The first location I went to was across from Rosen College off Universal Blvd. The food is fairly priced for the portions and they have a nice variety of deals if you're on a budget (one of the appealing factors for when I was in college). This location is no different. They have the same deals and delicious food. I got the vegetarian refried bean taco with cheese, pico and salsa. The staff were friendly and accommodating with making the taco vegetarian (a request they aren't used to). It's easy to navigate, with the menus on large Tv screens above the line. I've been eating at Taco Maker for as long as I can remember, though not at this location, but back in Puerto Rico. I would choose this spot over Taco Bell any day. Both are fast food joints, but I believe Taco Maker offers a superior menu and food that feels almost restaurant-quality. The nearest Taco Maker is nearly 2 hours away, and I've actually driven that distance just to enjoy a meal here. Whenever I visit Puerto Rico, this place is always my first stop. The Orlando location is situated in a shopping mall surrounded by other eateries. There's ample parking available around the restaurant. Inside, there's plenty of seating, and the place appears to be clean. When you place your order, they prepare your food right in front of you, so you can watch them assemble your meal. Their menu features a Tex-Mex fusion with a hint of Puerto Rican flavor, in my opinion. On my last visit, I ordered the Fiesta Dinner, which comes with a Super Taco (ground beef), a Burrito, refried beans, and chips. One downside is that I find their prices to be a bit on the high side. I mean, isn't this supposed to be fast food? Regardless, I still prefer this place over Taco Bell, so dining here occasionally isn't a bad choice. The Rundown: Puerto Rican chain new to the US, they offer reasonable pricing with quality offerings. The review: I wasn't expecting much - taco places I feel tend to be either overpriced or not great. Fortunately this concept was neither! It feels slightly like a mix between Subway and Chipotle - where you place your order and move down the line, adding toppings as you go. We tried their platters and taco pockets, along with their desserts. Pricing was very reasonable and overall the flavors were solid. The taco pockets were a neat design, but not quite as I was expecting. Not sure why, but the photos give off more solid, crunch vibes when in reality it's a very soft item. Not a big deal, just keep this in mind that central piece is just tortilla and not a firm taco. The platters were a nice deal, keep in mind that the nachos are not your typical style as the cheese is not melted. The desserts were not bad, but they didn't feel like a "closing item" and seemed to blend in with the meal. Overall, it's definitely worth stopping in. This place should not be called Taco Maker. I grew up with taco maker and it pretty close to nothing of the original. It's more like a chipotle now. The only reason I drove here was part nostalgia and for the crisp bean and meat burritos and they no longer make them. That is what separated this place from the other Tex Mex fast food. Stopped here on a whim the other day. Seen it many times while grabbing pizza from Muzzarellas across the way. That's what my plan was, but, changed my mind at the last minute. Not the worst decision I've made but certainly not the best. I Knew nothing about this place other than the sign said tacos. Let's be honest, there are no bad tacos, just better ones. When you walk in you are greeted with a huge open dining area. Tile floors and brightly colored walls give the place an inviting fun atmosphere. It was about 5:30pm on a Wednesday evening when I visited. No one was there at that time. I walked in to find that the ordering style is just like those of Chipotle or Qdoba. The food options are very similar as well. I walked up to the counter and was greeted by to very nice employees. I took a moment to look through the menus and settled on a Grande Plater which consisted of a burrito a side of tortilla chips, a very large crunchy taco and a scoop of black beans. On the taco I chose to go with ground beef, lettuce, tomato's, cheese and sour cream, in the burrito I went with pork and black beans, topped with cheese, and sour cream. I chose to go with a drizzle of their house made fresh green hot sauce on the burrito and on the chips. I also could not help my self and ordered a side of cheese fries. What can I say I'm a sucker for fries. Everything was made right in front of me as they asked the questions and everything appeared to be fresh. The taco was pretty basic other than being the largest crunchy taco I have ever had. The meat lacked a little spice/seasoning in my opinion, all the veggies were fresh and the green sauce was good. My pork burrito was pretty good. A little on the salty side but did not lack in flavor. I think the green sauce was the star on this one. The cheese fries I just couldn't say no to were were just ok. The fries were precooked and sitting in the hot table and the was squeezed out of a bottle. They were just ok in my opinion. I wish I asked for green sauce on those. Not sure if they will get a second chance or not. The place was clean and the series's good but that's only half of what I was hopping for. Taco Maker Mexican Grill offers a very Americanized version of Mexican food. I guess it would be fair to compare it to Chipotle, Moe's Southwest Grill, Qdoba and other brands similar to these familiar names and business models. The prices are a little bit higher than places like Chipotle, but they do include a drink. I guess if you normally drink water in these places, you are losing out. If not, honestly, it is probably equaling out. Again, this is a very Americanized version of Mexican food. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, look anywhere else but here. This place is actually in a plaza across the street. The place is bran spanking new. I was adventurous and decided to take my wife and daughter for dinner... this place boasts of "fresh" guac... When you arrive, the outside is very nice with several signs confirming the fresh guac and fresh salsa. The salsa does NOT disappoint. They offer a red sauce and a green sauce. The red sauce is tad bit on the sweet side, but good and the green sauce is "caliente" hot but sooo good. I ordered a made to order burrito. They have several meat selections and plenty of toppings including "sweet plantains"????????? Well, that's not really Mexican, but it's nice that they offer that. They prices range from $8 and up but they also have a $5 kids menu. Drinks are fountain style, but they also offer Jarritos brand soda bottles and for the peeps that like "cerveza" beer with their tacos, the offer Modelo and other selections. It was about 30 something bucks for three people. The guac is fresh... but it had no salt... fine with me but most people like it with some salt. It is served in a little bitty cup, not what I like, but you get that and some chips in little bag for $2.50. Not a bad place. read more

Chipotle Wanna-Be. Rip off of other popular chains but lacking in customer service. They require that you wear a mask and then act like they can't hear what you are saying to them. The people sitting and eating were not wearing masks but I had to scream over noise in order for them to hear me because of the sign on the front door. My first and last visit. Employees are rude and unhelpful, unlike the popular chains they are attempting to emulate.They need to train staff on basic customer service. A Taco Trio Platter with Chicken, Carnitas and Ground Beef with black beans, chips and Mexican rice. The Grande Platter I ordered came with a taco and a burrito, so I got the burrito stuffed with carnitas, and went with the ground beef for the taco. The carnitas were very flavorful and really good for a fast casual place, but they do make it everyday in house. The Apple or Cherry Pies are deep fried tortillas with apple or cherry filling and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon...what's not to like? Of course the Nutella Cheesecake Pie is pretty much a game changer. This is a deep fried flour tortilla with cheesecake and Nutella filling and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. Let me start out by saying I love tacos! I'm a regular at most of the fast food/fast casual taco places around Orlando. So when I saw a new chain coming to Orlando, I was super excited. Well, after looking at the menu, that excitement quickly dissipated. I wanted to try a few items and ordered an assortment. Nothing was "Bad", per se, but all of it was underwhelming. It's overpriced for what you get. The food was lacking any real flavor. You can get better quality at Chipotle or Moe's for less money. Came here for a quick bite to eat for lunch. I was in a rush and this place popped up on Yelp for quick service and I wasn't disappointed. Set up as a chipotle style build your own bowl, burrito, salad etc. I ended up getting a veggie bowl, they had sweet plantains but they looked a little soggy and cold probably had been sitting out for a while so I decided to pass. I just did the veggies and the guac which was super fresh and delicious. My meal came with a drink with was a nice surprise, so you definitely get a good amount of food for the money spent. The staff was friendly and the placed looked clean. Parking wasn't difficult as it was located in a strip mall. Overall, was a little underwhelmed with the food. Have been here twice. If you're in a rush this is a good place to go. I have tried the beef and the chicken. Hard taco and soft taco, that is just a personal decision. I highly suggest getting the chicken, it is well seasoned and moist. The beef is not anything special and doesn't taste too authentic. I've gotten a side of fries and both times I've had to wait around 10 minutes. That's a bummer because the tacos are ready immediately so while hot fries are everyones dreams...you eat all your food before they come out. That is a major downside for me. I had friendly staff taking my order at a line-style order as you go counter. From my experiences, my food has always been fresh, hot, and tasty. I've tried both the tacos and burritos, once with beef, the other times with chicken. I prefer the chicken. A decent amount of toppings to chose from to go on your taco or burrito. My only complaint is that my chips always seemed to be overcooked or stale, I can't figure out which one. I ordered a burrito and taco combo with drink it also came with french fries, I was satisfied with my food and I left full. My mr. Pibb was delish. The combo meal was around 799 but I added guacamole for an extra charge so my total came to $9 and some change I would have taken a picture of the receipt, but the cashier did not give me one.... which is weird because she specifically asked me if I wanted a receipt and I said yes but she still didn't give me one. The theme of this restaurant is yellow, I like the way it looks inside. I also like the rappers they use to wrap the food. I've been excited since the beginning of construction for that plaza to try out the different businesses. Yesterday, I decided to stop by and give them a try. It was after 6pm so I got the $6 after 6pm deal. I had the three taco platter. My Mexican rice was dry (it was the last of the pan), the black beans tasted like decorated canned beans and the tacos lacked any real flavor. For me, if you have a restaurant where everything is scoop and serve it needs to be the absolute best! You have plenty of time before and after the restaurant open/closes to season, marinated and prep your food to give it a more robust flavor. Not sure where the ball is being dropped. My husband and I used to frequent this place, despite the fact that the staff is never pleasant or efficient. Today, we ordered Uber Eats from them, and this has solidified us never returning. Not only was an entire meal (fiesta dinner, so A LOT of food) missing, but everything that we received was made incorrectly. We tried to call the restaurant with no results, so I drove to the location, completely defeating the purpose of ordering delivery. I arrived to find them closing more than an hour before their posted hours stated. A staff member came to the door, and I explained that I was there to pick up our missing food. Not even addressing the fact that what we received was not made correctly. They stated that they were understaffed and could not give us any food but that they could "maybe write on a piece of paper" that we needed a refund. Are you kidding me? They have burritos, quesadillas, burrito bowls, taco salad, tacos and more.. you choose your protein then toppings similar to like Chipotle. They have plantains as a free topping which is so rare and I LOVEEE plantains. I tried the taco salad with steak and it was pretty tasty. My father had a beef burrito. Taco Maker is a chain Mexican restaurant originally from Puerto Rico. This location is across from Florida hospital on Lake Underhill, which boasts a decent parking lot. The interior is very nice and well decorated, I got the sense that even though it's a chain taco place, it was above the league of places like Taco Bell and Del Taco. The food itself was okay. It's definitely much better than most chain places, but the meats are a bit dry (which I attribute to being kept hot all day in the assembly line style method for the make your own concept). I ordered the single quesadilla with pork carnitas and changed out the dollop of sour cream for some guacamole (an upcharge). I also ordered the Nutella filled hand pie (that's my name for it because it's slipping my mind right now). Like I mentioned earlier, the pork was a little dry, and since there was no sauces inside the quesadilla, it was more noticeable. The quesadilla itself was just the pork and cheese. I dipped it in the guacamole and it was good, but nothing worth raving about. The dessert was tasty, especially since it was served warm. It was basically some form of fried dough or tortilla filled with cheesecake type filling and Nutella, and rolled in sugar. Overall, an okay meal.
