Kua Mexican Kitchen is an authentic Mexican restaurant that prides itself on having traditional dishes which are "truly" Mexican as opposed to the popular Tex-Mex style that dominates Mexican restaurants nowadays. Right off the bat, I would recommend Kua mainly because of the fact that it is one of the few Mexican restaurants in The Hague, plus it is the only restaurant (that I know of) that serves traditional dishes (the rest are Tex-Mex). So if you're used to Tex-Mex, I would highly recommend to go to Kua and try the traditional style Mexican food, as it is totally worth it. As for the service, the waiters are friendly. No negatives there. Despite my positivity about this establishment, there are some negatives. Firstly, the dishes are quite small. This is a shame because it's not advertised as a small plate/sharing type place. Secondly, the restaurant itself is also small, meaning that there isn't much space available, which leads me to my third negative point, you 100% need a reservation. Since the restaurant is small and good, it's quite popular. This means that it's always full and it'll be hard to get a table without having a reservation. Overall, I would recommend Kua mainly because of it's authenticity and the quality of the food. It may not be the best Mexican food ever, but The Netherlands isn't known for it's Mexican cuisine, meaning that Kua is the best restaurant available. read more

I would eat here everyday if I could! Kua serves super authentic Mexican food and there is no watering down of flavors to accommodate local tastes. The food was absolutely amazing and really brings me back, you're not going to find better Mexican food anywhere! Food: 5/5 Everything we ate was delicious, my favorites were the street-style corn, corn soup, lamb trio and flan. The street-style corn and flan were just as good, if not better than what I've had in Mexico. It was amazing and brought back wonderful memories. The t-bone from the lamb trio was tender with crispy skin, the meat melted on my tongue and it was truly a moment of pure bliss. Pretty much everything is delicious here and you can't go wrong... Service: 5/5 The staff was friendly, attentive and super helpful. They answered all my questions, and didn't rush us even though it was very busy. Loved our lunch here. Sat outside in a quaint cafe atmosphere. Service was great. Decent drink selections including more unusual Mexican brews. We were a party of 5, and we ordered 4 unique items. I'm sad to report I still haven't found a decent Mexican restaurant in this country. Based on the reviews I had very high hopes for this place. Although most of the food tasted good, it was not authentic, so the best I can do is three stars. The highlights: good margarita. Decent ceviche. Homemade chips with green salsa. Free tap water. The lowlights: only three types of tacos, one served with some type of green I guarantee you'll never find on a taco at a real Mexican restaurant, one with whole cherry tomatoes (ditto). Kua is a decent Mexican restaurant. Not great, not spectacular, but perhaps the best you can find in Den Haag. Coming from South America, I understand that it is impossible to get all the ingredients to give Mexican food it's proper punch; however, the result is still a tad bland--no zing, no zest. One exception has to be made: the enmoladas de pollo tower above the rest of the menu, truly a 5 star dish. The tacos, however, are just mediocre. The drinks department is strong: fantastic margaritas and even a selection of Mexican craft beer give you interesting options to wash your food down. Service was friendly, if a bit slow. read more

WOW! So impressed! This is hands-down the best Mexican restaurant we've been to thus far in the NL. The food was delicious and super authentic...fresh guacamole and Mexican style chips (not the fake yellow Dutch ones lol). My husband had the steak tacos, and the steak was soooo tender and flavorful. I had the shrimp tacos, and they were loaded with delicious shrimp. For dessert, we had the ice cream trio and it was sooo far above what I would have expected for an ice cream dessert; the authentic flavors even carried through to the last bite. The restaurant is super "gezellig" - it's the perfect place to eat delish Mexican food and chat for a few hours. The owner is also very nice and really hospitable. When I found Kua Mexican Kitchen on my first night in The Hague, my heart melted. It's not ostentatious or over the top, but friendly, warm, and delicious. Without a doubt the best Mexican food I've had in the Netherlands, Kua's dishes are elegant, fresh, interesting and satisfying. From the moment I sat down, surrounded by couples and friends speaking Spanish, I knew it was going to be an enjoyable meal. I had a house margarita, the marinated pork tacos and the peach corn cake for dessert. Everything was unique in flavor, and served in quantities large enough to get full but not too much to leave you heavy in your dancing shoes on a weekend night. Exceeded my expectations in food. Meet my high expectations for service. Was also less expensive than i thought. Less than 30 euro for drink and entree. Had the carnitas. As tender adds any I've had. Excellent guacamole but chips were not very tasty and too hard. The beef skirt steak I ordered was cooked to medium perfectly as ordered but sadly lacked any seasoning. The margaritas had plenty of tequila but didn't taste like a real Mexican margarita more like they used a cheap mixer. The carnitas tacos are tender and very good but very over priced as were all the entrees in my opinion.The place is just small and crowded so there is no chance of a relaxing dinner and It is far too expensive for lunch. read more

Oooh my gosh!! I love this place! I'm from Texas and have lived here in Holland for 14 years... this is the First place that is real...real...Mexican southwest style food. I've eaten at Kua Mexican Kitchen twice now and each time the food has been wonderful. I first ate during midday and had some quesadillas that were incredibly delicious. It was fairly empty (I was the sole patron) and got to speak with the owner. He seemed very genuine and concerned with making his restaurant the best it can be. We spoke a bit and he invited me back for dinner during my stay; I of course took him up on his offer and came back the next night. The dinner was even better; from the amazing margarita to the tacos--everything I ate tasted delightful. I'm no expert on Mexican cuisine, but this was by far the best I've ever had. Aside from just the mind-blowing food, the atmosphere and staff are also great; it's refreshing to see a restaurant owner who cares so much about their reputation and actually takes care of the customer themselves. They also had a nice selection of Mexican beers/cocktails/spirits if you're looking to loosen up during your meal and really enjoy the ambience and experience. Kua Mexican Kitchen is easily the best place I've eaten at in The Hague, and I highly recommend it to any visitors; it's definitely a must-see! read more

Love this place! The owner is Mexican and that comes out in these very authentic dishes. I've been here about a dozen time and my favorite dishes include anything with their beef (soft beef tacos or flank steak) or the wonderful white fish dish they had on the menu at one point...it was surprisingly addictive! Service is great and they are super at accommodating the customer. Tips: Call ahead for a seat, they tend to fill up at popular times like weekends. read more

I have been to Kua three times and cannot understand what the fuss is about. There is one good item on the menu (pork tacos) and all the other main dishes I've had have been extremely disappointing: fish tacos were plain, unseasoned, cool temperature shrimp that tasted old and fishy on a tortilla. No cheese, lettuce, peppers or other adornments. The mole tastes like its out of a can. The margaritas are delicious (get drunk enough and you won't taste the food) and the service is really nice. I have been to Mexico a dozen times and would not call this Mexican food. read more
