By far the best Mexican restaurant in Sterling. Family owned and operated. Food is so delicious and always served super hot. They bring delicious beans with the chips and salsa. I love their Carne Asada plate and all the shrimp plates. The Spanish rice is incredible also. Everything is full of flavor and spice. read more

The food was pretty good, the chips were yummy and so was the salsa. When my dish came out it was hot and tasty. The issue i had with this place was the Service and cleanliness of the building. When we walked in the whole place smelled bad, not just bad food, but bad body odder. The Then, they couldn't figure out where to seat us, there were tons of tables and booths available. When they finally seated us, they threw us way back by the managers office next to what looked like their catch-all storage booths. Stacks and stacks of things like inventory and boxes all around us. We were seated very far away from everyone else. During the meal they didn't pay much attention to us as far as asking if we needed more to drink. When we were done, standing up at the front counter made me realize how sticky the floor was. My shoes stuck firmly to the floor till i left. As i walked out of the building, i could see where we were sitting, and the two ladies that were clearing away our tables kept pointing at me and laughing. I felt very offended just by being there. It was possible that the restaurant had 2-3 other servers but we didn't see anyone else. This older lady was almost literally kicking us out. Let me preface my review by saying that I take the Star rankings very seriously. If the food, service and venue are merely "good" then it deserves and gets 3 stars from me. If it's exceptional then that's worth 4 stars. It get's 5 stars if "as good as it gets" or the best I've ever had. That being said, the food, the service and the venue are good, not exceptional and certainly not the best I've ever had when it comes to the many Mexican restaurants that I've eaten at over the years. But, that's not a bad thing. I had the combination plate this evening with a taco, tostada and enchilada. As other have said, the chips and salsa were very good. They messed up my order, but when I brought it to their attntion they made everything right, so no harm, no foul. All in all, I've got no complaints - everything was quite tasty. read more

Almost everything I tasted here was loaded with chili powder flavor. The rice and refried beans were pretty good. The hot sauce might has well just be water and chili powder. Chicken fajitas were overpowering with chili powder flavor. The service was very good but I just could not get over the food. I did feel full at the end of the meal after not eating that much.. Probably from the MSG in the chili powder. I'm from Texas and eat Mexican food almost daily, this might be the worst Mexican food that I've ever had. read more

Stopped in after a camping trip at good old Lake "Matthew" McConaughey. We were sat immediately. The restaurant was clean and had a mom and pop/diner feel to it but with Mexican food. The chips and salsa which are free were AMAZING! They give Roy regrows beans for dipping with the salsa too which I have never had anywhere else and it was great. The salsa was so good I couldn't get enough of it. Our server was very sweet and took great care of us. I had a tostada and chile relleno combo. My hubby had a chicken burrito. They make the chile relleno with the traditional egg instead of batter like most places do. I much prefer it that way as it is not as heavy or oily. My dish was good but it was not as flavorful as I was hoping. My husbands chicken burrito was huge. The red chile sauce they put on top was good, but it was a little on the salty side. Overall we had a good experience, enjoyed some pretty darn amazing chips and salsa and had great service. Might have to make a trip back there next time we head to Lake McConaughey. read more

If I could give a restaurant zero stars, then that's the score this establishment deserves. They're food isn't what's written on the menu. I ordered the chicken fajitas which clearly state in the menu that it comes served on a bed of onions and green peppers. Upon arrival of my food the fajitas were served with tomatoes which I'm allergic too. After looking at the menu again to check if it came with tomatoes, because maybe I just over looked it, there were no tomatoes listed on the menu. When I asked the waitress about their menu and the items on my plate that weren't listed, it became a huge ordeal to just get what I specifically ordered off their menu. After going back and forth she asked "well are you even allergic". To which my boyfriend responded "Yes ma'am, she actually is very allergic to tomatoes. Is there anyway your kitchen would have the courtesy to make the meal she ordered off their menu." She eventually asked for my plate and took it to the kitchen without saying anything. About 20 minutes later she finally emerged out of the kitchen to bring me my meal without tomatoes. After receiving my food it was actually pretty good, but I will never return due to their extremely poor service. read more

Not impressed. Wait staff slow and low energy but that's probably just area. Chips and corn tortillas had a weird taste I couldn't tell if it was bad or old oil or stail but left a bad taste in mouth that wouldn't go away. Just felt like it was dirty Mexican food. The enchilada sauce was brown and different not bad but not great. To each is own I guess. Everything had a lot of heat too. Do not go here! Horrible service to start. They have quarter machines by the front entrance. My daughter really wanted a toy. I only had dollar bills and they would not give me change. First thing, bad start. Made me wonder if I paid my bill in cash if I would get change. Second, our waitress was unfriendly and not personable. She did her minimum job of take our order and bring the food. That's its. Last, the food. Wow, it sucks. I ordered chili rellanos. It was a scrambled egg stuffed with cheese and pieces of pepper. They topped it with tomato sauce and a few pieces if chicken. I never had anything close to this as a rellano so I asked the waitress what it was. Came here this weekend while visiting family. We had a party of 5 and were sat at a 4 top with a chair at the end. If it was busy I would be fine with this but it didn't look too busy so it was a little tight. It seemed like there was only one server so the service was a little slow but she did what she could. The chips, salsa, and bean dip were very good to start with. I was kind of disappointed they didn't have any cheese dip but that's ok. I ordered a strawberry margarita for a drink and it was pretty good. For lunch I ordered the crema enchiladas. They were delicious!! The enchiladas came with refried beans and rice which also were pretty tasty. The other dishes ordered at my table look delicious as well. We ordered the soapapilas for desert.
