Tacos el Pato is a truck I've seen occasionally at the east end of the shopping center located at…read morethe corner of Macon and Wells Station, in which Maya's was located. If you're cruising the area but unsure what to look for, it has Donald Duck on the side of the trailer. Pretty distinctive. I'm not sure if that's an endorsement from DD. As far as I know, el Pato only offers tacos. They are served undressed, but all the works are present at the window: green and red sauce, cilantro, onions, lime, and radishes. Based on one visit, the tacos were adequate, but I don't think they measured up to some of the others I've had. I had chorizo, asada, and campechano tacos. I was intrigued since I had seen "campechano" twice in about 30 hours and had no idea what that was. The lady at Tacos el Paisa couldn't tell me what it was. Well, after being informed that el Pato had no pastor, I found out that it is asada and chorizo mixed. Having ordered the asada and chorizo separately, I shrugged, owned my ignorance, and enjoyed the tacos. Other offerings that may be unfamiliar: Cabeza - head Suadero - beef with a touch of lemon (on my to do list!) Tacos el Pato sells drinks (Jarritos and Coke products) and had a table set up with some chairs on the day I visited. There were a couple of young workers with good conversational English. Cash only. Tacos el Pato is a legitimate option for your taco fix.

It took a while before I found one, but there, parked just a little bit east of Waring, was Taqueria el Porvenir. The truck is hard to miss. It's painted like a giant Mexican Flag, it's got a bright green frog painted on it, and it looks like the owners attempted to rebrand the truck by using paint to white-out its old name. I was expecting the menu to be pretty basic (maybe just tacos and a burrito or something), and I was impressed to see that it had quite a few offerings, none of them more than $10. Taqueria el Provenir menu I ordered the quesadillas con carne from the nice guy behind the window, gave him $5.25, and five minutes later, had my food, all wrapped up in a to-go container. The menu didn't specify what meat the quesadilla came with, but mine was stuffed with shredded cheese and chunks of steak, accompanied by a healthy plop of sour cream for dipping. It was everything a taco truck quesadilla should be - smoky, cheesy, cheap and delicious. quesadilla from Taqueria el Provenir Next time, I'll definitely get an agua fresca to go with it. As far as I could tell, Taqueria el Porvenir only accepts cash. Stickers on the truck suggest that you like them on Facebook, but they must have been from the truck's past life, because I was unable to find them. Had I been able to, I would have attempted to like them repeatedly.
