Tacos are hard not to love--so many flavors packed into one perfect little package! Whether you're a fan of classic carnitas, tangy fish tacos, or a creative veggie twist, they're always a treat.

My favorite taco salad of all time. The soups and enchiladas are also always amazing, and you can't go wrong with the margaritas.

I got take out for lunch because they have such good lunch deals! If you have a hankering for some Mexican food and don't want to spend a ton this is a great place. The queso isn't my absolute favorite, leaves a slight aftertaste, but it does the job.

Been going here since I moved to Rochester, 3+ years ago and this place never disappoints. When you first walk in, you automatically feel welcomed. Everyone always has a smile on their face and you know from the start, you're going to have great service. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. My boyfriend and I ordered frozen strawberry margaritas, very delicious. I ordered the steak street tacos and my boyfriend ordered the BURRITOS DE PUERCO, both VERY delicious. I would always give this place a 10/10!

I'm writing this review based on being a pescatarian. While I think the taco salad with shrimp is pretty good, it's really the only "healthy" option. At most Mexican restaurants you can find a lot of healthy vegetarian options, with fresh veggies, the only vegetarian options on the menu here are all filled with cheese and no fresh veggies. My husband eats meat and really likes it here, so we eat here a decent amount. The strawberry margaritas are really good. I'm not opposed to eating here, just think there are a lot of better Mexican places out there.

Very friendly waitress. Very much liked the food. I thought the guacamole was excellent. Liked the seating. Booths, tables or sit at the bar. Neat decorations. I would return

We lived in Florida for over 20 years before moving to Rochester 4.5 years ago. We were blessed with amazing authentic Mexican food in Florida. We tried this place in Greece and were disgusted. So, we've been craving good Mexican for a LONG time. Monte Alban did not disappoint! First and foremost, forget about the food and drinks. Just LOOK around this place! It's like an art museum! The hand carved furniture, hand painted murals on the booths, chairs and tables, wall art, and metal sculptures are all a kaleidoscope of colorful wonder. Imagine what a few margaritas could do! We arrived just at opening time and had no wait. The service was fast and spot on. Quiet as can be expected. I can only imagine how lively this place can be in an evening or Cinco de Mayo. At first, I wanted to go for my staple order: one beef burrito, one beef taco and one cheese enchilada. With that, I could do a fair comparison against the Florida experience. Well, so much for that idea, La Changa jumped off the pages of the colorful, well designed, hard-plastic spiral-bound menus. Then our server sealed the deal by calling it a "must have, deep fried". OMG. Amazing! My wife thoroughly enjoyed her taco salad: "Very tasty and filling." On the way out we asked the server if the Irondequoit and Webster locations were as good and he said "No way! This is the best." Not sure if that's a "My House" kind of pride or if it's true. Only on way to find out...

I Love this place... Great food great service.. I love polo loco chicken l, frozen margarita, and guacamole dip with cheese dip. Yummy

As a group, you get two basket of chips and salsa for free. Any additional is $2 per basket after. For drinks we ordered a pink passion, la grandeza margarita, and a frozen house strawberry margarita. For our entree, we ordered enchiladas suizas, fajitas texanas, and a traditional burrito. Everything for the most part was delicious. The areas we thought were lacking were the burrito and beans. The burrito was a bit bland, could use a sauce on top. The refried beans were gross. They tasted like they had some unnecessary spice in there. For my gluten free folks, many of the dishes are made with corn tortillas, so there are options such as enchiladas, fajitas, tacos. However, not safe with those with celiac disease due to cross contamination. Included is some pics from a previous visit.

The interior is decorated with a nice Mexican flair, and there's plenty of seating with both booths and tables. The chips and salsa are so good! They also have a great selection of alcoholic drinks, although there aren't many non-alcoholic options. My friends always enjoy their drinks. One time we visited, they were even passing around samples of margarita ice cream they were testing, which was a fun touch. I always order the birria tacos--they come with rice and refried beans, and they're delicious. I also love that I can usually walk in and get a table right away.

Great Service, But a West Coast Palate Had Trouble Adjusting…read more My husband and I decided to try Rustic Taco Bar during Canal Days, hoping for a taste of our former home on the West Coast. First off, I want to give a huge shout-out to the staff. The service was truly great--super friendly and attentive, especially considering how busy it was during the festival. We really appreciated how welcoming they were. However, we found the food to be a bit of a culture shock for our palates. We understand there are regional differences, and for us, this was very different from the Mexican food we're used to. The tacos were served on flour tortillas that, since they weren't freshly made, could have really benefited from being heated or toasted on the grill to give them a better texture and taste. The biggest surprise for us was the filling. We've learned that "beef" on the East Coast often means ground beef, which was very odd for us in a taco, as we were expecting carne asada. It brought back memories of childhood taco nights rather than the street tacos we know and love. The salsa was just okay; for us, it was really missing that punch of salt and a fresh squeeze of lime juice that makes a salsa pop. Overall, the people were wonderful, but the food just didn't quite hit the mark for our West Coast tastes. If you're not used to SoCal-style Mexican food, you might enjoy this more than we did. For us, it was a reminder that we're a long way from San Diego!

The tacos here are unique with a garbage plate taco, steak frites taco among others. They don't skimp on the the size or fillings for the tacos which I guess warrants the higher price per taco. You shouldn't leave hungry which I love. Overall the food was good. I had the steak frites and whiskey barrel bbq taco. Both were very good and my wife had the rustic beer fry(fish) taco and mango marg taco. 2 downsides that pushed me from a 4 to a 3. We ordered the elote corn side dish. It came out as corn on the cob which is not practical for dining out given the amount of toppings. We managed to cut a bunch off and the flavor was great but a mess. The other was a takeout order that we were bringing home for our daughter. It was entirely incorrect and the items we got were about 1/2 the price of what we ordered. We didn't realize until we were home staring in the face of disappointment and refusal to eat what we delivered from our daughter. That said I would still go back, but lesson learned on the corn and takeout.

I love a good burrito. I couldn't get over the different temps in my burrito. The carnitas were warm and piping and the rice was refrigerator cold. It was an odd mix and even with traveling to Mexico, I haven't experienced two extreme differences in temp inside the burrito. We ordered chips and guacamole AND chips and salsa. Our order came out with 1 basket of chips and then when we asked about the chips for the guacamole, we were charged for the chips. It's odd. It literally says on the menu that chips come with both items. We were there with family so the intention was to split the appetizers. The house margarita was phenomenal and my son said his tacos were great. It's a miss this time for us. The location is gorgeous.
