I normally don't like tourist restaurants.
But this is a tourist restaurant that is actually solid.
The waitresses are multilingual.
The staff patiently works with people struggling with their Spanish to get them what they need.
I had a standard "full breakfast".
In Seville, that often means
Option 1: A Sevillian pastry and stuff to go with it.
In Non-Sevillian Spain, it is generally Option 2: eggs, a some kind of sandwich, orange juice and coffee.
El Papelon might have Sevillian pastries. But their standard full breakfast is the second generic Spanish version.
It was just fine.
The orange juice and coffee were outstanding. The ham sandwich was better than what I get at home. Fried eggs are fried eggs - always reliable.
My wife being vegetarian got the "Antioxidant Special". This is lots of healthy vegetables on Spanish bread with orange juice and coffee.
The vegetables and bread part are served in generous amounts.
She waddled out of the restaurant well fed.
The only odd note was that if you ask for water without gas, they get you a glass of water like they do in an American restaurant. In most places, you get a bottle of water. I suspect we may have gotten tap water. However, frankly, tap water is often what you are getting when you buy bottled water anyway. The water was not marvelous but was okay.
Incidentally, I have seem some of the negative reviews written by other Yelpers.
I don't believe them.
We had very cheap reasonable prices. We had staff that was falling over itself to help us out. We got good food.
Overall, this is not the one meal I would have if I wanted a legendary lunch in Seville.
But for plain ordinary Spanish food, it is fine. read more
