What a terrible disappointment! I was out here for a few days back in 2005 or so with an…read morearchaeological crew, and we ate breakfast lunch and dinner at this place. Excellent rice, flavorful beans, machaca to die for, all fresh and delicious. I found myself driving through Bridgeport again yesterday, and was looking forward to stopping in for a bit of the same. No such luck. The rice was flavorless, and tasted like it came out of a can. Ditto the beans. The machaca had just a hint of that flavor I liked, but it was old, likely made the day before or earlier. And the warm tortillas were not only store-bought, they were dry to the point they were cracking around the edges. Really? On top of all that, they had Fox News playing on the television. It's almost like they were trying to say "Leave, and never come back. We hate our lives. Just shoot us." And the bathroom, which I visited on the way out, was absolutely filthy. What better way to say "We just don't care anymore"? What a shame to see such a good thing go so bad.

After leaving for the military and spending time on both the East and West Coast, I can honestly say this is the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. In this area of Nebraska, tacos are often deep fried and I really like to eat them this way. I opted for a combo plate with a tamale, enchilada, and a deep fried taco filled with hamburger. Someone else had a taco plate that had 3 tacos. Beans and noodles are sides that come with the combo plates and the noodles (I don't know what they are called) were very tasty. Chips and salsa are also served with your order. The salsa is not your usual salsa in a bottle type with tomatoes, and was tasty but not too hot.

I ordered the 2 enchiladas with the tamale, the tamale was completely inedible and hard/crunchy. Also my chicken in my enchiladas was so dry. We've been in twice already! There are so many Mexican restaurants in the area, but this is…read moredefinitely one of the better ones. Both times we went in, the staff was awesome and the food was delicious. The chips are so good. I think they are homemade? They are kind of thick and crispy. The red and green salsas that come with them are both really good. They have just the right amount of spice. I don't usually care for soft rellenos, but the ones they have here are pretty good. The batter isn't too thick so you get a lot of the chili flavor. The enchiladas are good too. I've only had the flour tortillas with cheese filling, but I like that you have the option to get corn tortillas. I really like the beans and rice. That's usually how I judge a place. If they have good beans, rice, and salsa, I will return. The beans are thick and creamy and not dry at all. The rice is fluffy and seasoned well. Hubby had a breakfast burrito that was pretty good. I like that they have a list of items that you can choose to put in your burrito. You can have so many good combinations. I'll have to go back to try something else! Cheers!
