All-in-all it was worth the inconvenience. Very eclectic menu, warm atmosphere and outstanding service. I started withe the Mango-Tamarind: Lettuce, Indian walnut, mango, blueberries, Cotija cheese, mango-habanero dressing and tamarind billet. Unique and tasty. "Swiss Chicken Enchiladas" for the main course was not what you get at a local Mexican joint -- Four tortillas stuffed with chicken, bathed in a creamy tomatillo sauce with melted cheese and a base of refried black beans. This was a 5-star dish! I couldn't resist ordering a side dish though I didn't need to because the enchiladas were really enough, so I indulged myself with fries: these were not your run of the mill French fries. Porfirio's Potatoes -- French fries with chipotle pepper aioli, parmesan cheese and parsley. Finally, if you like ice cream I highly recommend that you order BOTH offerings: 1) "ICE CREAM TASTING" - Strawberry ice cream, chocolate ice cream from Metate, marzipan ice cream and vanilla from Papantla. Served with grated coconut, chocolate grain, M&M's, Oreo cookies and ice cream cones; and, 2) "PORFIRIO'S MOLECULAR ICE CREAM" - served with cajeta Worcestershire sauce in an ice cream cone. (I know it sounds disgusting right? Nope it worked. The chef is just showing off with this dish)

I took some notes and this is what I thought of the dishes. Xoajacan Imoladas - The mole is perfection. The flautas, superb. Everything in this plate is a symphony of what I would expect from Xoajaca. 9.5/10 Barbacoa Bonemarrow - Barcacoa is on point. The Marrow is Sublime. Together with the accompaniments is superb. I dream of Marrow everyday. This is a 10/10 Yellow fin Tosatadas - Superb!!! One of the best tostadas I have ever had. The microgreens, the sauce and the square Tostada works well all together. 8.8/10 Salmon - Cooked perfectly. The corn is a great accompaniment. The fish is impeccably seasoned. This dish is heaven sent with a 9.8/10 Grilled Octopus - Grilled perfectly, I can tell by the texture. The mash is superb, they used margarine instead of butter and I absolutely love the contrast from the traditional mash. 9.8/10 Mexican Rice - Its pretty good. It does have a nice seafoodish finish. The pepper was actually spicy. Nice and pleasant rice dish. 8/10 Charred Avocado Salad - Grilled avocado is a bit of a wash. It did make it look good on the plate. The dressing is a little weak. Needs a little more zip, some citrus or vinegar would give this salad some justice. Its a little uninspired 7/10 Service is impeccable and attentive and the atmosphere is lovely.

But, after debating and reading some reviews, we decided to call (at 7pm) and see if La Buena Barra had any open tables for 7:30. Since Cancún dinner culture generally ramps up after 8, we were in luck and headed to the restaurant. We were warmly greeted by the host team and escorted promptly to a great table outside, overlooking the lagoon and the last bits of sunset in the sky. The ambience of La Buena Barra is amazing, great lighting, ceiling fans to keep a light breeze going, and music that is loud enough to prevent you from hearing conversations at other tables, but still allowed us to talk just fine. Our servers Jonathan and Estefany were the sweetest and most attentive that we experienced during our trip! Excellent food recommendations, even advising against getting a second dessert (due to their size) instead of just letting us spend more money there. Absolutely worthy of 5 star service! Ok- the food: very good, probably some of the more distinct flavors we enjoyed in Cancun. Also a very unique selection of cocktails, delivered in all sorts of unique glasses. BUT truly the best thing we ate was the corn ice cream! It's molded ice cream that looks exactly like an ear of white corn with a ribbon of dulce de leche in the center- honestly the best ice cream I've ever eaten at a restaurant! Prices per person can easily exceed $1000 pesos here depending on what you get, but it's possible to enjoy the experience on a budget. We shared an appetizer (empanadas, highly recommend), shared a large entree (ribeye tacos, comes with 7), a cocktail, side of corn, and dessert- ended up being around $1200 plus tip.

It's a steakhouse so think of leather, wood, modern, sleek, dimly lit, out door action taking place, and docking available. It's fine dining at the beach and how sexy is Harry's? Very Sexy! Part of the Anderson group we learned that Cancuns best restaurants are part of a chain and glad we were able to try two of them, Harry's being one. Service - Top notch. You know it's fine dining with the service you're getting as soon as you walk in. Let's get into it! Complimentary Bread - Yes please, the best ever! Appetizer - Oyster Rockefeller- These oysters were the biggest I've had seen in life. I did like them but they were lukewarm, they also didn't have bacon which for me, I needed it. They were just too big not to have something extra. Good nonetheless. Burger - Of course I got a burger because I'm a kid at heart. I loved it and that bun omg! Fries were great. Short Rib Sandwich - Delicious he loved the Au jus that went with it. Dessert - Chocolate Cake - It was good but had a bitter chocolate flavor. We always get dessert and this was not our favorite. Complimentary Cotton Candy? And that is exactly why they are 5 stars. It's like a whole love story in here, they aren't perfect but they sure make up for it in ways that count! Harry's has a wonderful setting directly on the water. You can access by car or by boat. They presented menus and all steaks come in 3 versions: Kobe, Waygu or USDA. I have to say crazy prices and I am accustomed to Miami. A waiter brings an actual display of the steaks to the table. The tomahawk has to be 3 feet tall. I cannot imagine anyone eating it! We all ordered USDA filets in the mid $80 range. I ordered mine medium. It was overcooked. No pink/red in the middle and very dry. I was a bit disappointed. We were never rushed. At the end, they brought a piece of cake for the birthday celebrant and a huge cotton candy for the table to enjoy. We each had individual bills. I assume because I was English speaking, they converted mine from pesos to US$'s. I always pay in pesos. The tip has been added and my bill was $139. Not sure how it went from $88 to $139. I did not drink any alcohol - only water. It was fine for a one time visit.

There was ample shade provided by sturdy patio III umbrellas, private casitas, each seating 10 adults. ATMOSPHERE: Common areas are look tired in the day light. I'm sure that the flaws are masked by the pool lights once the sun sets. Our private party was at the far end of the club; a 10x14' pool flanked by patio furniture in one side and 5 private cabanas on the other. The cabanas were set up living room style with a sofa, coffee table and cabinets for personal belongings. The view from one of the casitas was oceanfront making a lovely backdrop for photos. The music was obnoxiously loud most of the time with pounding bass. Our crowd was celebrating the Grooms and they a great time. Ordered a Mango Daquiri which was very tasty and unique. It had tamarindo on the rim and at the bottom of the drink. Flavor was definitely there. Also ordered two Don Julio shots for 70 pesos/ea. Cost is definitely reasonable. We left, but did come back later to try the food. We ordered the beach please combo which came with fries, cheese sticks, wings, and nachos. The fries were good along with the cheese sticks. Bars usually fry food decently. Nachos were basic and just not good. The nachos were toosalty and the cheese was awful. The wings were unique, but not in a good way. We went with BBQ instead of buffalo. The BBQ wings were cooked well, but beyond sweet. It tasted like the mixed tamarindo or chile limon in the sauce to give it a Mexican Twist, but it was not enjoyable. Bad combo for wings. We were they pretty early and planned to try again later at night to see if more people actually hang out there. But never got around to it.
