Birria Enchiladas

This little gem offers authentic home cooked and flavorful Mexican food. The servers are attentive and quick and the prices are reasonable. They do charge extra for everything, including sour cream and extra chips which is the only negative.

This place had very sweet staff and cute vibe. The guacamole was very good. Yes they do charge for additional chips and salsa which I find interesting- never had that before at any Mexican restaurant- Unfortunately I did not like the sauce on my enchilada, so that made it difficult to eat. I had a few bites but couldn't finish . My beef taco however was yummy and packed with beef and goodies. My husband said his quesadilla was extremely salty and could not eat it and he said he did not like the burrito at all- the sauce was not palatable which is disappointing. My son had the steak and said it was on the tough side but he did finish it. The skillet it was served on was extremely hot which made it somewhat difficult to cut and eat . I'm bummed because we really wanted to like this place .

You have to order the guacamole. It's fun and tastes very good. The service was fabulous. The only downside was Pepsi products. We got there early at 4:30 and were the only ones there besides people picking up food. However the place was almost full by the time we left.

Decided to try out a new spot in the Alafaya area, and this place didn't disappoint. The food was way better than I expected. We got the steak tacos that came with a side of rice & beans (the rice was a little bland) but the steak in my opinion was very tasty. I love how they cut the steak into little diced pieces. Also got the birria quesadilla, it was filled with flavor. Then ended with some dessert with the churros. I have to say these are one of the best I've had. Perfect amount of cinnamon and perfect crunch. It also had some sort of filling but couldn't really tell what it was. Think it was dulce de leche but I could be wrong. The service was 10/10. Our server was very attentive and super helpful. We went around 7pm and for the most part it was pretty busy for early dinner time. But with that said we were seated right away. Love how they have both inside and outside seating. With the outside area being covered so no need to worry about bugs! For anyone who likes adult drinks, they had a whole other menu with a lot of margarita options.

Being new to the area and looking for a good Mexican restaurant that is local and full of flavor....we stopped here one night and were not disappointed. This place is in a smaller strip mall, but has great decorations and an outdoor enclosed dining area that we sat in. The wait staff (Sebastion) was top notch, the food was great. Queso fundido was served in a molcajete that kept it hot and gave it a bit of the crusty bit that we all loved. Three of us had the pick 3 combo with a variety of fillings, the other 2 had different combo offerings. All were fresh and had great flavor. The horchata was excellent. Cannot wait to get back and try the guacamole that is made tableside.

Huarache with Al Pastor meat.

Service is quick, kind, and helpful. Comfortable small little spot with about 15 tables inside and half that outside. My wife is Mexican and she had the Huarache with Al pastor meat. She really liked it. The Huarache has a thick boat shaped tortilla. She called it a gordita and it was great. The Al pastor was tasty and she was very happy. I had the tacos de birria. The meat and caldo (broth) was really good. I prefer flour tortillas and they offered it in flour but it's really supposed to be on corn tortillas. I should have gotten it on the corn but it was still good. Honestly the chips and salsa was the weakest link but likely due to my mother in law teaching me how to make her salsa from Jalisco. It was tasty but mine is better. The chips were nothing special. I'll be back for the main courses no doubt. Really good place and the price was very fair.

Best lunch I've had in a while! We got the table side guacamole that was fresh and delicious. I got their garlic shrimp that was so flavorful. The staff were very friendly. I love this place. Definitely recommend!

Let me start this review in a way I never have before, by mentioning the best item on their menu first: The Al Pastor Tacos. I've never experience better Al Pastor tacos than at Guacamole Mexican Grill, without a doubt, get these (especially with flour tortillas and shredded cheese, muy bueno). But as of late, they switched from free chips and salsa, to "the first bowl is free, after that is $3.50 per bowl". I have been dining here regularly (probably once a week for almost 6 years now) and was surprised that there was no warning of the chips change. We had barreled through the bowl as we normally do, and when the waitress came over to see our now empty small bowl of chips, she said "just so you know, we changed our chips, the first bowl is free and every bowl after is $3.50"... the look on our faces was utter shock. We asked if that was serious, and unfortunately she said yes. I have come here so often that the staff recognize us and know our order before we sit down. So to get lambasted without any notice before we plowed through the first bowl was shocking. But more shocking was the at the table next to us had 4 people and they got 2 bowls of chips to share. Then I saw someone at the bar got their own bowl of chips. So, 1 person gets 1 bowl, 2 people get 1 bowl. 4 people get 2 bowls. Ok, I'm not sure the methodology of how many persons equal how many bowls of chips you get free, but I understand that maybe you have people coming in and getting free endless chips with water. So, better idea? Seb, if you are reading this, "free endless chips with the purchase of an entree... if all they buy is a drink, no food, than $3.50 for chips" put it on the menu that way in BOLD LETTERS, or have the servers mention that IMMEDIATELY upon sitting down. I rarely give less than 4 stars on any review but, this let us down sooooo much. I pray that you fix this recent change, as we probably won't return until it is rectified in some manner where a table for 2 that might have gone through 3 bowls of chips with their entrees, is now not paying $10-13 dollars extra on their bill. Even adding a dollar more to each entree to combat the cost of chips would be a better fix. If we can fix this, we'll return and I'll happily change this to a 5 star review as that is what this restaurant truly deserves.

The food came out so fast and delicious. The atmosphere is great you have bar, outside and indoor seating options. The prices are right for the amount of food you get ! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the area. We order the fajitas and I shared it with my boyfriend, we ended up adding rice and beans and it came out perfect to share. My mom orders the tacos which was super yummy and juicy. The quesadilla was packed with cheese and steak definitely very stuffing for a kids meal, overall amazing meal :)

Guacamole we love you, your food and your staff!! This is our favorite place to go to. No matter what you get on the menu you're guaranteed to love it. Drinks are delicious! We love our awesome servers Sebas, Blanca and Rosa.

Small bowl for chips they charge for if you want more than one.

What Mexican restaurant charges for chips and salsa if you want more than one bowl?? Then give the same small bowl to four people as they do two people?? We have been coming here for years and tonight was not a good experience with this place. Food took forever, we felt ignored by staff for the most part and then charge for chips that other Mexican restaurants in the area don't charge.

Steak tacos with side of beans and rice

Service was fantastic. Food was even better. We were seated immediately, however we've heard the wait times could get bad so I guess we got lucky. The birria quesadilla was delicious and would absolutely order it again. The steak tacos were okay, but would probably try a different meat next time. Everything we ordered came out burning hot (in a good way), especially the churros. Our waitress Sarahi was very attentive. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

Quesadilla birria

One of my favorite restaurants to visit on a weekly basis! So far, the food quality and service have been consistently good during all of our visits. We normally don't have trouble getting seats right away, and the servers are fairly attentive, especially Bianca. We always know we're in good hands whenever she's helping us. Currently, my favorite menu items have been the Mexican wings and the Quesadilla Birria. I haven't been able to work my way through trying more of the other menu items because they're just that good! Highly recommend trying those when you get the chance.

Do the have a happy hour drink special?

No they don’t. They used to have food specials during the week like 10.99 chicken fajitas on Thursdays but we went about a month ago and they charged us full price.

I'm pretty sure these tacos healed parts of me emotionally. The meat was seasoned perfectly, everything was fresh, and I would honestly fight a small bear for another plate. And the queso? Don't even get me started. That queso was so good I could bathe in it. If they sold it by the gallon I'd have a shelf dedicated to it in my house. I wanted to ask for a straw and just skip the chips entirely. Scientists need to study whatever they put in that queso because there's no way it's legal to make something taste that good. Now let's talk about Kevin. Give this man a raise immediately. Kevin wasn't just a server -- he was the backbone of society. This dude was so attentive I think he refilled my drink before I even realized it was empty. He appeared out of nowhere like a customer service ninja every single time we needed something. At one point I'm pretty sure he was running the entire restaurant, solving world hunger, and maintaining the economy all at once. Kevin's recommendations were elite, his attitude was amazing, and he somehow made the whole table laugh while still being insanely professional. If Kevin told me to order something random off the menu with my eyes closed, I'd trust him with my life. Honestly the food was incredible, but Kevin elevated this meal into a cinematic masterpiece. 10/10 experience. I'll be thinking about those tacos and that queso for the rest of my natural life. Kevin for president.

This year I told my honey the only way I would go out was if we found a place that excepted reservations. In return, I accepted that it was most likely not going to be an extraordinary, authentic, or a gem of a place. My first experience at Solita turned out to be what I manifested. Upon entering the restaurant, vibes were in full effect. No mariachi band as I would have hoped, but the but the energy in the room was happy and festive. They had a DJ providing music, but it was so loud that when our waitress read us their specials, I literally told her I could not hear her. She did greet us with salsas, chips, and these little wheels I read a lot about. They had a similar texture to a chicharron and were simply delightful! Probably my favorite component I sampled all night. Since I had never been to Solita, I checked out Yelp to do my research. One thing I was excited to try was their "Duckie Frozé". It had Rosé, fruit purée, frozen margarita with your choice of flavor: watermelon, pomegranate, or guava. Adorning the top of the drink was a darling little rubber duckie. There are TONS of pictures of this drink on Yelp. Much to my surprise, my drink arrived with NO DUCK. When I asked the waitress about it, she shrugged it off said they "don't do that anymore". It may sound like a small thing to be disappointed about, but really that was just the start. Luckily, Cinco was on Tuesday this year, so we were able to order from the "Taco & Tequila Tuesday" discounted menu. We started off with the Grilled Corn Elote which is served tableside. I thought this would be cool, but it wasn't. It was a bit painful watching the waitress struggle to shave the corn off. I almost wanted to offer help! After all that, the corn was just ok. I personally think the Elote I make at home is better. Thankfully this was on the Tuesday Menu also making it only $5. While perusing their selections prior to going, I felt that their taco prices were a bit steep. They have two types of taco sizes. The Street Tacos looked itty bitty with next to nothing on them. They do have a lot of flavor choices (11), and you get 3-4 tacos for about $20. Glad I saw photos of these on Yelp beforehand. Then they have Tacos Locos. They are described as "One large taco" when in fact they are just regular sized tacos overflowing in toppings. Just ONE Tacos Locos costs about $15! I think the pricing is loco, and based off what we'd tried so far, I was certain to only order from the Tuesday menu. We were able to get a Shrimp Chicharron for $6 and a Vampiro (Chicken or Carnitas) for $8. The shrimp one was appetizing. I even remember thinking after the first few bites that I should have just gotten two of those. Then I tried a piece of chicken from my Vampiro. It was a piece of straight fat that I immediately spit out. That pretty much killed it for me, and I didn't even eat anymore of the Vampiro or anything else for that matter. The positives of the evening included: -Getting into a spot to celebrate on Cinco De Mayo -The food came out quicker than expected based on the reviews -Trying a new restaurant and learning that it's nowhere I will be returning to or recommending. Knowledge is power.

I believe they have several locations in the area, and this is a newer one with very welcoming and modern interiors. They have wonderful daily specials and various happy hour periods that extend from 2 to 10 PM, including $3 tacos from 8 until 10 PM. Meals start off with complimentary chips and salsa (4.5/5), which are happily refilled upon request. We tried a variety of tacos (5/5) which were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The vegetarian San Jose's fajita bowl (4.5/5) was tasty and served in a generous portion that is ideal for sharing. The cheese quesadilla (5/5) hit all the fresh flavor notes without the cheese being too sharp in taste. The churros (5/5) were the perfect dessert, having a slightly crunchy exterior and softer core as you bit into it. Service (4.5/5) was excellent on our first visit, and slightly slower on our 2nd visit, but still incredibly friendly with management checking in on customers to make people were enjoying their meals. Overall, I'd rate the food and experience a 4.5/5, but happy to round up since San Jose's is right up my alley for an ideal Mexican meal that is delicious and doesn't gouge you with prices like other restaurants tend to do. I'll gladly return on future trips to the Orlando area and will be recommending them to others, as San Jose's would crack my rotation of a Mexican restaurants I'd regularly visit if I lived locally.
