2023 menu El Rey De Los Tacos

The food is completely authentic and delicious. This "restaurant" is actually a "taco trailer" but with a wide variety of items. I always get the tamales -- masa and meat stuffing wrapped in corn husks just like back home in Texas. And I get a couple of the small street tacos as well. Lot of meat choices. The rojo (red) sauce has a good heat while the salsa verde (green jalapeño) is fresh and flavorful. I think they are homemade, but not sure. Be sure to get a drink. Besides the popular Mexican Cokes made with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup like here in USA, there is a selection of Jarritos. However, I would strongly recommend one of the agua frescas: either watermelon or pineapple, served in a giant 24 (or 32?) oz. cup. The quesobarrias are delicious with the sauce/broth to dip in. Check it out but avoid early lunch break from next door Foremost Farms!

The best carne asada street tacos I've ever had! The red and green hot sauces were great.

Text your order ahead to beat the crowd. The burrito was delicious and the steak was carved off a rotating rotisserie like döners in Germany. No chorizo but the food is tasty.

First of all Happy Cinco De Mayo everybody. Unfortunately my quest for tacos today was usurped by bad customer service. My wife got a tip today to go here instead of our normal (and very delicious Taco Paisa) to get tacos. We get to the food truck and there are about 8 people waiting outside and around 7 in their cars, so it must be great......I wish I knew. We walk up behind two young men who then commenced to speak to the cashier for 25 minutes. Within that time only one customer got their food and to make matters worst on the 26th minute the young men ordered their food and paid. Of course we are a little hot. The cashier then proceeds to announce if people want their money back if they paid in advance they are allowing it due to the wait and lack of meat. That immediately prompted the 12 or so people who came behind us to leave. To be successful your food truck customer service needs to be more expeditious. Get it together people

The atmosphere is really cool too. I want some of the artwork but it's bolted to the walls. Their drive thru is great as well. Sometimes, it's hard to hear with the main road right next to it but overall, it's not a huge issue. I eat there pretty much every day. They just got lava sauce back so I'm super excited.

I am vegan and lactose so I prefer not to have that in my food personally. Anywho my husband asked politely not to have either of those on the chalupa he says no three cheese blend, please or sour cream. They forgot to take off the cheese so he had to correct them and they took it off, but then a lady jumped on to the other headset and said " next time make sure you say no cheese right away because we already made the Chalupa". Mind you we had asked already for no cheese and then, as I am halfway eating my food, do you know what they added? sour cream. you know what we didn't want? sour cream. unfortunately I didn't see it because they had a placed it underneath the black beans and everything else it wasn't on top. So there was no point for me to bring it back and complain because I had already eaten half of it. I really am just getting sick and tired of all of the rude employees. I'm usually not wanting to throw in a review especially one like this but this really hurt me emotionally and physically.

I've always liked the Sparta side of Fort McCoy better than Tomah, as it just seems more like an individual small town versus a big-box thoroughfare. What a wonderful recommendation, I had a fantastic visit. My co-worker can second the old fashioneds! Staff was super friendly and service was attentive. Clearly there are locals and regulars coming in that know each other by name, but being out-of-towners we were still treated the same and welcomed. We sat at the bar (always my preference), but there is plenty of restaurant seating if you come here with a group or with your family. They have a decent beer selection on tap, and the menu can cover pretty much all appetites. I ordered the veggie burger, which was somewhat generic but nevertheless tasty and I ate the whole thing. Overall, I'd say the food here is good - maybe nothing crazy unique, but good, especially with the somewhat limited options in the area if you want to stay away from chains and fast food. I will absolutely be back for another dinner and continue to try out options on the menu. I'd really love to do the fish fry if I'm ever here on a Friday night. But, who needs dinner when you have dessert?! OMG I'd seen some photos of their desserts online, and even though I'm not usually a dessert person, these photos drove me here that night! Wow. The Brandy Alexander is absolutely incredible. It's large but my co-worker and I each ordered our own (and finished it completely). Anyone can make a Brandy Alexander you sip from a cup... but this was like a soft serve goblet of ice cream with the booze mixed in throughout. The BEST. I will be back here every time I'm in the area just for this (and then good food and beer is always a nice add-on).
