Slow as heck. No sense of urgency whatsoever and they'll get your order wrong too. Avoid at all costs.

We started with the chips and salsa, which were fresh and the perfect way to kick off the meal. The birria fries were easily a favorite--loaded with tender, flavorful birria, melted cheese, and all the right toppings. They were indulgent and definitely worth ordering. The shrimp tacos were fresh and flavorful, while the al pastor tacos were juicy, perfectly seasoned, and had that classic sweet and savory flavor that makes al pastor so good. We also ordered the elote, which was creamy, cheesy, and full of flavor with just the right amount of seasoning. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was casual and welcoming. Between the generous portions, authentic flavors, and great service, Neno's is definitely a spot I'll be coming back to. If you're in Rochester and craving Mexican food, don't skip the birria fries and tacos--you won't be disappointed!

Great Service, But a West Coast Palate Had Trouble Adjusting…read more My husband and I decided to try Rustic Taco Bar during Canal Days, hoping for a taste of our former home on the West Coast. First off, I want to give a huge shout-out to the staff. The service was truly great--super friendly and attentive, especially considering how busy it was during the festival. We really appreciated how welcoming they were. However, we found the food to be a bit of a culture shock for our palates. We understand there are regional differences, and for us, this was very different from the Mexican food we're used to. The tacos were served on flour tortillas that, since they weren't freshly made, could have really benefited from being heated or toasted on the grill to give them a better texture and taste. The biggest surprise for us was the filling. We've learned that "beef" on the East Coast often means ground beef, which was very odd for us in a taco, as we were expecting carne asada. It brought back memories of childhood taco nights rather than the street tacos we know and love. The salsa was just okay; for us, it was really missing that punch of salt and a fresh squeeze of lime juice that makes a salsa pop. Overall, the people were wonderful, but the food just didn't quite hit the mark for our West Coast tastes. If you're not used to SoCal-style Mexican food, you might enjoy this more than we did. For us, it was a reminder that we're a long way from San Diego!

They came with rice and beans on the side, which would've been fine if I hadn't already been given two full burritos stuffed with beans. Somehow I ended up with more beans than rice. On top of that, I had to wait way too long just to ask for sour cream and salsa. The salsa was disgusting. The water was warm. Our server was inattentive and ineffective the entire time, and there wasn't even salt or pepper on the table. I literally needed salt to make the salsa tolerable. Our total was $54, plus a $10 tip. For the price? Absolutely not worth it. Service? Trash. I would never go back.

My takeout burrito was huge and the chips were great (not greasy). They are thicker than the chips at many area Mexican restaurants and held guac without snapping. When I ate there, I got a burrito bowl and the portion was equally big. There isn't any spice, so you will need to add hot sauce to your liking - red and green sauce were on the table for dine in lunch. There are some designated lots down the street for parking as well as street parking.

Our waitress came over after a minute or so, and dropped off menus. I ordered a Paloma drink and we ordered a large guacamole appetizer. The waitress let us know that the kitchen was backed up so it would be best to get an order in right away. My wife ordered a chicken quesadilla and I ordered chicken enchiladas. The drink and the guacamole came out pretty quickly. And we enjoyed both. We finished the guacamole and my drink, so when the waitress came by, I ordered a classic margarita. The waitress wasn't kidding- it did take a while to get the food. But it was a busy night and they had let us know so we were OK. After a bit the Bartender/manager in charge came out to our table and offered us a free round of drinks, some chips and salsa on the house because of the wait. That was nice. And then within about five minutes, our food came and it was excellent. My wife's enchiladas had a toasted cheese on the end of them that was tasty - with the biggest amount of sour cream I've ever seen! My enchiladas was a huge plate of food with some nice rice and some spicy beans too. We ended up taking half of it home so it will be my dinner tonight too lol. Despite the wait for the food, it was a nice night and good restaurant and I will come back.
