This place never disappoints! We went in close to closing time and they still welcomed us warmly. The food came out fast and fresh and the flavor was superb. I really love that they have breakfast all day and I think their menu in general has lots of options. They also have daily specials which have yet to disappoint. We got the queso to start, a breakfast taco platter, as well as the Friday daily special and the total was around $30, well worth the money! Not to mention, the overall decor and vibe of the interior is super cool. I love seeing places with unique character and I hope they keep it this way for a long time. I mean where do I really even begin?? No really, where do I? Coming into the restaurant it isn't clear if you seat yourself or go to the counter, you have to figure it out yourself. There are 2 menus, 1 highlighting more brunch style items and the other more lunch and dinner options. My order: 2 chalupa combo (rice & refried beans and drink). You choose your own meat(s), I chose brisket. I rate it 2/5... first issue I got toastadas not chalupas, the flavors were very plain. The jalapeños did the heavy lifting. The brisket was strangely sweet, I didn't enjoy it. Also it was cut wrong(with the grain), every bite drug out the entire piece of meat. Hubby got the 2 taco combo (same as above) he also chose brisket (it was sweet). 1/5, sweet brisket is not his cup of tea. The tacos came with lettuce, tomato and avocado on the side. Where is the cilantro and onion!? To complete our order we tried the churros which were super hot fresh and sweet but the caramel sauce made them one note and easy to get tired of. We also tried the red and greens sauces, neither had much flavor or heat. The meal itself underwhelming. While the ambiance was that of a sports bar or bar and grill it wasn't overly loud. The music was low but loud enough to enjoy. The TVs played several different sports networks. The service was typical, with a nice cashier who answered my questions super nicely. Our food did come out in a timely manner but I would've waited any extra amount of time if that meant the food tasted better. Reliably delicious tacos, with tons of different options. You order at the counter, and the staff are always friendly. They have a full bar and some great beers on tap. This time I tried the spicy shrimp taco (which was definitely a little spicy), a chicken fajita taco, and the traditional ground sirloin taco. Each was great, hot, and very flavorful. I always stop by after going to the dentist. I usually get the spicy fried chicken taco but I feel like they changed the recipe. So this time I got the grilled fish and the shrimp mango habanero tacos. The fish taco was good with the jalapeno ranch. I had to cut the fish in half though. It was just too much. The absolute worst so-called tacos I have ever choked down. Never again! BLAND, all BLAND sprinkled with cold. The salsa tasted like water, the meat was ground into a sand like grain, the cheese tasted like the lettuce and no seasoning anywhere. If I was a younger man, I would've ran to the DALLOR TREE and found some Ortega salsa and a pocket sized Butane single burner camp stove to take back. After a long morning of challenging meetings & starving, I thought I order online and skip the take out wait. This was my first online order at taco joint, I typically order onsite. Anyhow, I ordered the 3 crispy taco combo. Pickup was fast and when I got home, I saw the tacos had only meat and cheese. No veggies. I thought about it and realized, that when ordering online I must of forgotten to select the veggies??? WTH! Typically, customers ask to omit or add things. I was ready to cry. I don't recommend ordering on website, it doesn't make sense. Imagine if I didn't select meat, would they had given me only the crispy taco shells? This place has pretty decent crispy tacos, hence the 3 stars but the online order experience was awful. I think, the place should've repeated the order to me at pickup because the order was a bit non-typical. I could've assembled this simple naked taco at home and save money + tip. I'm super disappointed. I don't think I'll go back for a while. This combo costed ~$15. read more

When I visit my family in Dallas we always have a taco night. Because...Texas! This is a good spot for that. They have tasty $7 margs and a delicious selection of tacos. This night I ordered the pork taco and the street taco with chicken. They were both delicious. They are amply stuffed with really good meat and one can find a variety of hot sauces and crema for toppings. I got the big Tex breakfast burrito, $11 including tax. Well cooked, well seasoned, the fajita beef was perfectly tender and had flavors reminiscent of carne asada. Although the other elements are well cooked and flavorful as well, the beef carries the burrito so I wish there were more throughout, in each bite. I've had many a breakfast taco, but I'm pretty sure Taco Joint is my favorite in the Dallas area. Tons of choices - all mix and match to make your preference - and plenty of seating, cold beer, serve-yourself-salsa and an outdoor patio. Even though they, like everyone else these days, are short staffed you would never guess it. Food is served fast, everyone is friendly and this is just about as much as you can ask for. Great food, funky atmosphere, and best for me, super early opening at 6:30 am M-F. 8 am on weekends, I think. Plus the bar is open early, too, for those who drink (I don't). Plus specials each day. This is a Tex-Amex spot not an "authentic" Mexican food joint, plus it's a chain restaurant. (But I guess authentic depends on your perspective, I'm Mexican) having said that, I actually like this place. I like me a good Tex-Mex place, I don't always have to have authentic Mexican, sometimes I carve something more Americanized and this place has some good food as long as you prepare yourself for Tex-Mex not Authentic! I've ordered from this restaurant twice in the past week, and while the food is good, I've had an issue with the churros both times. The Uber Eats description clearly states I should receive 8 churros, but I've only gotten 4 each time. This time, I called to speak with the manager and was told it's a known issue that has caused confusion for other customers as well. The fact that this hasn't been corrected on their menu shows a lack of attention to customer service.
