Being located on the route of our grocery store run, Taco Mundo's a place we walk by regularly. Though the smell outside the restaurant is pretty terrible, we gave it a try today, after our craving for Mexican food overpowered our fear of food poisoning.
Our adventure didn't start out well, since the only way to order pick-up food is through a paid (!) phone number. We were asked to wait twice, but were finally able to order and picked up our food after a short walk and a longer-than-promised wait.
Back home, we were surprised to find that the food didn't live up to the awful smell outside of Taco Mundo; most of it was pretty flavorless. The veggie taco tasted like iceberg salad; the 'crispy' classic taco had turned soggy after two minutes of walking and tasted like a bland heap of ground meat and the chicken quesadilla resembled a cheesy and sad attempt to replicate shoarma. Only the veggie burrito deserves some credit for incorporating mango, but apart from that, it was less flavorful than your average glass of tap water; luckily we had some salsa at home to give the food some semblance of flavor.
Summing up, we had to pay for the order phone call and wait significantly longer than promised to pick up our food, which didn't taste like anything: definitely not worth the €16,70 we paid for it. read more
