Two Taco special with black beans and rice.
    Neil B.

Date of visit: 07/27/2025 After completing the first leg of my road trip to the northeast I decided on a stop in Summerville and needed to eat at Taco Boy. I have been to the TB in Folly Beach, both the new high-rise and the older, I believe the first TB on the main drag in Folly so I needed to try this location. As I drove up on the place I could tell this was gonna be different experience than Folly. Then I walked inside and knew It was different. This was quiet and laid back, a more family place. Not that Folly isn't a family place but it has more action since it's on the beach. The food, I decided on the (2) Taco special that comes with black beans and rice. Firecracker shrimp and Carnitas tacos were my pick. I had BL as I waited. The service on this visit was great since I was sitting at the bar which only had a couple people sitting. The food arrived and looked great. After mixing the beans and rice together I put a little TB Danger sauce on it and that spiced it up. I even put a little on the Firecracker Taco, wow... In conclusion this was a good first stop on my road trip. Follow me to see where I go next. Peace.

We come to this location often and it never disappoints! I am a slut for Mexican food, tac-hoe if you will Their tacos never disappoint and I have had all of them! My favorites are the firecracker with shrimp and the carnitas, but again, you can't go wrong! Another must, is the frozen screwdriver. Tastes exactly like the o.g. just frozen! Regardless of your taste, taco boy has something to fit your flavor. In the voice of Flavor Flav, Taco Boyyyyy!

This is a decent taco place to try. This place isn't anything crazy but I really like the atmosphere that it has to offer and they're receiving inside and outside as well to enjoy. The service is really great when it comes to staff, taking care of their customers. There are plenty of options on the menu. The Elote bowl of corn was not my favorite and the flavor was missing. However, I really enjoyed my lettuce wraps and the spiciness of the shrimp. I will absolutely go back and try other things and probably get the shrimp wrap again.

First time at TacoBoy and I can say, I'll definitely be back! Love love love the greenhouse! It was nice to sit there and not be blazing hot! I had the nachos with the tinga chicken!! Omg, so good!! The chicken was seasoned so good! Not dried out! Such a large portion! The churros were super fresh and a great portion as well! We had great service from Vinny! Such a hardworking gentleman! I'd give TacoBoy a 10/10!

Def a 3.5- great service, nice ambience/vibe and a fair amount of vegetarian options. Crispy avocado tacos, vegan chorizo and also a roasted cauliflower one! Chips cost extra but were nicely salted. Also their mexican street corn dip was great as a side. I didn't realize there are multiple locations until I started searching to write this!

This is my second time here and it's such a cute stop for Mexican food. The first time we came we didn't get food, we just got a pitcher of the frozen strawberry margaritas. Which is such a good deal for $45 considering they're $10 a piece. Last night, we went for dinner and got drinks as well. We ordered a frozen mango and pineapple passion fruit margarita. Both were very good. When you get there, you are brought a bowl of fried chickpeas and water. We ordered chips and salsa, a crispy americano, a soft americano, and a soft baja shrimp taco. Presentation was good and the food was super flavorful. Our servers both times have been very nice and attentive the whole time. Definitely recommend.

1/2 of the order I received getting thrown away! Corn shell not like and beans were way overcooked!

Well went in to order to go crab and shrimp quesadilla and got the appetizer for crab and shrimp which tasted like shit! Also I told her the one I wanted was $19. You'd think she would have looked at the price of the appetizer ($14) and knew I wasn't wanting that. My total bill was $21.33. As for the service, well the lady at the front must not have understood me when I said I did not want the appetizer! The place looked great but service needs to improve when you take an order! Suggest providing patron with menu to select from! Great ambiance!

Taco Boy in Nexton has a nice vibe. Large spacious indoor and enclosed, outdoor area. Colorfully decorated and inviting atmosphere. They have a huge two sided bar that looks to seat about 25 people inside and looked to seat the same outside The music was upbeat just the right volume. I was greeted by two young ladies with the biggest smiles that looked like they enjoy their jobs. My waitress, Amy, was nice as well and great to chat with. I went with the Platos Grandes with three tacos, Spanish rice, and black beans. My tacos were a complete mixture: Kimchi Beef, Chicken Tinga, and the classic Taco Americano. I was enjoying my meal not to long after I ordered and everything was delicious! Will definitely be checking this place out again soon. Oh, as I'm leaving I noticed there is a play area outside of the enclosed greenhouse patio area. Neat.

Had high expectations for this place thinking they would have a good menu on Cinco de Mayo as advertised online but they were not aware of the special but we didn't find this out until after a fifteen minute. Basically quesadillas and tacos not my kind of Cinco Only stayed for a margarita and I wasn't impressed by the use of margarita mix, my kind is with the fresh squeezed limes and Cointreau but it is understandable. This is another bar where they add a credit card fee and the fee is also taxed wether you pay cash or credit card My check was 18 for the two margaritas Tax should have been 9% sales tax plus the 2% hospitality tax for the city of Summerville The other 3% is a mystery tax They didn't even have change and I ended up paying 21 dollars in cash So basically the tax was close to 17% Not going back ever A wapping 14% sales tax

OH BOY! I visited the Taco Boy is in Summerville, which is one of their 3 locations. When I arrived there was a little wait, which was to be expected since I arrived during peak hours on a Friday. My group sat at the bar while we waited for a table. The restaurant seemed to be a little short staffed as all of the tables were not being utilized, but they didn't let that stop them! Once seated I ordered a casa margarita on the rocks with chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were plentiful, but they come at a charge, unlike other Mexican establishments. For my meal I enjoyed the veggie soup quesadilla paired with Mexican rice. This is by far the best veggie quesadilla I've ever had, the vegetables were seasoned SO well!! The atmosphere of Taco Boy is very bright and they even have a greenhouse with seating that they open up during the warmer months. There even a cute wall for photo ops.

Food was great! We had the Americana taco, the chicken, bacon and ranch taco and the firecracker shrimp taco. Would rank the firecracker shrimp the best but all 3 were great and I'll order them each again. House margarita was a bit weak but still delicious. Had the jalapeño pickle shots and we were warned the pickle back was actually jalapeño juice and we did not listen lol...it was spicy!!! Delicious but spicy. Will definitely be back to try the Tijuana dog.

The tacos were fantastic and the service was excellent. Justin was more than accommodating even though he was very busy.

The drinks are priced on the higher end, but the relaxed, comfortable atmosphere makes it feel approachable. We also love that they offer seasonal and holiday cocktails, which is right up our alley. We brought Luna along and sat on the patio, which was a nice option. I would love to see heaters added outside to make the patio more comfortable on cooler nights. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive throughout our visit. I ordered the Fireside Chat (served warm), made with Four Roses Bourbon, Croft Tawny Port, apple cider, orange juice, grenadine, turbinado sugar, allspice, and clove ($15). I really enjoyed the flavor profile--warm, well-balanced, and perfect for the season. That said, I was a little disappointed that my second drink wasn't garnished nearly as nicely as the first, especially given the price. Flavor-wise, though, both were very good. My husband started with the Gingersnap, which includes Monkey Shoulder blended Scotch whisky, Disaronno almond liqueur, butterscotch liqueur, spiced ginger syrup, heavy cream, Angostura bitters, cookie rim, and nutmeg ($16). He enjoyed it but felt it was definitely a one-drink cocktail due to how sweet, creamy, and heavy it was. He also ordered the Smoked Maple-Bacon Old Fashioned with bacon fat-washed bourbon, spiced maple syrup, tobacco bitters, and a salted brown sugar rim ($16). This one was a miss for him--too sweet, with the maple and smoke overpowering the drink, and not much bacon flavor coming through. That said, the presentation was excellent; watching the smoke being lit was a highlight, and I even grabbed a video of it. Our total came to about $71 before tip, and we didn't order any food, so it's definitely on the pricier side. Still, for the ambiance, creative cocktails, and overall experience, I think it's worth it--especially for a relaxed night out with a more elevated feel.

Please make sure you sever the lower abductor Mr Oyster Shucker...I don't need to reschuck your oysters and could have done better with my oyster knife in my kitchen on those raw guys. Only gem for my taste buds was the small plate of short rib gnocchi which unfortunately has nothing to do with any type of seafood. This restaurant has been on my list for a long while and I have heard good things but definitely under-delivered on the food. Charred Octopus which was tender was more of a black eyed pea/bean dish with an octopus garnish, 1 of our anticipated apps was tuna tartare...and was extremely salty, totally over dressed with soy, and how many dishes do you need to garnish with zoodles? Give me a break. Many dishes were entirely too salty and meager with headlining ingredients with the exception of the aforementioned zoodles. If you like zoodles on everything by all means give them a shot. But for me please give the zoodles a rest. They are incredibly annoying to try and eat or fit into a lettuce wrap or on a crispy wonton. The service was very good and is the only thing that saved the meal and made it relatively tolerable. Hate that they had literally 14 people in the entire restaurant but sat everyone on top of one another. It's not a pub it's a restaurant. Thanks for the great service but personally not worth revisiting. I left tremendously disappointed in the food. Sorry just being completely honest here. Wanted to love it but left ...honest review.

For my entree, I ordered the 8oz filet mignon, medium-rare. As soon as the server put the plate in front of me, they whipped out a flashlight, shined it on my plate and asked me to cut into the middle of the steak to ensure it was cooked correctly. This bothered me for multiple reasons: 1.) for a restaurant of this caliber, I would expect the chef to know if my steak is cooked correctly and 2.) I like to cut into my steak at the end not the middle. It was cooked correctly but it was not as juicy/flavorful as I hoped it would be. The sides for our table were the most impressive part of my meal; perfect mashed potatoes and probably one of the best creamed spinaches I've ever had! Oddly enough, it was more crunchy than creamy but somehow it worked and tasted delicious. I've had both better and worse steakhouse experiences but at this price point, I expected just a tad bit better. I would still recommend checking this place out and deciding for yourself ;)
