We placed an order through the drive-through, but it was very unclear and difficult to communicate through the speaker. When we asked the employee to clarify our order, they did not respond and ended the conversation. When we received our food, the order was completely incorrect. We went back to explain the issue and asked if we could receive the correct order or a refund, but this request was refused. Listen, I know that people all over America will jump all over a guy giving four stars to Taco Bell but I don't care ! These are likely the same people who make their own Kampuchea and tell you they don't watch TV. I am now retired after spending 30 years traveling all over the world for business and eating in thousands of places both upscale and street vendor. My wife and I both love that we can duck into a TB and five dollars and three minutes later emerge with two Bean, cheese, and rice and one grilled chicken ranch burrito unscathed and satiated. If everybody turns their nose up at the thought of a TB, then why are there so many of the suckers and how are they still open? Taco Bell expectations were low going in. Place was not busy at all inside though drive up had a fee cars in line. We were helped right away. Server was nice although did not speak they pointed? Not sure if there was a disability or not but it was fine. Wat appeared to be supervisor kept yelling at them. Ordered #3 burrito with taco Supreme & Mexican pizza. Wife ordered #4 some sort of crunch wrap. First question why is it so difficult to cut the pizza equally? Remember when they would not cut it at all? Anyway the only other thing I have to say is WHERE'S THE BEEF! We did not order the vegetarian meal the pictures show everything has beef in it. After a recent conversation with Luke S about this particular Taco Bell location, I figured it was time to write another update to corroborate. Lately my kiddos have rediscovered their love for TB, along with the Cravings Deal Box for $5. Yep, this is now a weekly rotation for us...especially after a trip to the Sunset Woods skate park. What makes this particular stop so worth it, is the customer service. I'm not sure if Ernest is the same guy I'm thinking of (mentioned by Peter S), but if it is, I'm guessing he's a manager. He's been there forever, he has the place running like a well-oiled machine, and he's so so so so nice. The other night we stopped in with a list of substitutions from our boys and he took care of us like a champ. He even suggested we could save money if we download the app and order right when we get there! Next time for sure. Note: There was a time recently that we stopped in and Ernest (again assuming it's him), wasn't there. The place was chaos and a bit of a disaster. I don't know what it is about this place, but I'm addicted. I get the same thing every time three hardshell tacos with extra cheese.sometimes I substitute the ground beef with steak, sometimes with chicken. Don't forget fountain soda as well as those delicious cinnamon crisps. This is the only fast food joint that never lets me down, is always consistent and always puts me in a good mood. The service was amazing and friendly! They were so kind and understanding, and seem to get along well with each other and the customers usually. The restaurant was cleaned really well. And the food was great. Most of the employees even speak Spanish and are able to take orders from Spanish-speaking customers easily. 10/10 would recommend. This location is about three times further from us than Glenview, but we come here. I think that says enough about how much better this spot is. Our kids LOVE t-bell, so this is a fixture on our routine. The one thing that is important about a chain is consistency. So if you are going to taco bell you know what you are in store for with the food. For me it is a guilty pleasure. So what is important to me is more of the service since the food is pretty darn standardized at chains like tbell. This location has been extremely mixed for me. I have had issues with incorrect orders more often than I should despite the correct order on the display. This place you also have to be very specific with how many packets of salsa you want otherwise you will probably be on the short end. The staff has been polite and usually friendly which is the only reason I am not going with 1 star. This specific location though is pretty poor on execution. read more

No stand-alone Taco Bell existed within 15 minutes of Highland Park, requiring frequent runs to the Glenview, North Chicago, or Wheeling borders. This Taco Bell puts most upscale eateries to shame. I've been to a fair number of Taco Bell locations, and this is my favorite location. This Taco Bell has the best service of any Taco Bell location, or just about any fast food restaurant, in the area. No matter the time of day, they prepare the food quickly and they are very accurate. I sometimes order a variety of things, sometimes with multiple modifiers, and never once have they made a mistake on an order. The staff are all friendly, as well, making the ordering experience that much better. One of their managers, Ernest, is pretty dang cool - he's happy to greet you and quickly chit-chat with you, if you are getting a late night order. I usually use the drive through, and the intercom system is very clear - easy to understand, despite the highway noise just yards away. The display screen also works well, and updates quickly (so you know the order is correct). The few times I've eaten inside the restaurant, it was obvious they took great care in keeping the place clean and well-maintained. The food is unexpectedly good. Having had several bad experiences in the past; I sort of steered away from Taco Bell, or any fast food taco place. Having developed late-night hours, I've been limited to where I can sometimes find a meal. I gave Taco Bell a chance, and was surprised to find they have a number of fairly good menu items - including a few healthy-ish items (at least compared to other late-night options). The willingness of staff to customize your order to suit your tastes or dietary needs helps a lot. Whatever wizardry they do back on the line, to customize a 12 pack of tacos so quickly, I have to give 'em props for. This Taco Bell location, in Highland Park, is among my favorite fast food stops. As one of the few places open after 10pm in the area, it's easily my #1 favorite late-night destination for munchies. They offer up good food, fast service, reasonable pricing, and the employees - especially the late-night drive thru crew - are pretty good folks. read more

I went to this location today. The lady who took my order at the drive thru was rude to me. She yelled at me asking me what drink? I thought that she was so rude by didn't have my card with me. I have gone to places once without my credit card and they have given my meal for free to me. Not this place. I was starving and couldn't find my card. I thought that she could have told me okay this time is free but you will have to come later and pay for it. I would have come back and paid for it later. I just think she handled it bad. The workers at this location are exceptionally nice and hard working. The problem? They are always short staffed! This location is a gold mine. On weekend nights the drive thru is jammed.
