The chicken Rajas I got was excellent and such a LARGE portion! This is enough for three meals! The ingredients were fresh and very tasty. I also ordered a Mexican coke. This restaurant you place your order at the cash register so there was no wait staff. I was given a big circle which buzzed once my food was ready for me to go and get from the counter. Plenty of booth and table seating. It was pricey, but again, mine is enough for three meals.

The first time we thought it may have been an off night so we waited a few months then tried them for a second time tonight and again all of our food was incorrect and we were missing an entire entree. We spent over $100 and when we called to tell them our food was incorrect they did absolutely nothing to get our order corrected...didn't even offer to give us the food that was missing from our order which is all that we wanted...we didn't ask for a refund we simply asked if we could get the food that we paid for. Long story short we will not be back a third time. We were completely disappointed in the food and customer service.

We are finally trying Mexican food outside of Texas. We have not done so since leaving TX in April…read more Thats a long time to go without out TexMex! On a Thursday afternoon at 1:30pm we headed to El Caporal in Sparta, WI Last year after spending the summer in the Midwest states we swore we would not eat at any restaurant that had only 1 car in the parking lot! We broke that myth today! The food was yummy, fresh and what a fun place! We did not have a margarita, but they had small, med, large and ginormous sized Rita's!! A 64oz pitcher of margaritas for $19.99??? What a deal!! The decor was straight from Mexico! So fun and the giant Rita!! For our food we had the lunch Chicken Taco and the Flauta Plate! Both items were wonderful, yummy and very fresh made! Salsa was spicy and chips were crispy! We will be back one day!

If you're looking for a great Mexican food experience, look no further than Taqueria La Monarca!…read more The service was friendly, thorough, and prompt on a Sunday afternoon. We started with the provided chips and salsa then added guacamole. The guac had some good chunkiness and was fresh. The chips are strong enough to hold the guac and a second dip into salsa while not breaking your teeth. I had a carnitas taco and a birria taco and my husband had the nachos with carnitas meat. Both meats were tender and well seasoned. Nachos weren't overloaded with a ton of miscellaneous ingredients, just perfect with the basics. Tacos were on double corn with a good amount of meat, onion, cilantro, and radishes and held up pretty well to the moisture in the meat. Let's talk salsa... The initial salsa is good as it has a great balance of chunky and juicy. With the meal they bring out a hot red and a green tomatillo salsa. They are both delicious!! The red has an excellent sneak and burn factor that will leave you wanting more. The green salsa is so good and your quintessential tomatillo. While I didn't have a margarita, their tequila is well-stocked with a good selection. They also have beer available. As for ambiance - it's right downtown with a bright and beautiful facade. Inside has several colorful murals as well as those dedicated to local sports teams and icons. The bar is good sized and there are plenty of tables for diners. The bathrooms are clean and I'm sure a small remodel is in their future. They've only been open for 2 weeks so just having clean restrooms is good enough for me. Having lived in California and Texas, I can say this is legitimately great Mexican food. 10/10 recommend and would return.

My husband and I wanted to try Hacienda in La Crosse, WI. The restaurant is nice, but upon entry,…read morethe door is way too close to the counter when you enter that you can barely get inside. We were greeted by someone who ended up being our waiter. He wasn't friendly, as he didn't even smile. We sat down, and he took our order. We were both immediately uncomfortable because we didn't get a warm welcome inside of the restaurant. That was the first red flag. We sat down and he brought our salsa, chips, and some white sauce that I always think at other places tastes like ranch with a Mexican flare. It has a tang to it like ranch. Anyways, we finished a round of chips before a different waiter finally came over and asked us if he could get us more chips. Why would another waiter come to our table? We waited quite awhile for our food, again, wasn't our waiter. The food was pretty good. We both ordered Fajita Bowls that had rice, refried beans, peppers and onions, lettuce, sour creamed and guacamole. I had the bowl with chicken and my husband had the steak. Both flavorful dishes! Our waiter NEVER came back to help us!!! A different waiter came over and I asked him for extra sour cream. He was very friendly. I don't know his name, but we sat by the window, which was mostly blocked by a big banner mind you. I wish we had him for our waiter from the beginning. He was always checking on his tables, and the one table behind us he made sure they were taken care of. Our actual waiter, which I never knew his name, has a buzz cut, and a scar on his lip or near it. We had to go up to pay as no one came to the table. Again, not the guy we previously had. I was so angry and this ruined our dinner experience! We are strongly thinking about not returning. Our actual waiter was at the bar making drinks and didn't attend to us at all! I think the guy who took the bill which was also the same "nice" waiter felt uncomfortable because of the whole thing. I was not happy at all about our experience except the food was nice, but again, the lack of care and being treated with respect as a customer went out of the window. Things need to be better with customer service for that waiter! We are at the restaurant around 5ish or closer to 6.
