This place is wild! It definitely worth a trip and it's a definitely your spot if you are celebrating something special. First of all we came and DJ was already playing some music so vibe was already going. We got a table with nice view in the middle of the restaurant. They even had a hanger for my purse! It was super hot in July even at 8 pm and fans didn't help much. I love their presentation of seafood and meat! They roll the carts with daily catch and you can even select and weight it. For the starter they gave us complementary mini tapas with gazpacho, pita bread and nice peppers. It was so delicious. I am a big fan of gazpacho. They best gazpacho I tried at the restaurant. It didn't had garlic and flavor was so smooth and refreshing. Our waiter Jonathan was amazing! He recommended us huge 1 LB Caribbean shrimp that they prepare with some special sauce. The shrimp was so meaty and almost tasted like a lobster. My guava margarita was absolutely cosmic!!!! Hubby took classic margarita was also very delicious. Then we selected turbot and whole Branzino portions were huge!We also took potatoes on the side. It was more than we could finish. Then all fun started when saxophonist came our and he was playing remix music and vibe was just so wild!!! The show was on and it definitely felt like a birthday party. They brought me complimentary birthday cake it was very very sweet and I could eat only few bites but attention was the everything. First they light a candle and then the whole staff come singing and congratulating around you!! They also do that for bottle service. This was definitely on a pricey side but it's worth it. This is the BEST experience & restaurant we have been too! Reservations are recommended but we were luckily to arrive and be seated. The restaurant is Gorgeous and the service is impeccable. Came to Taboo for bottle service and hookah only. If you are looking for an upbeat party vibe this is where to be. The whole place is completely instagrammable. Plenty of reservations available on open table. There was an array of live entertainment from the dj to a violinist and saxophonist. Service was good and waitstaff was friendly. You are entertained with great music and a ton of sparklers going off at every table. They have typical pricing on bottles but pay attention to what is being served to you from when you arrive to when you close the tab. There was an automatic 15% tip on the bill that can be adjusted if needed. Taboo is a restaurant chain with multiple sister sites. Rosa Negra is similar and just down the street. read more

What a wonderful ambience we had here with great memories made! My friend and I came here to get out of our boring hotel, and were so glad we did. We started off with a fun cocktail, it was a passion fruit one I forgot the name. It was alittle sour for my taste but the presentation was super great. We then got the tuna tartar which was good but nothing special. We also shared the king salmon appetizer. In my opinion it wasn't very flavorful, or cold enough, it just wasn't the same kind of sashimi I am used to and I wouldn't get it again. However for our meal we shared a Caribbean lobster with mushrooms and asparagus and that was DELICIOUS. It came with flames, and just so big and juicy. A great size to share. The mushrooms were big and tasty as well. We also got a hookah, we chose the pitaya one. And it was so good and the presentation was excellent. At the end of the night we were present for the violinist who played, and it was AMAZING. It is worth waiting to see the show, it was just great. One of the best I've seen live. If you are looking for a great dinner away from the hotel zone, Taboo is a perfect spot. The views, atmosphere, service, and food were all top notch. Eating at Taboo was an experience more than just a meal. We were there for over two hours with all of the different items you want to try. They do not try to rush people out and make a point to make sure everyone feels they can take their time and order as much as they want. Every table is given an appetizer of grilled pita bread, onion dip, olives, cheese filled red peppers, and guspacho. My wife and I also split an appetizer of the potatas bravas. The sauce used on them had the perfect amount of spice to it. Our final appetizer, which was our favorite, was the Nigerian shrimp. Everything to start off with was so fresh and flavorful. For my meal I had the salmon. Once it was done, they brought it table side and poured a bowl of flaming sauce of some sort onto it. Definitely a place to have a special dinner or birthday celebration. The food was fantastic. By far one of the best restaurants we went to (Harry's, Casita's, Puerto Madero). We ordered the seafood croquettes which came in an amazing display that we never seen before. 6 croquettes came in a serving so definitely a good appetizer to share. For entree we ordered the surf & turf and tiger shrimps. Both came as generous servings. The steak was so big that we had to take it home. So were the tiger shrimps; they were big. In short good not great for the price. It goes without saying this level ambiance cost money, I had the octopus which was about 35 dollars for a smallish portion. Great presentation overall solid 4/5 taste. I also had a taste of the rib eye, which unfortunately he had to send back because it was way too salty for him. The quality was pretty good, but for the price it was on the saltier side. Tasted the pasta which was decent. I will have to say the service was more focused on those spending big bucks on bottle service, which makes sense but for me spending 300 dollars on a bottle of champagne is a no go for me, even if a small party comes with it. so because of that, we felt a bit like the red headed step child if you will. It was a large group of us and the reservations were made a few months in advance. Upon entering, the lighting is dim and the aesthetic is very sexy. There is music and it is loud. I noticed it was mostly adults but I did see one child. Not sure what it's like earlier in the day but you definitely get a nightlife vibe so keep that in mind if you bring kids. The service was good and the food was pretty good--some mixed reviews from my group. I had the wood fired octopus tacos and they were delicious--smaller portion but great! I also had the Saint Tropez Breeze cocktail and it was very refreshing. Entertainment wise, there is music playing. There was a violinist who was awesome and put on a great show! My buddy and I managed to spend only about $400 here, but in full disclosure, we were here for nearly three hours, drank like fish and ate like it was our last meal. Since we tried so much of everything, I am confident saying this place is about as good as it gets. Here goes: - Gazpacho (compliments of the house) - Albondigas griegas (Greek meatballs) - Carabineros del Mediterraneo (giant Spanish shrimp) - Tuna tartare - Pulpo (octopus) - Pastel de zanahorias con yogurt griego (Carrot cake with Greek yogurt) You must try all of that. Skip none of it. They also sell cigars if you're feeling like a post-dinner digestif while enjoying the roaming saxaphonist who would have given Charlie Parker a run for his money. They also pour your shots for you. The servers were very attentive. The food was AMAZING! I ordered the salmon and it was brought out with a table side fire-show. Our hotel Coco Limited was just a walk away from Taboo, so I spent a lot of time here during my week stay in Tulum. Dinner was fabulous. The food was spectacular, music was bumping and they even had a violinist that came out and blew my mind. Serious Chills. Music is more on the chill EDM side. During the day they have a pool party atmosphere and same sort of thing with live music throughout the day which is super awesome. It was hard for us to get a table by our friends one day because we came late as the place fills up fast. Good to put in a reservation and if you want to sit together, make sure to specify. This could have been an amazing experience. We had reservations for a party of 10. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and seated almost immediately. We waited at least 25 minutes before being given small bottles of water and asked if we wanted to order cocktails. It was another 30 minutes before having our actual orders taken. With the exception of being seated, every aspect of service was extremely slow and subpar due including 30 minutes due the check. PROS The Aesthetics are Fab!!!! . Even the restroom is gorgeous. The firework show is truly one of a kind. The food looked good. The Table Set was yummy CONS Service was terribly slow and our waiter was not attentive. Food was MEH at best! I ordered the ravioli. I asked to speak with a manager and this guy was just as bad as the waiter. Ugh... getting to this review a month later shame on me. Let me just say the atmosphere was fuxkin amazing it gives Greece vibes to a T and my group enjoyed this a lot. We came here for a birthday celebration we were a group of 7; the menu isn't big but the dishes we chose everyone enjoyed there were no complaints. The drinks were good as well but for me it was really the complimentary appetizer and the violin performance that was nothing short of amazing. To be a 5 star restaurant the prices were very good for two lobster dishes out of the 7. The dock they have in the back had the most amazing view oh and the bathroom was another highlight I never knew a bathroom could be so pretty lol. We originally booked a reservation for Taboo and the restaurant was booked for a private event with no knowledge to us. The manager from Taboo sent us via taxi to this restaurant as it was a sister company. We were greeted by management by shots and promise for a good time. The food was okay but not as good as expected. The music was repetitive. Then once we received the check we were charged for the "inconvenience shots". We were told that we would have a ride back to our hotel, just to be denied that service. Before walking 15 minutes back to my resort the manager decided to take us back in his own personal vehicle. The customer service was poor. The communication with bookings and just in between restaurants is poor. Then to be talked to in a degrading manner, when all you're trying to do is follow up on the promises that were told to you, is very disrespectful. Spent $400 USD to be treated poorly. I would give my experience here a 7/10, only because our waiter's service was not up to par! It was a group of 5 of us. He took our drink order and only 1/4 who ordered a drink actually got theirs. When ordering our food everyone initially had their order taken besides one person (the birthday girl) because the first dish she wanted they had ran out of and the second dish the waiter advised her that it was not good, so she asked for more time to think yet he never came back to follow up on what she wanted! After waiting for a long while (I lost track of time) 3 dishes are brought out (mine not being one of them)! When we confronted the waiter he said that we never put any drink orders in and never gave a clear/concise reason on the status of my dish and the birthday girl and this so when I was aware that he never came back to take her order. The manager came back and was of little help and tried to say it was because we switched tables, when it was the staffs decision to have us switch tables and not a request of ours. After I talked with him on the side her offered to take shots with us which we all agreed to take since her was nice enough to offer! Other than the hiccup with the food, this is a beautiful decorated restaurant, even the bathrooms were amazing! The vibes are immaculate and the music is perfect! Based on reviews and proximity, tried taboo cancun. LOTS OF FUN! (If you're under the age of 25). Really lots of fun, but LOUD, mediocre food and very dark. Don't bring young children or anyone with hearing issues. The ceviche was really low on my list (and I sample everywhere). Expensive for what you get. Loved watching the Spring Breakers in their outfits, smoking hookahs. If you want good food and an atmosphere where romantic does not mean dark, go somewhere else. There are so many holes in the wall that have better food and a more intimate atmosphere. read more
