival that of any California-based Mexican mama. The portions were huuugge! The drinks were strong. The ambiance was welcoming. The service was on point. If I was visiting longer, I would've loved to come back here a second time to try other dishes. But there's always a next time!

The food is quite good. I wouldn't call it authentically Mexican, but rather a contemporary, slightly elevated interpretation of Mexican cuisine. Personally, I would have loved a bit more of those bold, authentic Mexican flavors to come through, but overall, the dishes were enjoyable and beautifully presented. The staff was genuinely warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout the evening. I did change my mind shortly after being seated and asked to move from indoors to the patio. Our hostess, Aguilera, gave me a quick look that said, "Really? Already?" but was very gracious and accommodating. In the end, moving outside was definitely the right call! The wooden chairs indoors look beautiful but become a little uncomfortable after sitting for a while. The carved seating cocoons along the walls are visually striking and add a lot of character, although they're probably better for admiring than for a long, leisurely dinner. The outdoor seating, on the other hand, was very comfortable. The biggest opportunity for improvement is the acoustics. Conversations really travel and bounce around the interior, which naturally leads everyone to speak louder just to hear each other, creating a bit of a vicious cycle. During a busy dinner service, it can get quite noisy. That said, I'd absolutely come back and happily bring friends or visitors for a memorable dinner. My preference would definitely be a nice-weather evening with outdoor seating, where you can really enjoy the view and atmosphere. Pro tip: Ask for a Carajillo! It's a Mexican espresso cocktail that can be surprisingly hard to find done well. They have one here, and it was delicious, beautifully presented, and one of the highlights of the evening.

When I walked into the restaurant, almost every table was empty. Despite this, we had to flag down our server to take our order, had to ask for refills of water, etc. I understand allowing customers time to review the menu or enjoy their meal, but this was excessive. When we asked to pay, the waitress said she would be right back and then came back with plates...clearly confusing us for another table. For the lack of service, price and portion size, plus having to pay for parking if exceeding two hours (which, maybe if our service hadn't been so slow, we wouldn't have done), I can't recommend this restaurant.

The bad: My husband ordered the taco salad and I got an enchilada/tamale combo. I was surprised by how fast we got our food but it became understandable after we started eating. Sadly, the food was very bland. I honestly couldn't distinguish the tamale from the enchilada. The salad was ok..nothing was wrong but there is also nothing to comment about. For the price, I was hoping for more. Bottom line: We won't be back.

The meal was truly stunning. Kirkland has always been one of…read moremy favorite places. I spent a very relaxing afternoon at this spot. Ambiance: You can tell this is a tasteful establishment. The decor is sophisticated, the floor plan is well-designed, the space is bright and clean, and even the tableware is thoughtfully selected. If I didn't have plans later that day, I could have easily stayed here all afternoon. Service: From seating, ordering, and table service, to being checked on during the meal and handling the bill--the entire experience was excellent. Food: Since I had already eaten lunch and was waiting for someone, I only ordered a salad and a new menu item. Salad: The ingredients were generous and fresh. The texture and size of the shrimp were impressive. The pairing of Prosciutto with melon was a classic, perfectly balanced without being overly rich. Lemon Ginger (I believe that's the name): A refreshing drink. It had just the right amount of lemon--definitely worth a recommendation. Why the name "Parma"? The name is protected because production is strictly limited to the Parma region in Italy. To be an authentic Prosciutto di Parma, the ham must be made within specific hills south of the Via Emilia at an altitude under 900 meters. The unique microclimate here--dry, mild, and scented by the Apennine mountains--is the secret to its famous flavor. This is quite similar to traditional Chinese cured meat, sharing much of the same craftsmanship. In a world overrun by mass-produced pre-made food, almost anything can be industrialized, yet time remains the only ingredient that cannot be replaced. The dessert is also amazing by the way

On the plus side, they have a lot of food and drink options to choose from. I mean a lot. My last order was chicken and beef fajitas, which were just average. I'd rate the chips about the same. They have a lot of parking but try to avoid parking right in the front since it's awkward backing out. There are a lot more spots on the side of the restaurant which are much easier to enter and exit. The people that waited on us were very pleasant and nice to all their guests which I observed when I was waiting for my food. It's also a decent atmosphere for a Mexican restaurant once you get past the gumball machine in the front! I'm including a copy of their latest menu since you can't find it online and the menus on Yelp are quite a few years old. This should help in case you want to call in your order.

We arrived midday, 4-ish. There were no lines. They took our order as soon as we were ready, and our food was ready in 5 min. Super-fast meal. The Food: 3 Street Tacos, $3.25 each + $0.50 for 1 lengua - 4 Stars I ordered 1 al pastor pork (guajillo marinated pork served with grilled pineapple), 1 carnitas (citrus marinated pulled pork), and 1 lengua (braised in herbs and garlic beef tongue). All three of the meats are very good. To be honest, covered with spicy sauce (still having heartburn hours later), I inhaled the food so fast that they taste about the same. Ok, not the lengua, that's kind of obvious. All three tacos are great with fresh tasting tortillas, topped with fresh veggies. Three tacos are the right amount for me. Godfather Burrito, $14.50 - 3.5 Stars Menu: Large flour tortilla filled with rice, black beans, your favorite meat choice, lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole, grilled onions, and salsa Large and well stuffed, our only complaint is that we felt the need to add salsa. It wasn't quite good enough by itself, or maybe even a bit dry without added sauce. We had jarred salsa at home, so we added that. It's a bit of blasphemy to add the jarred salsa to a good burrito, but it was necessary.

This is easily one of the best fried calamari dishes in town and worth every penny. I wished the jalapeños had a bit more heat, but the flavor and texture were incredible. * Baja Chimi: The sauce on this was phenomenal--so good that next time I visit, I'm going to see if I can get this sauce on nachos instead of standard cheese! Mixed feeling: * Quesabirria Taco Plate: The consommé was rich, deeply flavorful, and great for dipping. However, the birria meat inside the tacos was on tougher side and chewy rather than tender, which held the dish back. The Misses: * Fish Ceviche: The biggest lowlight--the fish was surprisingly tough and missed the mark on texture. * Nachos with Carne Asada: Pretty underwhelming. Adding carne asada was a steep $10+ upcharge, yet the portion of meat was tiny and the overall flavor was bland.

The tacos were pretty decent and the better choice than burrito, despite the name of the restaurant. The tacos had good amount of meat, and I preferred the asada a bit more as while the birria taco has generous amounts of meat, it was a bit dry surprisingly. The burrito is there for a very very filling meal. It has a dollop of sour cream, guacamole, meat, rice, beans and refried beans. It's a giant burrito indeed, but it's more quantity than quality. The burrito is a bit soggy, but compensated for juicy carnitas.
