My friends and I stumbled into this place on our last day in Amsterdam and left extremely impressed. We were actually in the area for the famous "Original" Stroopwafels, but in desperate need of a bathroom. Luckily, this place provided that and much, much more. Located in a trendy part of town (De Pijp), Cabron is well positioned with plenty to do in the immediate vicinity. This is one place in the area you'll want to check out. While my friends and I can't speak to the food, as we only had cocktails, I'll say that the drinks are top notch, and the menu has many great options. It was unfortunate that we weren't hungry enough for a meal, but we really enjoyed sitting at their bar and having a drink. It would appear that this place is pretty new, and based on their world class service, stellar menu, and quality drinks, I expect them to do quite well. If in the area and craving Mexican, this is your spot. If even just for a drink, this place is sure to satisfy. The bartender we met (maybe part owner?) was extremely nice and friendly. Go ahead and give Cabron a try. I highly recommend it.

We ordered some of the tacos to share (they have 4-5 per serve) and I honestly think that these are pretty good for Mexican food on the Netherlands. The tortillas were freshly made and soft, and the mole chicken was flavorful. The downside was the carne asada was a bit tough but still tasty and came with some fresh guacamole. Overall since this place is local to me and the service was so friendly, I'd definitely come back and make this my go to for Mexican in my neighborhood.

I ran in here to escape the rain and was surprised by how nice and dry the intimate covered terrace is; a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a meal. I didn't get wet at all. They also have plenty of nice seating inside. Ordered the Carnitas Tacos and they were really good! You get 4 tacos with an order. My first time having tacos in Holland. They were flavorful with fresh soft tortillas and had some crunchy chicharron inside, which make them extra delicious. The tacos come with green salsa and onions. I have to say my horchata wasn't the best but I'm gonna give them a pass on it because maybe it's just not that popular here. The good thing is that it was not too sweet. The service was great and with a smile and they were so nice. They gave me such a cute table, even though I was dining alone. It's always nice to watch the world go by on a terrace as you enjoy your meal. The sweet candies that come with the bill are delicious. It's a little pricey for Mexican food (25.50€ for 4 tacos) but this is Holland so I'm not going to gripe. If you're craving some really delicious tacos, this is a great place to try in central Amsterdam. They also have lots of really wonderful looking mixed drinks. Try a margarita!

The staff was very patient and helpful with explaining how a meal works here. They will take the time to talk about what you like to make sure you select the right thing and answer any questions. The cocktail was also really good. I made a reservation, which seemed like the thing to do because it was lively inside. I mentioned this place to friends and they had already heard about it so it seems to be pretty popular and for good reason.

The Food: The homemade nachos are the real deal--super crunchy and clearly house-fried. I highly recommend the pulled pork (The Vondel); the meat is incredibly tender and the toppings are so fresh. One thing to know: the portions are massive! The "half" option is honestly more than enough for one person as a full meal. The Drinks: You can't come here without trying their margaritas. They are perfectly balanced, and they even have a spicy version that is dangerous! I also love that they have a great selection of other cocktails and non-alcoholic options for those not drinking, so everyone in the group is covered. Pro-Tip: It's a small, popular spot with limited seating, so definitely make a reservation if you're planning to visit in the evening. It fills up fast! My friends and I chatted with the owners, who have loved Amsterdam for years and dreamed of moving here to open a restaurant. It is obvious they put a lot of heart into this place, which manages to be both uber hip and inviting. Also their dog Lucy is just the sweetest and is happy to welcome you at the door. More importantly, the nachos are AWESOME. We tried the chili nachos and the pork, and both were delicious. They told us they make the chips in house, and it shows. So much better than the typical Amsterdam nachos. We also loved the queso dip, which is hard to find here. The cocktails were excellent too. I especially loved the coconut daiquiri, but the margarita was great as well. The prices were very reasonable. They said the drink list is seasonal and I can't wait to try out the new drinks.
