Yes it says not great for kids but all three of mine (ages 7, 10 and 12) ordered from the adult menu just fine. Mind you we are foodies. Shrimp and grits - sooooo good!!! Charleston has the best but next best is definitely Ludington!! Kudos to the chef. Buttermilk fried chicken and peasant were also a few dishes we ordered and were great! Collard greens were perfect!! Their cocktails are delicious. Hand crafted and done perfectly. Good wine list - I enjoyed the red blend and it was divine. Beth was our server and she did great. Was very accommodating with the kids and friendly. Ambiance was nice; a place I would come back to with another couple, a date night, or with the family. We will be back this summer for sure!! Love the Low Country, and this new Ludington restaurant takes it to the next level! The menu is small enough to be sure that everything is impeccably executed. My husband and I went here for lunch for our 10th anniversary. We had the braised pork belly with grits and gravy. It was SO delicious and homemade. I had the liberty toast (bacon, ham, brie on toast) and my husband had a shrimp salad with watermelon. The sweet tea is fresh and tasty. Everything was on point. Excellent service and food! Their menu is not ridiculously large which means they focus on the extravagant foods they have and they do an excellent job . We had the Wellington salmon and it was fantastic! Our friend with us had the fried chicken and loved it. Their service was excellent as well. We will be back for sure! read more

Honestly mine and my girlfriend's favorite restaurant in town. Some of their key dishes include: Mussels Rainbow trout Scallops Risotto And their creme brûlée Even though the prices are pretty outrageous at times. The staff is always so nice and always check in on how everything is going The owners really share a part of their culture of southern cooking everyday Each and every dish that the chef/owner sends out of the kitchen you can tell he puts his soul into each and every plate. One of the best meals I've had in a really long time!! Started with the crabby chips and then had the surf and turf special (the best lobster and filet ever) even the sides are good, not just throw away items added to the plate. We were recently in town and chose Table 14 from the comments both on Yelp and from the owner of the B&B we stayed in. Our waiter Thomas was very friendly and helpful when choosing a bottle of wine and our meals. We had the special appetizer (brie with an apple chutney) and it was as good as recommended. Our entrees didn't disappoint either - I had the scallops and husband had the whiskey marinated sirloin. Everything was top notch. We didn't make a reservation on a Saturday and got the last table (right by the kitchen but we didn't mind) so I'd recommend making one on a weekend. The praline chicken is AMAZING! The best chicken I've ever had in a restaurant. Just the perfect combination of salty and sweet. It came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. They were equally good. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. So good it was picture worthy. My husband had the New York Strip and was also happy with it. Great atmosphere. The service was friendly and quick. I ordered the "Good Old Boy" sandwich, advertised as pulled smoked pork with bacon and Cole slaw. While some elements were present, the pork portion was meager, not smoky, and cubed not pulled. The bacon's saltiness overwhelmed everything, and there was a lot of ham, an ingredient not mentioned in the menu description. My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner. Everything was amazing, from the exceptional staff to the delicious food. We shared the crab cake, which was full of fresh lump crab. I had the whitefish over risotto which was spectacular and my husband had the beef tenderloin pot pie. He is still talking about that. Had a wonderful meal at Table 14! I highly recommend the crab cake, she crab soup and the beet salad. My entire party was very pleased with their food as well. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the server. Though friendly, she did not know the menu (the food or the wine) and was unable to answer questions pertaining to the food and to allergies and diet restrictions. Instead of saying that she did not know and would check with the chef, she simply said I don't know, I'm sure it doesn't have...fill-in-the blank allergic ingredient, meat, gluten... Very frustrating, especially at a fine dining establishment. Despite the ill-trained server, I found the food to be excellent and therefore, I recommend Table 14. read more

The food was amazing. Only 4 stars for a couple of reasons. My scallops were still a bit sandy/gritty. The flavor was wonderful, the sand was not. Also, the chef does not allow substitutions to the meal. One person in the party did not want collard greens with her fried chicken. She doesn't like them. The no substitutions rule is a bit over the top. Just give her another veggie option. We did all enjoy our meal, though. And they even offered to make chicken fingers for my daughter, which we didn't see on the menu. read more

Great little place. I didn't like what I ordered to drink but that was my fault for trying something new haha I got the white fish and it was cooked perfectly but bland. Our waiter Thomas made sure that our experience was an excellent one. We enjoyed our lunch. My husband had the Good ol boy, a new sandwich on their menu. It had delicious pulled pork, thick bacon and ham with slaw. It is aunt soupy with sauces which was wonderful! My husband and I recently had dinner at Table 14 and enjoyed the experience overall but found it to be overpriced given the portion sizes and quality of the food. The Brie and chutney appetizer was delicious. I had the crab cake appetizer and a house salad for my main meal, as I wasn't that hungry. Both were good. My husband had the salmon and saffron risotto special. The lobster sauce on the salmon was tasty but the salmon itself was overcooked and dry. The saffron risotto was good if a bit bland. Our waitress was great. Glad we checked it out but the meal seemed more like a $60-$70 meal rather than the $90 we paid. read more

Walked in without a reservation on Saturday night. Love the atmosphere and the blues music playing in the background. The Mint Julep was excellent--on par with those that I have had down south. Salmon Oscar with risotto was cooked perfectly...seasoned just right. Pecan pie with maple bourbon sauce tasted like a New Orleans praline--perfect complement to the dinner. Went here while on vacation to celebrate my birthday. The hostess told us at 5:00 she could accommodate us at 7:00 the same evening. We arrived promptly at seven and were told there would be a 20 minute wait. No problem, as we were on vacation and not rushed. We went to the bar for a drink. We sat, and sat, and sat. Odd that thee were tables open, some with reserved signs. About 45 minutes later we we escorted to a small two top table - um, why?? We asked for another table next to us with more room. The hostess looked at us and said - we'll I thought you wanted "this" table - huh? No we wanted "a" table. Okay nap we get settled and hubby orders the whiskey strip steak. He was happy with it overall. I ordered the salmon which was a bit bland and dry. Thinking it was the end of the night - our food came around 8:20 and they close at 9:00. We have eaten at many upscale restaurants and thought the food was average at best for the price. The wait was ridiculous for a weeknight with the light crowd dining with us. read more

My husband order the whisky soaked NY strip at medium rare. When it arrived it looked great but after cutting into it he was disappointed to see that is well done. He ask our waiter to please bring him a new one mediium rare. The waiter was very kind and accommodating. A few minutes later the waiter returns with the same steak and says the chef says this is a perfect medium rare...what? My husband was very insulted. He ended up requesting the check without his entree and going hungry. What kind of pompous full of himself chef sends back the entree. I have only every seen that done on kitchen nightmares. Have been staying in town for a month and have been to this place two times. Everything is great about it: the drinks, food, staff, except the manager and/or owner. She is terrible. My husband and I went to have drinks tonight and despite it being 830pm (close at 9) with a seat open at the bar, we were turned away rudely. Stating the open seat is where they place drinks to go out to tables. They were not accommodating to us who simply want to sit at the bar and have a drink. Consider staying open past 9 pm. read more

I would say this is definitely the best kept secret in Ludington. Chef Howard put together a amazing menu. Food is fresh and authentic. Amazing flavorful food with a Creole twist. This is a must try when in ludington you will be back again and again. And try my favorite the Divine Swine its simply melt in your mouth delicious. This restaurant tries to give you the impression that it's high class. The bread for the appetizer which was apple chutney was so hard that I couldn't eat it I could have broken my tooth. The green beans were not cooked and raw and some were burnt. Grilled wrong. The salmon was good but small. Overall we had one beer and 2 meals also the appetizer and our bill was 82.00 before tip. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Ludington. We ate there last night. Started with the cream of asparagus soup which was fantastic! I had the whitefish for dinner. The parmesan risotto and asparagus sides were excellent, the fish was too except one end that was fishy tasting. Very disappointing NYE dinner experience. After reading all the great reviews and hearing good things about the restaurant from our hotel and other locals we decided to make this our nye dinner. They had a 4 course, $70 per person menu. Unfortunately I ended up walking out still very hungry, feeling like I only had a snack and poor service. For the first course I choose oyster Rockefeller which consisted of 3 tiny oysters, the salad was a small side salad, which would be alright if the main course was a decent size dish. I ordered shimp and scallops, it was 3 shimps and two very small scallops, extremely over salted served with rice. I do not consume rice and was very disappointed that the fact that it came with it was not disclosed on the menu. So of course, I couldnt finish my dish i took few bites and set it aside. Our server never checked in to ask how our meal was, just came by and asked if I was done with my dish so she simply took it away. The dessert was an even bigger failure, my creme brulee was more like custard with lots of brown sugar. We ordered it in the beginning so the chef had plenty of time to torch it and cool it, unfortunately it was not cooled properly and it did not crack because it was not torched, the sugar was still very raw and tasted like rubber. Again no one bothered to come up and ask how it was, I had a lady come up and tell me that I got the last creme brulee and that " you better finish it". Maybe I would, if I actually got a creme brulee. Dont get me wrong, I understand thats its a very small town and that I shouldnt have high expectations, but Ive been to some of the local pubs and they executed their menu a lot better. At the end of the day if youre charging $70 a person, there are certain expectations that need to be met and you should be able to deliver a somewhat decent meal, and it doesnt help that the staff doesn't care either, not once asked about how anything was which is why I didnt get a chance to perhaps replace the rice or get a different dessert, we felt unwelcomed, rushed and very uncomfortable. read more

Went for lunch very early afternoon. I had high expectations yes, but I was also starved. When I'm hungry, I tend to be a little more forgiving. We started with crab chips, very nicely done chips with cream sauce and sparse bits of crab and green onion. Very salty, not very enjoyable. My wife had the mushroom soup which was rich, earthy and the best thing we ate. Her crab sandwich was also very good, but not exceptional. I had the "Good Ol Boy". Not very "good" at all. The "smoked" pork was bland and tasted like it had been prepared in a crock pot several days prior. The bacon on the sandwich was overdone and also tasted like it was reheated from the previous day. The sandwich also had ham and slaw. The whole thing swam in mayo. All in all, if I hadn't been so hungry, I would have left it on the plate. More potato chips that we're expertly cut and overseasoned, and fires that looked great but were pretty lackluster. So it was a pretty lame lunch for $50+ dollars. Service was slow for us being the only ones there, but our server was very nice. I don't complain because I don't believe it helps the situation. The place seems to be highly recommended, i can't foresee giving it another chance though. read more
