I went with the pancakes and Husband had the club sandwich. The fluffy buttermilk cakes hit the spot. The club sandwich was HUGE! Lots of fresh ingredients. Loved the fries too. Everything was clean and inviting. Great stop.

The restaurant is a decent size, and there's plenty of parking available. Overall, the food is delicious! The only issue was with the Reuben. This was not good. I stopped by for breakfast. The place is attached to a gas station. I've had some great food from similarly arranged restaurants, but... not this time. I had a veggie omelet with hash browns and OJ. I tried to figure out what order to talk about these in, since they were all really, really bad. The veggie omelet... it was bad. The green peppers, if I had to guess, had been prepped a few days earlier. They were greyish-green. Not close to fresh. It was just nasty. The hash browns.... they were bad. I've literally never had bad hash browns until I ate here. There was just this flavor.... it wasn't good at all. The OJ was sour. Yelp says to talk about the ambiance. There were some really offensive people playing dice at one of the tables. They were regulars. It was a pleasant distraction from the food. In short- don't eat here.

I always find it difficult to find good food in Wisconsin that isn't brown and fried so I was super…read moreexcited to try this place that was recommended. The first we went we didn't realize how crowded they got and that reservations were recommended. In fact, we arrived early; 5;20 and it was nearly empty. The Host checked us in and said she had some prior reservations coming in at 5:30... fair... so we sat at the bar. She did tell us that it might be a while. After 40 minutes I checked back in with her for some kind of an ETA and she basically just said I have no idea let me check. She never came back to us so we waited another 20 minutes and left. So, maybe our bad for not knowing that we needed reservations but to be fair we did wait an hour, but, communication? Especially as after we asked for an update? So now we're educated and we made reservations the 2nd try. We were seated right away. The food was good but I ordered the duck wontons as an entree they were so overly drowned in the corn topping that I kept insisting they served me the wrong dish. I couldn't find any wontons. The waiter finally pushed some of the Corn aside and show them to me. They're really not wontons as you'd expect, they are more like a ravioli. Not crisp, mushy. I was really looking forward to this dish but I do not recommend it as all you are going to taste is street corn. The waiter had an attitude from the start. Oftentimes I just eat an appetizer and dessert and ask for the dessert menu before I even order but said that since they didn't have many reservations that day they had literally zero desserts. Zero?? Meanwhile, I overheard the other server offering desserts to every single one of her tables at the end of their meals. At the end of our meal, our waiter said "will there be anything else" and I jokingly said "yeah, desert". He just Shrugged and said I can make you an ice cream drink. When he delivered the check, he just tossed a couple of Andes Candies on the table and said here's dessert. Literally TOSSED. They go for fine dining food and fine dining prices but very lazy service. Another example, they serve a wonderful bread when you sit down. It's not served with any bread dishes so when you serve yourself a piece of bread and put your butter on it, and then have to place your buttery knife down on a bare table or back into the common bread serving dish. The utensils are presented wrapped in a paper napkin like you're at a TGI Fridays, not a more upscale restaurant or supper club. Water is only refilled on request (even when it's your only beverage?) although they serve a wonderful bread, it's served with those cafeteria style butter packets in plastic. On the flip side, my companion said the fried perch was good.

Made reservations in advance for our wedding anniversary. The place looks like a dump outside, but…read moreis decent once you get inside. It took a while to get to our table. Apps are all heavy/fried, so we skipped an app. I ordered a lemon drop martini; the waitress said she'd never taken an order for one before and had questions. I believed it when my lemon drop martini came out looking like water. Now, for a place that supposedly has 175+ bourbons, how was that not mentioned by the waitress or on a drink menu?? Soups for the night sounded gross, no one in our section ordered them. Dinner salads were okay, but sparse and the salad dressing came in gas station packets. For having a reservation, we just felt rushed, especially when the place was practically empty when we got there. Salads came out ASAP, and we weren't even done with them when the entrees came out. The Chrissie's Belle Scallop Pasta was just one-note; I was bored with it after two bites. My husband did like his deconstructed beef burria. We asked about dessert and found out there wasn't any, just ice cream. Definitely the most disappointing anniversary meal we've had in years.

I ordered a vodka press but the bartender told me they don't have that. I'm glad I asked for clarification because she was thinking of the brand "Press." I told her what's in a press and she made one of the most delicious vodka presses that I've ever taught anyone how to make, and I used to train bartenders! The cook came out of the back to chat about drinks. Both staff members were very friendly! There was no beer on tap and lost bottles are local or your basic Wisconsin beer choices. He got a Leinie's original and some jalapeño cheese curds. The cheese curds were not too spicy but very good! The bar has plenty of seating and parking. There is a smokers lounge with gambling machines before you exit to the patio. The patio overlooks a volleyball court and horse shoe pits. If I were a Hixton local, this would be my Cheers!
