We ordered oyster shots that were plentiful and delicious (a bit spicy but good). I had the ceviche, hubby had the chimichanga meal and both were large portions and delicious. Hubs said he loved the added bacon in the refryed beans. Our waiter was fantastic as so was the reasonable prices. If I had 1 cretic it would be a little too much lime juice in the oyster shots. I finished off the ceviche for lunch today -- Yum

It's a different kind of place. It's not a restaurant but not fast food either…read more The menu items are not prepared in advance for the most part. They have a drive thru and even if you call ahead you'll still have a bit of a wait. There's a nice selection of things and things you don't find often like tongue burritos. Menudo is available on the weekend. It's a cute spot but doesn't have the linger awhile atmosphere and that what makes this more of a fast casual. The food you get is plentiful, but doesn't have much flavor even after adding any of the available sauces. I don't know. Maybe I need to try a different time of day or different things on the menu but I haven't been overwhelmed so far.

We enjoyed their carne asada burrito without cilantro that was a large serving for $7. It was delicious. I would happily eat at their food truck again if given the opportunity. Since moving from San Diego, we haven't found a place that is our absolute go to for carne asada anything...we may have just found it with Fat Taco.

Sometimes you absolutely must get out of the house for something that's not from your kitchen. If…read morestaying at home, or aimless driving, standing in line six feet away from everyone at the store while waiting to get something to make at home, becomes just too aggravating, go back to a time when things weren't so upside down: Stand in line (social distancing, of course) at a food truck. Fat Taco Food Truck to the rescue. What you won't do, is walk away from this one having to stop elsewhere to get more food. The portion size is generous and the food is good. I don't think it's good just because it gets me out of the house, either. It's all in the balance. The nachos, both with the pork and beef are filling and overloaded with toppings. Although the pork was slightly dry, the seasonings were still detectable. The shrimp tacos, with several decent size shrimp in each taco, also were done well. The shrimp were slightly overcooked; however, with the extra sauce and filling, it wasn't noticeable. It's tough getting everything exactly right when you can't eat it right away and that might well be why the meat on the nachos and the shrimp missed the mark. But on the tacos: They are hard to eat because the insides keep falling out -- they're that stuffed. Don't eat them in the car. The quesadillas? Oh wow. I can go on about these for a while, but just know that they will always be my go-to from this truck. Nice people, tasty food, consistently done. I look forward to trying them again when getting the food and driving back to the social distancing abode isn't a mandate.

Guad's Grill & Co, part of the family-owned Guadalajara restaurants in Billings (and other cities…read morein MT), has opened a small, order-and-go, at least for now, place in the west end. In a location formerly occupied by a different restaurant, Guad's has created an inviting spot for getting your fix of standards: tacos and enchiladas. They're still in their soft opening phase and if the line out the door is any indication, will probably do quite well when the soft opening phase is over - well, that, and they ran out of food during the lunch rush the first couple of days and that might portend favorable things to come. There are the usual hiccups while the employees learn the new system and try to navigate the rush of orders. As for the food from the limited menu: it was good. The Quesabirria Taco, a featured specialty, had a nice flavor -- the sauce was tasty, although I'm not entirely sure it was brisket. The enchiladas were equally good and although the menu indicates they can be ordered with red or green salsa, I don't remember being asked and it came without either. Again, though, in this soft opening, the employees are still trying to work out the kinks, so perhaps that choice is a lesser one. It didn't detract from anything by not having it. There is a line to order and pay at the counter. Then, find a place to sit or stand while waiting for them to call your name. I guess calling a name is more personal than shouting out a number, but when the music is as loud as it was, and the person calling names has a soft voice, it wasn't always easy to hear. As Guad's gets through their opening phase, the process should smooth itself out. Because I haven't been to any of their restaurants, I don't know if the food is the same. The menu here is much smaller than in a regular restaurant owing to this as a grab-and-go place. They're located next door to a casino and nearby several other restaurants, so Guad's has rounded-out the food options in the neighborhood. For now, they don't have their own website, but that should change as they roll into a regular opening.

I'm in Billings for the next two weeks and I was hoping to find a solid option for good Mexican,…read moreespecially a place with good mariscos. So with that in mind I ordered delivery from Guadalajara for some Camarones a La Diabla, a dish I order regularly. I don't want to go into these things with assumptions or negative expectations but this is not the first time I've been in Montana and Billings specifically. I have found gems in places I wouldn't have expected, but Billings has so far not been one of those places. This was not bad, but it was not good either. The sauce is very clearly ketchup based and it was hard to get past the strong ketchup flavor. It is not unheard of to make Diabla sauce using ketchup. It also isn't the best way to make a Diabla sauce IMHO but it can work. This sauce did have good heat, nothing crazy but the heat was there. There was also some other good flavors including a roasted/char character that was nice. I just had a hard time getting past the sweetness and very distinct ketchup flavor. A little too much of a tangy sweet flavor for me. The shrimp were nice size, cooked decently (I try not to judge too much on shrimp when it is delivery, but this was better than average) and enough that I'm not going to complain about portion size. The other items for the dish, rice, refried beans, salad, pico, and guacamole were all pretty good. I had them hold the sour cream. I also ordered chips and salsa which was a let down. The chips were dry aged, er, I mean stale and the salsa was very very very bland.
