The chef came out to check on our dinner personally. That kind of attention tells you something about the people behind the food. Mezkla sits right near the new theater strip on West 8th, and they're already expanding their dining room. Growth like that doesn't happen by accident. After filling up on my beans, I barely had room for the rest. I used my fingers to scrape the last bit of the beans out of the container. LOL (I could have just settled with the beans and rice.) But I braved it and dug into my chicken taco. We both agreed that the chicken was very well seasoned, moist, but not soggy. It was a good amount of it on the tacos without being too much. We were so full after the beans, rice, and tacos, we had to take a break for a siesta. I still got a tamale, and quesadilla left and Pimp had two tacos. My husband loved the churro (they are small so buy extra). Highly recommend giving this place a try. You order at a counter and can get your food to go. They have a small indoor seating area. Only took about 10 minutes. Parking is on the street.
