Went here while walking towards Bryant Park with a friend. Already had some food in the morning so we weren't hungry enough for a classic sit down restaurant, and we figured that this would be a good quicker option. It was an interesting place! They were kind of a convenience store. You could get sodas, candies, granola bars, pre-made food, etc. What was interesting about it though is that you could also order at the counter from a menu. They had classic American breakfast and lunch foods, build your own sandwiches/wraps, fajitas, as well as some Japanese and Korean foods. They also had a buffet-style section where I believe it's $11.99 by the pound of food. Seemed like they had a lot of variety! I ended up getting a basic tuna sandwich. Not exciting, I know, but it was super yummy and quick. The employee was very nice and patient as well. I don't fully remember what my friend got-- something like a chicken teriyaki wrap I believe? She thought it was just alright, but still liked the atmosphere a lot. If you go upstairs there's a cute little dining area where we ended up eating. Busy inside, with a dining area in the loft just one flight of stairs up. I ordered a beef ramen, which comes with vegetables, and it was definitely a noodle soup but it may be a disservice to the Japanese people to call this a ramen. It was fine but I was definitely in the mood for actual ramen, so receiving a spicy noodle soup with broccoli and zucchini amongst other western veggies was a shock. I passed by tabletime in order to get to Bryant park from where I work which is next to Grand Central Terminal. It's smaller than the other market places, but it does its job. They have a buffet, salad bar, sandwich station, asian station, and etc.. it gets fairly busy here around lunch time. It's in a prime spot. I decided to try it out and got stir fry noodles. I got Pad Thai noodles with chicken mixed with Pad Thai sauce. Overall, it was alright but it didn't taste like what I would get at a Thai place. Maybe I should've tried their burger or something else on the menu. You can either dine in or take your food to go. I'm most likely not going back as this place is a dime a dozen. read more

I realized if I purchased the buffet I needed a place to sit to eat. I was told there's seating up the stairs above the buffet. I was definitely a happy camper. The buffet is $11.99 a pound. I can't believe how much food I got for only $6.50. I love the fact that they have breakfast items. There were so many choices I took a little of everything. Who else eats fish and pancakes! The food at tabletime is amazing. The problem I ran into was the staff that worked there. There is a casher who is a short spanish women with short hair. She usually works at the first register. She has a major attitude problem. On one occation I had just purchased food and was not able to see the code for the bathroom. When I asked her what the code was, she responded with nasty attude asking me if I looked at my recipt. She then told me she could not help me because the code was on the recipt. Discovered this place on Yelp after looking for a spot to get a salad by my new office. It is set up like most grab&go lunch spots in the area. They have a hot buffet, chopped salad area, a variety of soups and a variety of packaged snacks and beverages. Everything was very clean and looked well prepared and fresh. Sometimes hot buffets can look questionable and bordering a Health Department violation but that's not the case here. Chopped salad is a great deal, for $9 you can get a large salad with protein and unlimited toppings. Tabletime occupies the same space as a previous deli/steam table but I never went into the previous establishment. To me it always looked like one of a hundred different steam table/delis that are littered all over midtown Manhattan. I generally find the food in them "okay" and overpriced. However, when I passed by Tabletime and peeked inside (after seeing them renovate for weeks) I decided to take a look around. To my surprise, Tabletime looks like a modern eatery on the level of a Treehaus. Sure there's still a steam table and deli section involved, but their presentation is strong. Lots of wood, a bold "Tabletime" logo made up of retro looking light bulbs, a second floor seating area and an impressive array of drinks and "grab to go" options really made me take another look at this place. I have gone several times in the past week to get breakfast sandwiches. Most of the time I get some type of vegetable with egg whites on whole wheat bread. Sometimes I add turkey sausage or bacon. Each time my sandwich was prepared quickly and came out very well. The sandwich generally ranges in price from the $5-6+ range depending on how many veggies you add, but overall it's worth it for a fresh made sandwich. A quick note: the staff is very on point. Each time I've gone there are people milling about, keeping things clean, organizing shelves and making sure no one is waiting too long to check out. When a tourist couple was a bit confused, someone came out from behind the counter and talked them through all their options so customer service is clearly on their minds. If you need a quick bite and you want to have it in a comfortable, clean atmosphere, this isn't a bad place to check out.
