The decor of this restaurant is very unique and pleasing, and the ambience is casual and nice. We visited Azteca is part of a large group. The restaurant was very accommodating in switching the seating around so that we were all comfortable and could enjoy our conversation with one another. Going above and beyond to make sure that your patrons are seated in a comfortable location is a very nice touch. The server was friendly and thorough in answering all of our questions. We used to come here all the time about 2 years ago, but something has changed. The food supplier feels cheap, like a Cisco brand. Steak looks like low quality meat and the sour mix is the margaritas is awful now. This place is too "chain" now and you can taste it. read more

In the city for work and this was close to our hotel. This is a laid back casual spot. Food: Excellent, I decided to go with the Macho Burrito with Picadillo and got a side of sweet plantains. The burrito was flavorful and big enough for anyone's appetite. Service: Excellent, we were greeted as we arrived by a host at a reception type desk, he and our waiter David were equally friendly and polite. I've dined here before but my most recent trip there was for my 22nd birthday dinner. The table service was wonderful. They catered to the dining experience in which I wanted. They brought me a free bday tequila shot & let me wear the sombrero the whole night. The margaritas were delicious. A hint to sweet for my liking, but that's just a me thing. The food was also a hit. We shared chicken nachos and a picadillo quesadilla. One thing I loved about the nachos was that the queso to meat to chip ratio was very on par. It was the cowboy's (my) 45th birthday and it was chosen to eat here. We made a reservation for three people at 6pm on a Sunday. When we checked in, we were seated in a booth. I was told that Sunday had all day happy hour, so I did 2 for house margaritas. While it was served in a large glass, it was weaker than a stubborn burro. I knew one of my guest wanted it with less alcohol, but perhaps my server mistakenly thought that I wanted it weak as well. I was pretty sure I requested the normal alcohol amount. If it was the normal amount, then they should call it the triste hour instead since we didn't enjoy it. For my entree, I took the chicken fajita quesadilla with double rice, no beans. There was a generous amount of quesadillas and inside had nice amounts of chicken, veggies, and cheese. They tasted alright. The tortilla was grilled nicely. The included guacamole and sour cream could have been bigger sized, but was good. The Mexican rice was filling enough. When I asked for hot sauce, I was given a salsa that had a smoky flavor instead of bringing the heat. The service was ok. They were helpful when we had a couple requests. There was a photographer taking photos, which we were given a free small photo, and them trying to sell us other larger photos. I wasn't impressed by this and also didn't enjoy being asked to get very close together. The atmosphere looks like you are in the outdoors with various fake trees inside. There is ample amount of seating, as well as a bar too. I did smell a bit of chemical cleaner when we arrived. While I do enjoy the branch in West Colonial Drive, the UCF branch doesn't seem up to par. With the weak and almost tasteless margarita, the chemical smell when seated to our table, and the unnecessary photographer, this didn't make my 45th birthday festive and felize. The only redemption was the decent service from our server, nice atmosphere, and passable quesadillas. I will most likely avoid this branch and stick with the West Colonial branch instead. read more

Stopped here after church on Sunday 3/16 because we wanted something authentic. There wasn't a single piece of food that was packed with flavor. The service was on point. The food presentation was on point. The street tacos were untouchable, UNTOUCHABLE. Show me a better street taco! They served us food that actually slowed down time and space every time I took a bite. It was like crunch, then everything was in slow motion , couple of head nods, cheeks enlarged because of the smiles and all you could do enjoy the experience and awaken taste buds that have never truly understood what street tacos were! Full disclosure...my wife is of Mexican heritage. Her parents are from Jalisco and she was born in East LA (yes I sing the song to her any time I can make an excuse to do so ). My mother in law taught me to make her style of salsa (they call it chile, sounds like cheelay). I make red and green. My wife makes homemade enchiladas, gorditas, tacos, sopa de fideo, rice, beans, etc. I guess bear that in mind. The ambiance was fun. The staff was very friendly. We were seated quickly and in good spot. The chips. Stale. No salt. Not warm. Salsa. Has potential. There are some char marks in there so some of its grilled. Decent flavor. No spice. Like none. I ordered carne asada steak. I love skirt steak, it's one of my favorite cuts. My wife had it chicken enchiladas. She said they were ok, which means she didn't like them. Listen my steak was cooked perfectly. I mean perfect. Tender. Soft. Medium. Man it looked so good. They didn't season it. It was hands down the most bland cut of meat I've ever tasted. My wife is not a big salt person. I had her try it and she didn't taste any salt or anything else either. She looked at me and said, "Did they forgot to put salt on it?" This is an excellent Mexican restaurant excelling on all chapters: food, service and ambiance. We always order the sopa azteca flowed by steak, tacos or sizzling fajitas. The beer is always fresh, cold and delivered with a smile. Although is may be a little over the budget for the UCF students from the campus which is 3 minutes away... it is always the place of choice when us parents come to Alafaya to visit our Knight. read more

I was in Orlando the weekend of July 28 so on Saturday I was on the search for Mexican food as it's my favorite this placed popped up with great reviews so there I went the atmosphere was phenomenal it was a beautiful restaurant incredible service and great food! The Equites was so tasteful , love me some chips & salsa , my drink was refreshing, the shrimp from the fajitas were phenomenal although the steak was a lil rough over cooked it still tasted good if I revisit since I am an out of towner I would definitely advised them not to overcook the meat! I came to the UCF location twice this year once in January and on 11/20/23. The first time I had a blueberry margarita, which was pretty good. I also had their fresh guacamole and salsa and chips were served as well. Daughter and I also had chicken quesadillas. The guacamole, salsa and chips lacked flavor. I've had much better. The quesadillas were good. My recent visit was not any better. I ordered the margarita flight, which I was told was the equivalent of one of their large margaritas. I also ordered the quesadilla and the coconut shrimp. I was sitting at the bar so the chips and salsa were also given to me. Salsa is still not good, nor are the chips. Quesadillas was good and the coconut shrimp did not even have a hint of a taste of coconut. Worse, my flight of margaritas tasted virgin. I did not taste liquor. I think I was cheated so I don't recommend that anyone get the flight. Bartender was very nice. Maybe I'll go back and try something different or maybe I won't. I'm on the fence. read more

Absolutely love the ambience in this little place. The trees are super cool and the unique lanterns give off a romantic hue. The combination platter was good, but not great. Azteca D'Oro continues to deliver consistent flavor after so many years! I found Azteca years ago while attending UCF, it was a great spot to eat a proper meal and hang out with friends. After many years, Azteca continues to be my go-to Mexican restaurant. The food is great and they have the best free chips and salsa in Orlando (in my opinion). My favorite meal is the fajita quesadilla steak. The steak is always cooked to perfection and it is tasty. I also like the tacos al pastor, the flavor is almost as good as tacos I have tried in Mexico. My husband also likes the fajita trio with chicken, steak and shrimp but we didn't order it during this visit. They recently did a renovation and the place looks amazing inside.The decoration is modern but keeping its Mexican essence present. Few things to keep in mind, they have live mariachis on Friday nights and excellent happy hour specials throughout the week. Margaritas are a must! If you are looking for a great Mexican place in East Orlando, this is the place to go. read more

It's so so, overpriced for what you get and really isn't authentic. The flavors are kind of lacking. But the atmosphere is cute and the bar is aesthetically pleasing, so maybe for drinks at the bar to watch a game would be okay. I just wouldn't return for Mexican food. Overall quality of food good but limited menu. We had a very large birthday party. Server often didn't bring sides even when reminded like pico. My first margarita I ordered with Don Julio Reposado and Grand Marnier tasted flat with little or no alcohol. I should have sent it back. I then ordered a house margarita. It was good but was different then my daughters house margarita. Definite inconsistency with the bar. Good food included Pollo Asado Al Carbon - very tasty chicken. Grandson liked Tacos Di Birrata. This was an enjoyable meal. We came to this place on a recommendation and really enjoyed the food. The restaurant is on University Blvd not too far from the UCF. Parking is plentiful and when you go inside, the interior is really a cool ambiance. They have decorative treats with lights hanging all around the restaurants that creates a cool environment. When we arrived we were seated almost immediately. it is worth noting that shortly after we got there the restaurant did get busier. We started with table-side guacamole, which came pretty quickly. The restaurant has a person that goes table-side and makes it to your liking. They also started with Chips and Salsa. The chips were hot and the salsa was just a bit too spicy for my personal liking. My honest opinion of their table-side quac was that it was just OK.....probably a leverage to be honest - so overall the starters were OK, but did not wow me..... but them came the meal. I ordered something called Plato Fiesta.......which is kind a like the best of all worlds. I was initially leaning toward the Carne Asada,, but opted for this dish because it had that, plus chicken,, and a Mexican Shrimp dish......I am glad I did b/c the Shrimp (which was probably the last thing I would have ordered individually at a Mexican restaurant) was the best of the trio - they were all pretty good, but the Shrimp was outstanding topped with bacon and cheeses. My while ordered the Arroz con Pollo which looked and tasted fantastic (I stole a sample!) the other dishes that the family ordered all looked fantastic as well. The presentation here is both good and plentiful. It happened to be Happy hour while we were there and my wife ordered a Sangria (again - I sampled - it was average, but tasty enough). The waiter was sure to let her know of the 2 for one and what time it ended about 30 min before, this allowed her to ensure she ordered before she could take advantage of the deal. Price-wise, this place was a little on the high side, it was find for a once and a while outing, but it could get expensive quickly. Overall there was a mix of really good and average . The good definitely outweighed the average - so don't let it stop you from trying to out. read more

I am not sure about everyone's experience but today me and my spouse wanted some good tacos and we took a gamble for this place! Good music, not so busy as we came around 2pm but food was hot and fresh and the best part was the pastry dish the "Mini Empanadas." Being a native Southern Californian, we know our Mexican food. It's more like a religion than a preference of meal choice. One of the hardest things about moving to Florida was knowing it would be hard to find something comparable to the variety and 24/7 dives with rolled taco goodness that you can't describe, only consume and enjoy the ecstasy of melted cheese, guac and sour cream goodness. To my surprise and delight, Azteca d'oro comes super close and is a delicious option for Mexican food aficionados. Let's be clear. Tex Mex is not the same. They offer Tex Mex options with their black beans and mole sauces, but here they shine for me is their enchiladas and refried beans. They have a huge menu and options range from tacos to taco salads, fajitas and flank steaks. Their tamales are incredible and can be ordered a la carte, which I recommend on the side of a combination plate for your first time to get a sampling of different things. Their Chile Relleno hits the spot and is large, so bring your appetite! It's very affordable ranging from $10-20 for most dishes. I haven't had their seafood. The waiter Uri was fabulous. We did not have to wait on anything. He was always there with our food and drinks very quickly. The Muscato was very fruity and delicious wine. It happen to be happy hour so my friends that participated got to take a to go cup home. The chip and salsa was fresh a little spicy but it made me order guacamole so cool it all down. The guacamole was nice and chunky. I ordered chili Renos that was very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. One of my friends ordered the fajitas and the onions and vegetables looked fabulous. This used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant. I used to visit all 3 of there Orlando locations. And believe me I've eaten at hundreds throughout central Florida. Since they remodeled, the prices have almost doubled. The portions/servings have shrunken to half size and have you tasted the nasty Nachos which they pour a cheap white velveeta cheese rather than the real cheese they used to use. BARF! Sorry Azteca, you have lost your biggest fan. I give it a 1 star because there is no choice for 0 or negative stars. read more

First time coming here which is literally down the block from work and every time I pass this I tell my husband we need to come and give it a try. The decor inside is beautiful! Reminds me a little of Rocco's in Tampa but I loved how much cozier it felt inside. The bar area was perfect we sat there and the chairs were super comfortable. The hostess in the front was super friendly professional and we asked to sit at the bar instead and of course he said yes he moved us from a booth to the bar. The bartender Maria (MAFER) was great! She provided us some helpful tips on what is popular at the restaurant. We ordered fajitas, and sweet plantains on the side. The sweet plantains were so good and tasty. We ordered the fajita sampler and it was delicious comes with steak, chicken breast and shrimps, only thing for me was the shrimp I felt it needed a little more flavor maybe like a garlic lemon pepper type taste. For my taste I wish it was that type of flavor. Everything else was perfect the rice, beans and tortillas were fresh. I tried the azteca beer which was delicious! And my husband ordered Azteca Margarita with the coronita inside. We will be going back to try new items on the menu. read more
