Not just my favorite in Chicago, but my favorite from any city I've tried it in! I would come here just for the horchata and the refills they'd sometimes offer. This place is the definition of dive hole-in-the-wall. Perfect for those drunken late night good eats as it is open until 5am on Friday and Saturday. I ordered carry-out tacos and guacamole and chips. I was bringing dinner over to my friends apartment so I ordered a hefty number of tacos. 12 tacos total - mix of chicken, pork and steak. I got them on corn tortillas but you can order flour tortillas too. The tacos were LOADED with meat and topped with mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, onions and cilantro. They were very good tacos overall, and held up well during the commute. The guac had a very good flavor as well. This is a perfect place for quick eats and carry out. I would not recommend eating in store, not too much seating and there was an odd smell coming from the closet where they kept cleaning supplies. read more

3.5 stars Wanted a really quick bite near our massage place, and this was down the street. The interior decor looks kind of sketchy like you'd probably get sick from eating here. The tables with little squares that look like bathroom tiles don't help. But the food was pretty good! No doubt it would make pretty good drunk food, but even during actual meal times, it would be a really good place to eat. Best of all, its sooo cheap. Stopped at Taco & Burrito House for a mid-week lunch and it was very ok at best. Ordered a chicken burrito, and it came out within 5-10 min, with a red & green salsa. The tortilla was griddled to the point of being crispy & rigid, and neither of the salsas left a mark. Would recommend a number of other Mexican places in the nearby area, but this spot will get you a quick & inexpensive burrito in a pinch. read more

Today my ordered included extra food that i did not order. I repeated my order twice before hanging up but there was no disputing it. The guy said he took the order and knew what he heard. He worked so fast and my debit card was charged before i realized the extra charge. When i told him i would not order from there again, he merely shrugged his shoulders and said, "We'll see, they all say that. Our food is so good, you will be back." I've been ordering Uber eats from here for several months now mostly because it's cheap and decent, however the last three or four times I've ordered from here it seems like they just stopped giving a shit about food quality. The last time I ordered I got the chorizo and scrambled eggs which comes with rice and refried beans. They completely left out the eggs...like wtf. It was just a large splat of cold, flavorless, over cooked "chorizo" mush. My dog eats higher quality dog food compared to whatever the fuck that was. On top of that the refried beans were cold and had the consistency of water. Literal liquid. The rice was the only edible part of that horrific "meal", the rest went in the garbage shoot. My husband and I live a few blocks away and we LOVE TBH. It has become our go-to when we don't feel like making dinner. I always get the chicken tacos, which come with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream (I love that they automatically com with tomatoes/sour cream). The following is a true story: I was in the neighborhood picking up a friend for Halloween weekend when I happened to park in front of TBH. Turned out my friend lived in the apartment behind this place. It was around 6pm and I was starving. I knew I had to eat something before hittin' the town so I decide to eat here since I'm already here. Walking inside I could see a three-man team behind the counter waiting for me. The place seemed somewhat empty. I feared not. Usually my go-to choice for Mexican food is a steak burrito or a couple lengua tacos (yeah, I'm all about the tongue). Lo and behold, the menu listed BEEF TONGUE BURRITO as an option. Up until now I had never ordered a lengua burrito...but that's because I've never seen it as an option. I was so excited. I placed my order at the front counter and made sure to tell them to ADD CILANTRO (pro-tip: it's not normally included). Within two minutes they handed me a brown bag (I ordered to-go) and I ran back to my friend's place to eat it. I open the bag 'n took a couple bites...I was in BURRITO HEAVEN. Never before had I enjoyed a burrito this much...and I was sober. One of my favorite things about this burrito is that it doesn't come with rice. Who needs rice? More room for meat! Sour cream was standard...as if they knew. Everything in this burrito melded together perfectly. They threw in a tiny container of red salsa & green salsa. Both were good. My buddy and I cabbed it around town to attend a few Halloween parties.Three parties, eight hours, and a couple drinks later I came back to pick up my car...and was hungry. Can you guess what I was thinking? HELL YES...TWICE. Oh yes I did! (It was technically a different day, right?) This time there was a line going out the door! I didn't care. The burrito team behind the counter was taking care of business...crankin' them out. Before I knew it I was sitting down staring at another beef tongue burrito. This time I had squeeze bottles of hot sauce 'n salsa verde. I ordered an horchata to wash it down. My plate looked clean. No shame here. Fast. Tasty. Cheap. Great portions. Good Horchatas. The chicken taste fresh and it comes with cooked bell peppers, rice and beans. All the food is seasoned well, cooked well and tasty. The fajitas come with hot soft tortillas on the side. Fresh and as nongreasy as it gets--I actually did not feel gross or bloated after eating a burrito. And it was delicious. What a gem. They heat their tortillas over the grill so it's all warm and cripsy. Mmmm. The junior size was plenty, I can't imagine how big a king is! What's great about it is that most burrito places use rice as their filler but here at TBH, there's NO rice--just the good stuff. I recommend the pollo and steak. I've been coming to this Taco & Burrito house since 1996 and it is one of the best in the area. Not all "taco spots" are created equally. Come here and you'll understand what I mean. My favorites are the "Fajita Dinner" or the "Steak Nacho Supreme." They use real cheese, not fake cheese like TBK. Almost anything you buy is under $10 and I've never had a bad meal. If you are looking for quantity and plan on buying a taco dinner, just order the fajita dinner. You'll get a huge plate of steak, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, beans, rice and a separate container holding warm tortillas. You can make at least (6) tacos and get alot more food! (Can you tell I'm fat?!) lol. TIPS** This place is open very late and on Saturday nights you will have drunk yuppies and thugs. lol. Also, they do have a bathroom but you have to "know" about it. Just ask, you have to walk through the kitchen though. Seating in the entire restaurant is weird. When it's busy people are in your personal space, a cold draft will also find it's way in and parking is horrible. I suggest parking on Bosworth NOT Fullerton unless you are just running in. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT PARKING AT THE BUILDING ACROSS THE STREET. They will tow you immediately. read more

My favorite taco place in Chicago. The service is super fast, even on a busy weekend night/'way early morning. This place is popular with the after bar crowd, like me. I am a huge fan of their veggie burrito. For some reason, I am thrilled with the lettuce they use, I"m not kidding. These guys are burrito making machines. Even when its 2am and the place is jammed with drunks, they turn out those cheap burritos fast. This place makes the best cheese quesadillas. Seriously, I don't know why they are so damn tasty but they are. You can get one as a side when you order a meal. I love tortas, and their steak torta is a classic. It is also one of the cheapest items on the menu- you can get a torta meal with a drink and 2 sides for under 6 bucks. If I'm not feeling like a torta, I always get the chicken flautas. Soooo good.
