My first experience with Taco Rock was unique. You get a sense of arrival with the bright colored flowers and decor at the entrance area. They have a small sitting area and bar. It was close to Green Spring Gardens, a place we were visiting nearby. I noticed immediately that you made orders on a touch screen kiosk and typed in the number on a restaurant pager buzzer to alert you when your food was ready. We signed up for points on our order with Taco Rock by giving my email address and earned a $2 off reward on our first order to use that day. We ordered takeout - 6 lengua tacos. I sat at the bar and was served an iced water without realizing it. The bartender asked what I was ordering, so I decided to sample the happy hour classic margarita for $6. It was fancy for a $6 Margarita with a toasted lime on it. Delicious. I was impressed at how courteous and efficient the bartender was at her job. I needed the iced water without realizing it being dehydrated from my outdoor walk. The takeout order was ready to go in ten minutes or less. There was a prep area for taco sauces. I got a few to go sauces. The tacos were spicy and had some thinly cut peppers in them. It was too spicy in one bite I had of a taco. Yet they were the best lengua tacos I had in this area. Definitely would come back here again and try more items on their men read more

One of the chillest places in this area, which is saying something given so many places here seem rushed and on edge. Not sure why but it is and it shows. Dropped in a few weeks ago for the first time and sat at the outdoor bar. There was some huge soccer game so they were busy, but didn't forget about us. I ordered from the server computer thing and went across the board with the gringo, fried grouper and pollo tacos. Plain Jane enough but I'm a plain Jane kind of white guy. Idk if it was the captain and cokes but my wife and I went back for 3rds, and she went in for the ceviche. I'm telling you that alone rivaled anything I've had overseas, and after 6 years in LA trolling just about every taco joint there, Taco Rock could hold their own against anything in Cali. We actually ordered a huge catering package when we had some friends over this weekend and they didn't disappoint. They forgot a few things (there was a ton of it) but sent a guy straight away to drop it off. One of the better places I've been to in years. read more

Food was just ok. First time here. Lowest tip option on the tablet is 20% which just seems like a money grab. We have to order ourselves, pick up the food ourselves, and bus the tables ourselves after eating. What did I leave $11 for again? read more

While nothing was bad, the flavors felt pretty plain and on the basic side this visit. We've been here a few times before, and the most memorable dish for us is still the roasted street corn (Elote). This time we tried a bowl and the Gringo burrito Gordita-style, which just means it's smothered in queso (we chose jalapeño, but there's also chipotle queso). Everything was fine, but we were still hungry afterward. Overall, not terrible read more

Food was great the last time i was here ! Honestly a few weeks ago was the second time I was in and each time Saul was in and serving us at the bar . Im pretty indecisive so i felt bad with all the questions of drinks but he answered each one and made my experience an even better one ! The vibes he gave off and the atmosphere with the great music choice make me want to come back . Tell Saul he is awesome please ! read more

I visited on a weekday afternoon. We ordered tacos and drinks. The Puffy beef taco I had was my favorite. I loved the flavor and the crispy flour tortilla. I also ordered a Carne asada taco and it tasted like it was prepared with ground beef. That was not steak. I was disappointed with that one. My boyfriend ordered Rockfish, El Pastor, and Carnitas tacos. He was not impressed with his tacos either. We sat at the bar, our server was great. It's pretty spacious inside. I could see this being a place that you hit up during happy hour. read more

Heard of this restaurant on social media and quickly added it to my Yelp list. I was in the area and decided to give it a try with my family. The restaurant was very welcoming. We ordered on the kiosk and our food was ready within 10-15 mins. All the food was delicious especially the Mexican street corn. My mango margarita was perfect as well. We decided to get the Apple churros with caramel to go. We had a great experience and will definitely return when back in the area. read more

Tried the birria tacos and the Shakedown Shrimp, and both were solid choices. The birria tacos were flavorful, juicy, and came with a rich consommé that made every bite even better. The Shakedown Shrimp had a nice kick with plenty of flavor and were cooked well. read more

We were going to get subs and ran across this place. They have indoor and outdoor seating which I loved. In a shopping center near a lot of things. They have a big selections of food and drinks on the menu. I loved my Birria taco i ended up ordering another. The grouper taco I didn't enjoy at all the slaw on it was good I didn't enjoy the fish. The rockfish was good. We also had chips and salsa the salsa is served in a TINY Togo like 1 or 2 oz cup so it could have been bigger but the flavor was good just not enough at all for the chips. They have a lot of specials during the week and today was thirsty Thursday. The drinks were good would go back to have more drinks. Wish there was a little more staff interaction but overall this place is good. Try it! read more

Ordered delivery via Uber Eats..it's a lazy evening. Food was delivered in an acceptable time frame and the delivery guy, can't remember his name, delivered with a smile on his face and greeted me with such a cheery disposition. ~HEARTS THE FOOD! NOT HAPPY. I placed TWO ORDERS of the empanadas and they were DISGUSTING! The oil they were fried in WAS OLD AND TASTED...I can't even describe the taste in my mouth except...I NEED TO BRUSH MY TEETH AND POUR THE ENTIRE BOTTLE OF LISTERINE IN MY MOUTH! OLD OIL! YUCK The salsa was way too salty! The black beans were edible and the STAR, ONLY BRIGHT LIGHT of our dinner is the chicken flauntas...crispy shell, moist chicken, great flavor, drizzle of sour cream on a bed of crisp lettuce. Sadly, we will not be ordering from here or being patrons of the restaurant. BTW, I immediately called the restaurant, a man answered, I relayed my dissatisfaction, the man on the other end said that he would tell the kitchen, then immediately hung up. read more

So earlier this month, my sister took us to a new spot -- Taco Rock right here in Alexandria! It was my first time there, and we went all in -- three of us, three different tacos, and every single bite was a hit. But the real surprise? The Elote - Street Corn. Grilled corn with queso fresco, mayonnaise piquin, and chili ashes -- honestly, at first glance I thought "no way I can finish this, it's huge!" But the flavor was so addictive that I ended up eating the whole thing. Absolutely worth it! Definitely going back soon to try more from their menu. If you're in Alexandria and love tacos with a twist -- Taco Rock is a must! read more

This place is awesome. It's like Taco Bamba and MTV had a baby. It's a bit loud, but what kind of jerk would I be if i docked points off for loudness at a rock-themed bar? A taco-hatin'-jerk, that's what kind! And I ain't! This place is grindin'. read more

I've been to other locations and this was probably my least favorite experience. Got the Birria Eggrolls they lacked flavor meat wasn't seasoned well. Had went home and seasoned it. The land and sea taco only had one shrimp but was seasoned. Lobster taco was okay and that's usually my go to. Service was okay. Cute place bigger than my go to location read more

When I need some great tacos, I always get them from here. They are well seasoned and delicious. This is the spot to get great tacos!!!!

Pretty good, feels more like you'd come here for the bar vibes. The fried seafood taco was our favorite. The birria felt okay. The more adventurous options can get a little oily but I like that everything is made on demand. You can order on a tablet and then your order is called. read more

I do NOT recommend this place the tacos have no flavor and the ceviche was not good it was sour would never come back !

I went here today for two tacos, Ontario, took me 30 minutes after I placed my order The birria taco was dry and pretty flavorless The people behind the line cooking the food, did not seem to be in any hurry They wandered around, avoided eye contact, and I watched my food, move slower than a snail pace down the line When I finally got it and ate it, I regretted spending the money there read more

This is a review solely based on Take out, I'm giving not 3 stars just because they didn't mess up with my order (like they usually do) this time. My husband loves their Chicken Nachos, he says that are always big portions and tons of chicken, although this time the portion was unusually smaller than normal (we always end up with leftovers of this dish in particular), yet he likes the flavors so he was content regardless. I'm usually ordering their "Taco Salad" w/ shrimp and order it without rice and just "greens" yet they always end up adding tons of rice and last time I got pieces of pork (I only eat seafood, no poultry no red meat). When we order we do it through Uber Eats, so it's hard to communicate with the restaurant to make my order right. This time I decided to give their tacos a try again (because I had their Ahi Tuna and was really tiny and disappointing, also not really good). I'm truly happy with the blackened salmon taco, love the green chili aioli with the cotija cheese crumble! Loved the smokiness of the fish! The fried oyster one was very funky, but nevertheless delicious (I would consider putting some more salsa on top of that!) and my shrimp taco is basically what I've been asking to have made it done right when ordering the green taco salad hahah. Please be more attentive with the Uber Eats orders! Thanks! read more

I have to say I really like this spot. User error resulted in my taco being wrong and staff fixed it without issue, which I truly appreciated. Today was my first experience at Taco Rock and I must say it was a flavorful one too. I chose four tacos as I was starving. Taco Rock was rocking this late Saturday afternoon and the aroma of spicy delicious tacos only heightened my appetite. I chose the El Gringo taco with a double blue corn shell, a juicy, tasty Birria taco, and my two favorites - the Chilly Belly with the double blue corn shell and the Key West Grouper. The au jus that accompanied the Birria taco was flavorful with a slight smokey and spicy bite without burning me up. The vibe inside was upbeat and spacious. Ordering was easy and so was pickup. Taco Rock offers fresh food and varied menu selections for vegans, vegetarians as well as delicious meaty tacos. My taco craving was more than satisfied. read more

I set at the bar . Nice restaurant especially when the weather is nice and the open the roll away windows . They have a great selection of taco. The bartender was engaging and knowledgeable. The margarita was just ok this time. I have had previous ones there that were awesome . The blackened salmon lacked flavor . However I highly recommend the We be Jammin and the one that has the puff shell. They were both bursting with flavor read more

This review is for when you pick up your order or use a service like Seamless/Grub Hub. Your order will never be right. Ever. I don't know what it is, but during the pandemic, I would go pick up our order and it was always the beverage. My husband loves a jaritos and I finally got into the habit of checking our order before i left and *every time* they would forget the beverage. Now that we use a service like Grubhub or seamless , we still never get the beverages but lately large portions of the meal are missing too. I've had it with this place. You can't even call them to see if it's there to see if you can drive over and get It yourself because you just get an answering machine. There are other taco places around that will be getting our business now. read more

Taco rock is a Mexican gem here in Alexandria. It's where the tacos ROCK! That's far I have tried the fried avocado taco, the lamb taco, the beef carne asada taco, and the ahi tuna taco. Each taco is uniquely its own, creative, and ethnic in flavor. When a Japanese man and Mexican woman have a baby ..: they create the ahi tuna taco. After eating it wasn't sure if I had sushi or Mexican food lol .. quite the experience. The service is speedy and reliable, they've never messed up my order. The restaurant/bar has an outdoor patio and the option to dine inside, also great place to watch sports. There's plenty of room at the bar which offers a variety of drinks. Please try the spicy margarita! You will be happy you went! read more

Tried Taco Rock for the first time on Saturday. Got there around 2:30pm so we still had time on the brunch menu. There is a to go area and then you can sit, or we chose to sit and order at the bar. Wonderful service! They greet you when you come in, the birrias are the best in the DMV area and I have tried them all, believe me. Overall, the tacos are delicious! The only disappointment was that the carne asada tacos ripped easily. Not sure why only these. Taco Rock has an excellent variety of tacos. They are reasonably priced. It's very easy to just order what you want on their multiple electronic ordering machines. You also receive a vibrating device to let you know when your order is ready. I'm really happy that the ordering kiosks have pictures of the items so you don't have to imagine what you are ordering because sometimes you can picture an order differently than expected. The ambiance is super chill. There is also a bar behind the dine-in area which seems relaxing with TVs to watch. I definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

Such a great experience. I loved all of the unique taco options and really appreciated that the vegetarian options were just as varied and interesting. The general tsos cauliflower was delicious - not as spicy as I'm partial to, but the sweetness was really pleasant. The chicken was cooked so perfectly that it fell apart when one of the group tried to spear it with a fork. And we loved the puffy taco with the hot Cheetos - so fun! The elote dip was good, but could be great with a little heat or a little more salt (which is crazy for me to say as I usually think all food is too salty). We also got one of their seasonal Christmas cocktails. The bartender was very attentive even though he had a bunch of drinks to make. We will definitely be returning, especially to try to puffy chips and queso! read more
