Picture it: Friday. 4:45pm. Snow falling. 28 degrees. And me? Standing in a taco shack parking lot…read moredreaming of warmer days when I'm sitting at one of their picnic tables pretending I'm on vacation instead of actively battling Central PA winter. Because when the craving for real tacos hits, logic and weather forecasts no longer matter. First things first -- parking is easy. Big stoned lot right at the shack. Love that for me. Second thing -- and this is important -- Little Mexico Tacos is CASH ONLY. I learned this at the counter, which triggered an immediate wallet excavation worthy of an archaeological dig. My goal: secure enough funds for a chorizo burrito and street corn in a cup. I found a $20 bill and decided to live dangerously. Plot twist #1: they were out of rice. Brief emotional damage. Apparently rice is a key player in many menu items, but I pivoted like a seasoned professional because when tacos call, you answer. Plot twist #2: my total came to $20.14. FOURTEEN CENTS OVER. I braced myself for the walk of shame, but the guy at the counter waved it off like the legend he is. Sir, if you're reading this, I hope your pillow is always cool and your tacos are always perfect. Also elite-level move: at freezing temperatures, he told me to wait in my car and he'd holler when my food was ready. That's customer service with survival instincts. Let's set expectations: there is no inside here. None. Zero. This is an open-air taco shack. If the weather isn't nice, you're eating elsewhere... or embracing your inner feral raccoon and demolishing tacos in your car. Now for the important part -- THE FOOD. Street Corn (mild -- because I specifically requested "no spicy chaos"): Creamy. Tangy. Fully sauced. Not bland, not overpowering -- just perfectly balanced. Also served in a cup instead of on the cob, which means maximum efficiency and zero mess - WINNING! Chorizo Burrito: Absolute unit. Packed with just-the-right-level-of-spice chorizo, huge portion size, and -- surprise MVP moment -- the tortilla was lightly crisped instead of being a sad floppy wrap straight out of a bag. Half of this thing could feed a small village. I finished every bite of the meat like it was my job. Bonus green sauce situation included (avocado? wizardry?) that I fully expected to melt my face off -- but instead it was mellow and delicious and paired perfectly with the chorizo. Final verdict: Little Mexico Tacos is the real deal. No-frills setup, big flavors, generous portions, kind humans, and the exact kind of taco shack energy that makes you feel like you've unlocked a local secret. I will absolutely be back when the weather warms up so I can sit outside like a civilized human instead of a burrito-powered winter gremlin.

I really appreciate the speed and the willingness to bring more free chips! Normally I go straight for the tacos, which are always a hit. The specials on the back of the menu are SO worth checking out for some more unique finds. Today I tried a torta (forgive me forgetting the menu name) with birria that was absolutely fantastic. The combinations are also a great price, especially if you can make it for lunch. Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention the happy hour. You can get some great deals here and they have an excellent drink selection. Alongside the alcoholic beverages there are also non-alcoholic smoothies with the same flavor options as daiquiris, so great options there too!!

We got seated fairly quickly. I think we lucked out because when we were finished with our meal, there was a line of guests waiting to be seated. While waiting for our server, I could observe the hostess wiping down each menu after it was brought back to the front counter. I appreciate the cleanliness of the establishment. Jacinto was our server. Very polite, attentive, always made sure we had what we needed. Once we placed our order, it did take a little bit to get our main entrees but that was OK since they gave you complimentary chips and salsa. We ordered the cheese dip as an app and they were more than happy to bring more chips when you ran out. Food came out hot and fresh. The kitchen worker raced to our table with our hot plates balanced perfectly between both arms. I guess he's been doing this for quite some time that he didn't need a table caddy to put it on. Although we didn't order guac, they will bring a mobile cart to your table and personally prepare fresh guac for you. The table beside us finished eating, and employees were "all hands on deck" clearing and cleaning the table for the next guests. I'm accustomed to seeing one bus person clean and area and move on to the next. I would eat here again. Plenty to choose from on the menu; a little bit of everything for the pickiest of eaters.

Cutting to the chase, the brown ale was good, definitely merits the 4+ ratings on beer sites, no doubt. Brewery part of the stop was well-executed. Food took things in a very wrong direction.... Concern being that I ordered a simple mac n' cheese (I guess "large" size - $13.50, what?), adding some "famous pulled pork," which ended up being $16.50 or something along those lines - I received a MICRO, emphasizing MICRO order of mac n' cheese in a small bowl that probably cost them $1.25 to make - great, flavors were just very average and they seemed to be all jazzed that it came with chopped jalapeno on the top. Fancy, y'all. Cost-wise, one pint of beer and this incredibly tiny meal cost over $30, post-tip (still hooked them up) in a dead downtown that frankly needs all the business it can get. Got gas one the outskirts and the strip malls are absolutely surging, which would usually be a major bummer for me, but honestly not in this case after getting econo-slammed. I was honestly shocked there weren't those neon signs in cursive that said stuff like "chow down, chug down," grass on the vertical wall, and other basic things, but I was probably too preoccupied by the fact that every table had "hold for reservation" and I wasn't pointed to sit places, with the bar being full and all, until I asked. Summary - MID, MID, MID food that's in small portions that is an absolute shill in 2025, in a community that's on it's downside economically. So frustrating that places like this are highly-touted.
