I'm always surprised by how many people line up for Taco Bell every single time I pass by (which is pretty often). They recently renovated this location last year and there has been a perpetual line of cars ever since. I would not wait in line that long for fast food. HAHA. BUT it has honestly been years since I had Taco Bell and sometimes ya just crave some cheap, fast food tacos and burritos. It is statistically proven that the fastest way to lose customers is making them wait and having sub-par service. You can easily tick both of those off for this location. Long ticket times so close to closing time, means workers stay longer after close. That's more you have to pay them, and for a big business like Taco Bell that already low balls wages, that's obviously far from ideal. The poor work environment and inconvenient amount of time anything takes, means the workers are less likely to stay. That means going through the hiring and training process more often, a huge waste of resources. The amount of reviews about cross contamination, hair in food, SCREWS IN FOOD, etc. can easily cause concern for health violations. That means the store could be shut down and leased to a new business. These issues are consistent across plenty Taco Bell locations. If you're not gonna do it for the customer, which is the key to business, make a change to save the company time and money. read more

I think I wanna give the place 3 1/2 stars now the crew has adjusted and I think people understand the drive-through pattern so I'm not as nervous when I walk into the store the food is the same like I said just more expensive. This is a great Taco Bell location to pull in for a fast snack as it is centrally located and only minutes from the airport. Just before returning my rental car, I filled the gas a few blocks away then saw the Taco Bell, pulled in, the helpful counter worker knew all about the T-Mobile Tuesday free Taco so I just showed her the promotion and my taco was ready for me in moments. Grabbed a couple of packets of spicy sauce and downed my delicious taco. There is a lot of inside seating, both tables and booths. Restaurant has ample parking and clean restrooms. The drive-thru looked a little busy so I just popped in to do my order. Definitely recommended. I love Taco Bell! read more

FOOD: Grilled Breakfast Burrito - Ahem, it's not $1. More like $1.69 with Hawaiian inflation. Scrambled eggs, liquid cheese, and either bacon bits which I got, or pork. Unlike McD's version, this tortilla is nicely grilled, and is of the same size. The taste was good, but I think the Golden Arches does a better version. Mini Skillet Bowl - Mini is no joke! The hockey puck-sized bowl contains about half of one scrambled egg, breakfast potatoes, drizzled with liquid cheese, and garnished with the pico de gallo mixture from their MexiMelt. Good taste, very tiny. What can you expect for $1.39 right? Hash Brown - Their's is a little wider than McD's version, and tastes similar. I am a big fan of the 7-layer burrito! The layers are simple things: rice, beans, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, tomato, and guacamole. With 5/6 packs of hot sauce, this is my favorite low cost meal in Kahului town. It costs $4.05, which is actually one of the higher cost burritos there (must be the addition of guac.) I stopped here on my way back from a day at the beach and ordered the cheesy double beef burrito big box because it was cheaper than the regular combos. It was good. No complaints. I am posting this experience: A) to warn unsuspecting customers, and B) to treat this as a learning experience for the fairly young crew member who made a terrible judgment call that night. Crew member, if you're reading, I would like you to take a few things from this: - Everyone makes mistakes. If you make a mistake, don't cover it up and blame the customer. Just own it and apologize. Most customers will understand because they've been there before. - If it's a holiday and you aren't in the mood to work, don't. Don't bring your bad attitude to the workplace. - If you hate your job, quit. Don't take it out on other people, especially not paying customers. - Think about the consequences of your actions. What if my brother had seriously injured himself biting the screw? What if he had swallowed it? What if that pizza had been eaten by my mom? 3 stars! Taco Bell has always been a favorite of mine, from small kid time, when they first opened across the street from my house on Oahu. For the most part, the menu has remained almost the same, but there have been items that have come and gone, like the Bell Beefer, Taco Lite and Taco Bel Grande, which all should've been kept (IMHO)! All Taco Bell and Pizza Hut Restaurants are owned by Nimes Capital, which purchased these and other businesses from the Theo Davies Food Group in Hawaii. Although Taco Bell has National advertisements on television, the price of the food here in Hawaii is usually higher, and even higher on the neighbor islands, including Maui. As an example, the "dollar menu" here will run you around a dollar fifty, at least! Higher prices, I'm assuming, is to offset the cost of shipping the products to Hawaii (and then to the neighbor islands)! So, this Taco Bell, located off of Kamehameha Avenue, next door to Walgreens and across the only TJ Maxx Store on Maui (right now), is no exception! Although they seem to participate in the National advertising, the prices are much higher than the prices on the National Ads. What throws me at this location is the fact that I patronize it often, usually drive-thru, and the several times I've gone, noticed discrepancies on their Drive-thru menu. This included the cost of the Doritos Loco taco meal, where the supreme was priced cheaper than the regular. When I pointed it out to them (twice in 2 weeks, since they never fixed it), the employee on duty said sorry, then charged me the higher price for the regular! Usually when a good business prices something incorrectly, the customer will receive the advertised price (since it's the businesses fault) and the business will correct the error. Not here! For the most part, the food is good because it's consistent, and they do have some great offers which come out. But, the drive-thru line can be long and with the side entry area, if you're waiting in line to go straight ahead, be careful of the no-class people who will try to cut in line because they don't feel like waiting! Not sure how there hasn't been riots here yet!!! And not to sound prejudiced, but please put someone in the drive-thru who is easily understood! Hard enough to understand the person on the low-grade speaker box, but if they have a very heavy foreign accent, this makes it worse! I can easily understand and communicate with people with foreign accents who speak English, but some have very heavy accents which can come across as completely incomprehensible over the speaker! And please, if someone orders a 12 pack of tacos and asks for taco sauce, don't just give them 4 packs and expect them to share it on all the tacos! Also, save some money with coupons available on their website, but make sure you go to http://www.tacobellhawaii.com and not the main website. This Taco Bell drive-thru is also open super late on the weekends (Friday and Saturday), drive-thru until 2 a.m.! But be aware this is usually the time when a lot of drunks are driving home, so watch your back! Still a favorite, but I wish there were more in Central Maui! read more

I'm so disappointed. Most days I buy the Hashbrown toasted breakfast burrito for 3.32 after tax (bacon). Today it was gone. They added a couple tiny pieces of tomato (which I don't like) and hoisted the price by almost 50%. I only wish I had given a positive review of the great, reasonably priced breakfast that existed until yesterday. I'm so very, very disappointed. This has to be the worst Taco Bell I have ever been to. They are so shiesty with their portions and sauces! I can go through the drive thu, order 10 burritos for a car filled with highly buzzed peeps, and ask for 'lots of sauce' and see them put in 4 sauce packets! I would say theres two things i feel uncomfortable due to every time we do drive thru, its so hard to see that around where you ready to order theres always a homeless people, that roaming around.
