    Burrito Ranchero style
    Asia L.

I think the other reviews pretty much sum up how good it is. I like this place because I really get the sense of how fresh most the ingredients are which you see in the sauces and salsas. I would love to see some pico de gallo and guac in the dishes though. Anyway my tips: Liquados: try the mango one! I could guzzle that by the liter. Not too sweet, just right. Tostada veggie: when I first ordered this I did a triple take -- what is this pile o lettuce?! What is this salad? I was puzzled and maybe even a bit angry, but I have to say after trying it, it became my green eggs and ham and now I order it every time. It's delish! Burrito ranchero: not a big burrito fan in general so my main tip here is sauce-wise watch out if you're sensitive to spicy. I usually go for medium, but that was still way hot for me. To be safe step down and then you can always add. Huevos rancheros: this is really good. Wish it had pico and guac though. The bottom tostada is what makes it with a great crunch. Fish taco: I was super excited to see this on the menu, but I have to say I was disappointed by the actual fish. Maybe it was the day, but tasted bland and overlooked and I would guess that it was previously frozen salmon. However, when you eat it with all the lettuce, sauce and taco it's all easily disguised as ok. Still, you should be able to appreciate the components that make the whole and I can't say that fish gets any stars. Overall though, this is still our go-to joint and anytime we're nearby the park we always hit it up!

If there is a better burrito in Amsterdam, I haven't found it yet, and I have really tried them all. The menu expands beyond burritos but I can't quite get past my fixation for them yet. I have tried a taco, salad and some guacamole though. As far as the burrito goes, there is a good balance of veggies, beans, cheese and meat of course if you'd have it. I can't complain about the flavor and always have a smile on my face once I take a bite. It is almost becoming a weekly obsession. It seems the menu at the restaurant has more than the website menu does. They also have delivery service available which I have used. I do have a complaint about the delivery though because they have forgot some small things twice now. I called once and the next time they gave me free dessert so still have good customer service. This is the best in my opinion so give it a try by either heading in or ordering out.

    Chicken tostadas, pico de gallo

I was pleased to discover that they knew what gluten is and how it could easily be avoided there. I opted for chicken tostadas on corn tortillas. For about a tenner, I got two hearty tostadas topped with black beans, chicken, cheese and a dressed lettuce on top. It came with a side of tortilla chips and a choice of salsa - pico de gallo for me. It was a pretty big meal! The beans tasted faintly of cinnamon, which a bit odd. I ended up knocking the lettuce off the two tostadas, topping it with the salsa and eating it as a salad on the side. The food probably merits three stars, but the fourth is for helping to assure I had a safe, gluten free meal. Also, it's just around the corner from Vondelpark.

Best burritos in Amsterdam BY FAR! Very high end, inventive, thoughtful and not grease, for the educated foodie. This is not your typical tex-mex greaser with a heart attack in a burrito, so if you're expecting that you will be disappointed. But, if you have any taste for quality you will appreciate the extreme level of thought and attention put into every step of the burrito making process, from all organic meats and (for the most part) ingredients to the extra nutritious rice, the authentic fresh tortillas and the magical and inventive salsas of the month. The chef clearly loves what he does and the passion is evidenced by the extremely loyal and quickly expanding fan base. I've been going there since it opened for my burrito fix and still can't get enough.

Yum! Were this in the states, it would be a solid, above-average burrito joint with fresh ingredients. As it's located abroad in Europe, the zombie wasteland of spiced meat and veg in edible cylinders, it gets a rousing 5.0.

    Steak salad!

It's the closest thing to taqueria style Mexican. The steak is my favorite meat choice. Even though the tacos have lettuce on it, it still works. It doesn't bother me, maybe because the filling is so good? And they use two corn tortillas, the way it's suppose to be done. For not being in the states, I give this place 5 stars. I'm a fan. Oh and they have great customer service:)

Pico de gallo and tomatillo salsa with some fresh tortilla chips. YUMMY! They have 6 salsas to select from.

Great Tex-Mex food at reasonable prices and conveniently located. We enjoyed the fish taco, veggie fajita burrito, and chips & salsa (tomatillo and pico de gallo). Very friendly and attentive service, clean place. Will definitely become regulars here, as I want to try the huevos rancheros with 2 organic eggs for 6 euro.

I ordered a combination enchilada meal consisting of one chicken and one beef enchilada along with the refried beans and a small salad in the middle of the plate. The waiter asked if I like my food spicy. I said yes so he added more jalapenos to the meal spicing it up a bit. He also served me chips and salsa although the salsa was more like a hot sauce than a salsa in my opinion. Regardless, it was a welcome change to what I've been munching on lately. I also had a mexican beer, a Dos Equis. which was one of several mexican beers that they offer. On top of all that since they carried Cuervo Gold I orderd a shot of that. Overall the menu had some interesting choices I'd not seen in other mexican restaurants in Amsterdam. I must assume from the name of the restaurant that burritos are their trademark specialty. I'll have to go back because I wasn't in a burrito mood. I'd go back to try more things on their menu. They're also dog friendly.

Rice was definitely not fresh, beans were not bad and service thank god was decent. Two thumbs up for playing some Rolling Stones in the restaurant, making a good pina colada (which is not mexican btw but still yummy) and putting a decent amount of cheese on the dishes. I feel like this place has potential. Maybe Gordon Ramsey needs to come here and help them out? And lastly, the icing on the cake... the prices are ridiculous for the quality of food you get. If the food got a little more attention and love, this place would be a lovely place to grind on mexican food!

The Food: The homemade nachos are the real deal--super crunchy and clearly house-fried. I highly recommend the pulled pork (The Vondel); the meat is incredibly tender and the toppings are so fresh. One thing to know: the portions are massive! The "half" option is honestly more than enough for one person as a full meal. The Drinks: You can't come here without trying their margaritas. They are perfectly balanced, and they even have a spicy version that is dangerous! I also love that they have a great selection of other cocktails and non-alcoholic options for those not drinking, so everyone in the group is covered. Pro-Tip: It's a small, popular spot with limited seating, so definitely make a reservation if you're planning to visit in the evening. It fills up fast! Great food, big portions, and even better drinks. I'll be back for sure!

My friends and I chatted with the owners, who have loved Amsterdam for years and dreamed of moving here to open a restaurant. It is obvious they put a lot of heart into this place, which manages to be both uber hip and inviting. Also their dog Lucy is just the sweetest and is happy to welcome you at the door. More importantly, the nachos are AWESOME. We tried the chili nachos and the pork, and both were delicious. They told us they make the chips in house, and it shows. So much better than the typical Amsterdam nachos. We also loved the queso dip, which is hard to find here. The cocktails were excellent too. I especially loved the coconut daiquiri, but the margarita was great as well. The prices were very reasonable. They said the drink list is seasonal and I can't wait to try out the new drinks. Parakeet is such a gem and I can't wait to return!

They were flavorful with fresh soft tortillas and had some crunchy chicharron inside, which make them extra delicious. The tacos come with green salsa and onions. I have to say my horchata wasn't the best but I'm gonna give them a pass on it because maybe it's just not that popular here. The good thing is that it was not too sweet. It's a little pricey for Mexican food (25.50€ for 4 tacos) but this is Holland so I'm not going to gripe.
