I ordered take out tacos and a Guadalajara taco and Chile Relleno . As I was waiting for my order I saw the cook in the back but my Chile Rellenó in a styrofoam container and put it in the microwave and then it was brought out to me in the same container which was semi melted. We had a group of 3 people but only got 2 waters. 2 forks and a spoon. 2 napkins We had to share the napkins and the 1 knife to cut our asada. Legit, if you can parse the menu. It seems to be about half catering to gringos, and half real family Mexican food. I had an awesome torta de carnitas, and a small bowl of menudo, also excellent. Out of 10 diners in the place, eight were Spanish-speaking Latinos, and the owner? who waited on me had about as good English as I have Mexican Spanish (I do OK, and she did better). As I was dropping my daughter off at school this morning, I noticed the vehicle ahead of me advertising Los Mayas on their back window so I made a mental note to "try that place sometime" ... then ended up in the area later so today was that sometime! I walked in, a woman got up from a table in the back where she had been watching TV ... I told her I wanted to place an order to go so she handed me a menu to look at then went back to her Telenovela. After deciding what I wanted, I stood there waiting for her to acknowledge me again ... nope, didn't happen so I had to speak up and I almost felt as if my presence was a disruption to her. I placed my order, she said the wait would be 10 minutes or so ... I then observed her use her bare hand to grab chips from under the warmer and place them into a bag as part of my order. Her. Bare. Hand. Bare hand! After touching her hair, wiping her forehead, handling the TV remote ... bare hands when handling food?? That ain't right ... As for the food itself ... I was very pleased. My chicken taco was in a fried shell, not processed ... was delish! My enchilada, beans & rice were good too. Props to the guy in the back doing the cooking (hopefully he wears gloves!?) Loved this little hole in the wall! I had the chicken flautas with lettuce sour cream guac... etc. it also cane with rice and beans. It was a great meal and the flautas were stuffed well with chicken. It was a great meal. The chips appeared homemade and were great! The salsa that was brought out was bland and disappointing. My buddy asked for some hotter salsa and it came a lot closer to a medium, but had a lot better flavor. A great salsa can make or break a place. I could eat there daily with a great salsa. read more

It's about time I find a good Mexican place in Montana. There are a lot of "Mexican" restaurants around that think they are doing it right but.....no. I ordered the tacos from the A La Carte portion of the menu. Finally actual tacos just like the ones we would get when in LA. I ordered one taco or each of the carne Asada, pastor, and carnitas. Pastor was my favorite. All were good. Asada was a little greasy but nothing to really complain about. Will be in again to have my husband try it to see what he thinks. Also have to see if they serve Chile Relleno and see how that is. I haven't been able to find a good place out here for that yet. But I have my hopes with this place. Service is not crazy special. The lady that runs it seems a little impersonal but she could be having a bad day so I don't judge. Good food and will be back! read more
