My first experience with Taco Rock was unique. You get a sense of arrival with the bright colored flowers and decor at the entrance area. They have a small sitting area and bar. It was close to Green Spring Gardens, a place we were visiting nearby. I noticed immediately that you made orders on a touch screen kiosk and typed in the number on a restaurant pager buzzer to alert you when your food was ready. We signed up for points on our order with Taco Rock by giving my email address and earned a $2 off reward on our first order to use that day. We ordered takeout - 6 lengua tacos. I sat at the bar and was served an iced water without realizing it. The bartender asked what I was ordering, so I decided to sample the happy hour classic margarita for $6. It was fancy for a $6 Margarita with a toasted lime on it. Delicious. I was impressed at how courteous and efficient the bartender was at her job. I needed the iced water without realizing it being dehydrated from my outdoor walk. The takeout order was ready to go in ten minutes or less. There was a prep area for taco sauces. I got a few to go sauces. The tacos were spicy and had some thinly cut peppers in them. It was too spicy in one bite I had of a taco. Yet they were the best lengua tacos I had in this area. One of the chillest places in this area, which is saying something given so many places here seem rushed and on edge. Not sure why but it is and it shows. Dropped in a few weeks ago for the first time and sat at the outdoor bar. There was some huge soccer game so they were busy, but didn't forget about us. I ordered from the server computer thing and went across the board with the gringo, fried grouper and pollo tacos. Plain Jane enough but I'm a plain Jane kind of white guy. Idk if it was the captain and cokes but my wife and I went back for 3rds, and she went in for the ceviche. I'm telling you that alone rivaled anything I've had overseas, and after 6 years in LA trolling just about every taco joint there, Taco Rock could hold their own against anything in Cali. I visited on a weekday afternoon. We ordered tacos and drinks. The Puffy beef taco I had was my favorite. I loved the flavor and the crispy flour tortilla. I also ordered a Carne asada taco and it tasted like it was prepared with ground beef. That was not steak. I was disappointed with that one. We were going to get subs and ran across this place. They have indoor and outdoor seating which I loved. In a shopping center near a lot of things. They have a big selections of food and drinks on the menu. I loved my Birria taco i ended up ordering another. The grouper taco I didn't enjoy at all the slaw on it was good I didn't enjoy the fish. The rockfish was good. We also had chips and salsa the salsa is served in a TINY Togo like 1 or 2 oz cup so it could have been bigger but the flavor was good just not enough at all for the chips. They have a lot of specials during the week and today was thirsty Thursday. The drinks were good would go back to have more drinks. It was my first time there, and we went all in -- three of us, three different tacos, and every single bite was a hit. But the real surprise? The Elote - Street Corn. This is a review solely based on Take out, I'm giving not 3 stars just because they didn't mess up with my order (like they usually do) this time. My husband loves their Chicken Nachos, he says that are always big portions and tons of chicken, although this time the portion was unusually smaller than normal (we always end up with leftovers of this dish in particular), yet he likes the flavors so he was content regardless. I'm usually ordering their "Taco Salad" w/ shrimp and order it without rice and just "greens" yet they always end up adding tons of rice and last time I got pieces of pork (I only eat seafood, no poultry no red meat). When we order we do it through Uber Eats, so it's hard to communicate with the restaurant to make my order right. This time I decided to give their tacos a try again (because I had their Ahi Tuna and was really tiny and disappointing, also not really good). I'm truly happy with the blackened salmon taco, love the green chili aioli with the cotija cheese crumble! Loved the smokiness of the fish! The fried oyster one was very funky, but nevertheless delicious (I would consider putting some more salsa on top of that!) and my shrimp taco is basically what I've been asking to have made it done right when ordering the green taco salad hahah. I don't know what it is, but during the pandemic, I would go pick up our order and it was always the beverage. My husband loves a jaritos and I finally got into the habit of checking our order before i left and *every time* they would forget the beverage. Now that we use a service like Grubhub or seamless , we still never get the beverages but lately large portions of the meal are missing too. I've had it with this place. You can't even call them to see if it's there to see if you can drive over and get It yourself because you just get an answering machine. Tried Taco Rock for the first time on Saturday. Got there around 2:30pm so we still had time on the brunch menu. There is a to go area and then you can sit, or we chose to sit and order at the bar. We got a few different tacos as well as huevos rancheros. The fried avocado taco was the weakest but the others (breakfast tacos with bacon and chorizo) and birria were delicious! Overall, the tacos are delicious! The only disappointment was that the carne asada tacos ripped easily. Not sure why only these. Taco Rock has an excellent variety of tacos. They are reasonably priced. It's very easy to just order what you want on their multiple electronic ordering machines. You also receive a vibrating device to let you know when your order is ready. I'm really happy that the ordering kiosks have pictures of the items so you don't have to imagine what you are ordering because sometimes you can picture an order differently than expected. Such a great experience. I loved all of the unique taco options and really appreciated that the vegetarian options were just as varied and interesting. The general tsos cauliflower was delicious - not as spicy as I'm partial to, but the sweetness was really pleasant. The chicken was cooked so perfectly that it fell apart when one of the group tried to spear it with a fork. And we loved the puffy taco with the hot Cheetos - so fun! The elote dip was good, but could be great with a little heat or a little more salt (which is crazy for me to say as I usually think all food is too salty).
