Looks like almost all new staff too, that could definitely use some Customer Service training. The menu has a 3rd name on it that seemed off as well. I was not told to come to the hostess stand to be seated, no friendly greeting when I did approach the stand. Once seated, the chip & salsa dude was quick enough in dripping them off w/out so much as a greeting. Maybe he's the silent type? Who knows? 2 Now the real wait begins.... Nothing to drink nor any sign of anyone even slowing down @ my table to take a drink order. Maybe they were fighting to see who would take my order? ‍ I was almost finished w/the basket of chips, decided what I wanted and LAID THE CLOSED MENU on the other side of the table close to the edge, hoping someone would notice. I had decided if they couldn't be bothered to come by the time I finished the chips I was leaving. Magically a waitress finally shows up w/3 chips to spare. Placed the order for water and dinner at the same time. Dinner came out quickly but looking pitiful w/barely a full tablespoon of guac, tomatoes or sour cream. Cheap bastards! The flour part of the chimichanga was NOT CRISP, & I was given plastic utensils to maneuver this sad plate. I have eaten here MANY times as I live in the area so I am more than disappointed w/this experience. Not a single customer sitting in the middle @ the 4-tops & @ least 7 booths empty; on a Saturday night @ 8:00 pm. Sad that they have lost so much business, I'll think twice before considering spending my money here again.

Torta Villa Carbon (4/5; marinated grilled chicken topped with grilled onions, grilled pineapple, melted cheese, jalapeños, and avocado): This was huge. I ended up saving half for lunch the next day. The combination of sweet and savory flavors worked really well together. 2. Campechano Burrito (4/5; steak strips and chorizo with rice, beans, lettuce, onion, tomato, and jalapeño): Steak and chorizo are always a winning combination, and this burrito did not disappoint. 3. Chirucas Chimichanga (4/5; two medium chimichangas stuffed with rice, beans, cheese dip, and your choice of meat, served with lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream): I chose the grilled marinated pork (al pastor), which was flavorful and satisfying. The server mentioned that the chicken version is their favorite. The service was decent overall, though it could be slow at times. I noticed a few tables waiting a while before servers came to take orders or refill drinks, and my drink was empty for a bit before getting a refill. The building alone should bring and sustain traffic if you don't suck. This place is gorgeous! Inside and out! They have an identity crisis going on with it though, you see. You can't have cheese dip, enchiladas, burritos, and table-side flaming surf and turf all on the same menu. WTH? Who thought this was a good idea? Anyway... I made a reservation through Yelp the day of. I got a confirmation, and then another text asking me to confirm again. I did, and it responded with a supporting confirmation. I replied with, "we just talked to you". He said "it's ok, I got you". Thanks for the favor homie. Seated and the Salsa Cart shows up. I knew we were in a first class place right then! Some kid painted very nicely. Salsa lady asked us about what we wanted in our salsa. She then made our "guac" and gave us the salsa. She had about 15 items on the cart to mix in, but oddly, she used none of it other than an avocado and some premade pico she threw on top. Salsa was good though. During the wait to order the ratchetness kept building. We almost left before we got our food. Some dude in the same room as us starts to watch his Insta Feed at full blast phone volume. C was beside herself. I believe he got the hint as we were loudly proclaiming that he was being rude and needed to be asked to leave. He stopped after that. Food is what expected. I came for overpriced Mexican and they delivered 100%! C took two bites and was done. No one even asked why the whole plate went in the trash. Mine was edible, but probably because of all of the edibles I had that day. She had some version of chicken Parmesan but with salsa. It came with frozen fries smothered in Pace looking picante sauce. She said it tasted "fake and like chemicals". She offered me some, no thanks. I had the Tres Especial. I should have read more of the description. I saw steak, chicken, and shrimp and just ran with it. It wasn't that bad but it's available across the street at El Mezcal for 1/3 of the price, better tasting, and on a hot flaming skillet. This was essentially cool fajitas drowned in congealed cheese dip. They didn't bring me my corn tortillas, so it got cooler as I waited on those. Then my server disappeared for 25 minutes. We could not escape fast enough. I guess we will find out how much longer they pump money into it before they close. Never again! Two stars because I got $25 off! '26 - 103

This visit, I ordered a Sidecar, but the bartender didn't have every ingredient needed for the traditional recipe. Instead of saying no, they created their own twist--and it was absolutely delicious. Sometimes improvisation pays off, and this cocktail was proof. The salmon was also excellent. I ordered it prepared the original way instead of the new menu version that includes Brussels sprouts, and it was exactly what I was craving. One of the highlights of the visit was an unexpected surprise from our waiter, who brought us a sample of their avocado ice cream. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was creamy, smooth, and surprisingly delicious. It was a thoughtful gesture that added to an already great dining experience. The only disappointment? I sat down with one thing on my mind: their tuna club. It used to be my absolute go-to. I opened up the menu, flipped through it twice, and my heart sank when I realized it was completely gone--looks like they updated the menu and cut it loose. When our server came by, I must have looked visibly defeated because he asked what was wrong. I told him I'd been craving that tuna club for years. He told me to hang tight, walked back to the kitchen, and somehow convinced the chef to whip one up for me anyway since they had the ingredients on hand. Talk about elite, next-level customer service. While they were working on that, we started with the table-side guacamole. It's still spectacular--super fresh, completely customizable, and served with those thick, hearty chips that actually don't break when you scoop. When the tuna club came out, it was exactly how I remembered it. Perfect sear, bursting with flavor, and paired with those roasted potatoes. My buddy got the burger and said it was cooked perfectly, though the cheese on his potatoes made them a little on the salty side. Huge shoutout to the kitchen staff and our killer server for going above and beyond for a returning guest. Babalu still has it. I won't wait years to come back next time.
