La born and raised Mexican American. I'm always on the road for work so it becomes quite difficult to find a decent Mexican restaurant that's up to my standards. Stopped by here and grabbed their 3 enchilada plate with corn tortillas 1 of each chicken/ground beef/ shredded beef with green sauce and rice and beans. I recommend getting the chicken over the beef options, also I didn't much care the beans. Everything else was good. The owner was polite and kind, recieved good service from my waitress, food was good, and the prices are cheap (you pay $18+ for the same thing in LA!) Like many restaurants these days, Mi Ranchito was under staffed. Despite that the staff they did have was courteous and prompt. The cleanliness of the dining area was good. The men's bathroom needed an enthusiastic cleaning, but is wasn't the worst ever. The food was adequate in portion and quality for the price. WORST Mexican Resturant EVER. I write this is hope it wil inspire the owners to improve their restruant. Had Chili Relleno plate. Canned beans, instant rice as sides. Relleno was Awful. Fake cheese, canned chilis, floor mat tortillas. after being locked up for two days, I finally got rid of this meal. AVOID. On the up side, the staff was excellent. read more

We entered and it had a very nice homey feel. Signs indicated that they were short staffed, not sure if they had more than 3 people working that night but it didn't affect our wait at all and the service was great. If this was located anywhere outside Western Nebraska, I'd give it a 2-Star rating, but here in Sindey - where decent food is tough to come by - it's a 3. This is a decent Mexican joint across the street from Cabelas Headquarters and for locals it serves a great purpose, but for out-of-towners it's average, at best. I ordered the mixed fajitas and while the chicken and shrimp weren't bad the steak was terrible, very rough and tough. I tried one piece, spit it out and left the rest. On a positive note, the place couldn't be more affordable. Taco Bell like prices for a decent seat down and when you're in Sidney, this might be ruled a good sit down. read more

There at about 1 PM and very pleased to see that is wear the locals go after church. The menu was varied and prices were good. The chips and salsa appeared on the table before I could open my menu. I had a guacamole toastada that rocked for $2.50 and my husband had a combo enchilada plate for $5.99. We pass through Sidney a couple of times per year on long road trips. We have tried nearly every restaurant in town over the years, and most (especially the Buffalo Grill) are disappointing. Mi Ranchito offers a simple menu with authentic Mexican food. Service was very fast and our waitress was friendly. The food is definitely edible. When I saw the sign outside where it stated "Fine Mexican Food", I was looking for "Fine Mexican Food". Which to me is with the best Mexican ingredients. I had the Chile relleno plate. 1st chille rellenos are made with Poblano peppers and are dipped in a fluffy egg batter, which this was not poblano peppers and were only batter in simply whisked eggs. The cheese used was cheddar which isn't a "fine Mexican" ingredient. The tortillas used are store bought, which is ok, but not in a "Fine Mexican Food" restaurant. I think the sign should read "Casual Tex-Mex Food" and evening then wouldn't receive more than 3 stars. read more

I have a soft spot for Mexican cuisine. We stop across the road for a couple hours so I thought I give this place a try. The food is okay. The salsa did seem a little weak, but every place has its own recipe. I ordered the El Ranchito Taco. The picture in the menu made it look small, so I was understandably surprised when I saw that it filled the plate. As for the service, my waitress was not rude or short, but she could have smiled a little more. Overall it's not great, but not horrible either. To me, Mi Ranchito represents my own "comfort food" version of Mexican. I've been eating here so long that I know the menu inside and out. I've been to some great Mexican restaurants all over the country and I think our little home-town place stacks up just fine. I especially like the green chile sauce and Pedro's Burro. read more

Surprisingly good Tex Mex. Unique incorporation of eggs onto chile rellenos and enchiladas. Quite delicious comfort food. No liquor license but the horchata almost made up for that. Great service in a laid back atmosphere. Vegetarian friendly even though nestled in cow country. read more

I know if you are from California you have had better Mexican food, but this is still a good, quick, affordable Mexican meal if you are traveling down I-80. This place is ridiculous! I ordered take out. ONE beef burrito, ONE cheese quesadilla, and an order of cheese dip. When I go to pay my total is 19! Didn't even come with chips or salsa. I asked the cashier what am I suppose to eat my dip with and she tells me chips and salsa are 4.99 extra! She tells me she can give me a complementary salsa and brings me the tiniest cup of salsa I've ever seen and still no chips! When I got home my quesadilla was dry and made with just regular cheddar cheese. I will never eat here again and I suggest you not waste your time or money here. Food wasn't even good. After driving across the vast expanses of Nebraska all day, we needed some food. Sidney was the oasis at the end of the tunnel. Literally in the middle of nowhere as the middle of nowhere can get, a small cluster of businesses off the highway including this Mexican restaurant graced us. This was the obvious choice for us compared to the fast food that comprisrd the rest of the restaurants here (despite having also 4-star Mexican in Illinois the previous night. Yolo). First of all for this restaurant I would love to congratulate our excellent waitress for a job well done. She was friendly and enthusiastic. The food was fairly standard for a Mexican restaurant in the eastern/central US, although the menu was fairly extensive. The tacos I got were good. Not as good as some places I've been, but honestly, for being out in this vast nothingness and the somewhat scariness of the gas station we went to in Sidney, they were really good. Probably the best for hundreds of miles away.. by default and by merit. The beans and rice were typical for a place like this. So-so, not bad, but nothing to really talk about. An unexpected twist came at the end of our meal when the waitress brought us a sopapilla and some honey. It was GOOD. Wow. Like, wow. The sopapilla probably pushed this to four stars combined with the excellent service, relative speediness, and the being in the midst of a quintillion grass blades where the cattle outnumber the people.
