Taberna Criativa is a small restaurant located on the pedestrian section of Heliodoro Salgado Ave. in Sintra, somewhat close to the train station. The restaurant is cozy, decorated with wine boxes and bottles.
I made dinner reservations for 7:00 PM, the restaurant opening time. I started with a soup, Creme Legumes (Vegetable Soup), which was light and unfortunately lacked flavour. My appetizer, Canelone de Choco (Choco Cannelloni), consisted of two cooked shrimps, a small roll that looked like a sushi roll, all covered in foam; the plate on which the appetizer was served was cute - the border looked like sea foam - and fitted the marine theme; unfortunately, the flavor was again missing, and the texture of the "sushi roll" was soft and weird. For my main course, I had Naco de Vitela (Loin of Veal), which was gorgeously presented; unfortunately, the food was mostly cold; probably it got cold sitting in the kitchen waiting for my spouse's dish getting ready.
Service was apathetic and extremely slow. It took an hour and forty five minutes to receive our main courses. I was so disappointed with the food and the service that I decided to skip dessert. Based on the poor experience, I would not recommend this restaurant. read more
