RIPP OFF! BEWARE DO NOT EAT AT THIS PLACE! Do yourself a favor and go across the street. My wife and I ordered the lobster for two and it would not even satisfy one. I think we might have gotten 1/2 ounce of meat and a crap load of rice for 26 Euros per person. If you want a good tail do your self a favor and let your wife give it to you! LOL! read more

This review is going to take me no time. Wish I went to the restaurant across... I started my experience by asking to seat on the 'terraza', female on my own, was told no even though there were 2 tables opened... Sat inside in a table by the door. It was fine, but for the time I was there the tables outside were not taken. I wondered why I was denied a table. I then ordered a paella and was told that it's only for 2! A few minutes later a different waiter came to tell me the same. I don't understand the rationale behind this and was shocked by their lack of problem solving and customer service. Service was rushed all the way as if they had a long line of customers waiting outside - not at ALL! Valencia has way more to offer. Don't waste your money and time here. read more

Everyone has their traditions. Every year, this means that we descend upon Taberna Alkazar our first night in Valencia. We have been doing this for three years now; over the three years, I have seen the gradual decline in quality of the once-stellar food and a steady increase in prices. The owners of La Riua were on vacation, so the restaurant was much more crowded this past summer than in recent memory. This, however, did not impact the level of service which we received, which remained very warm, inviting, and friendly. For an amuse, we were given gazpacho, which was much too heavily spiced. The pan con tomate appetizer was fine, but our razor clams were absurdly expensive. We were not asked how many pieces we wanted because my waiter scuffled off even after my polite "Perdon, perdon!" to get his attention. Eight razor clams were brought out, totaling almost 60 euro. (They weren't even this expensive in Galicia and the quality is much better there!) The ensalada mixta was standard, nothing outstanding, but was more expensive than other restaurants in Valencia. The paella was a huge disappointment - not only because Taberna Alkazar prides itself on its paella, but all of us had such strong memories that this was our paella of choice in Valencia. The paella was not cooked for as long as it should have been, as evidenced by some remaining liquid. Also, the pan was not moved around the burner frequently enough as the paella was very cooked in the middle, but not around the edges of the pan. Due to this cooking error, there was not a whole lot in the way of soccarat. Because of the higher-than-average prices (mostly attributed to the paella, the razor clams, and the bottle of wine we ordered), our cheque was much more than we anticipated. The quality of the food did not warrant such high prices. As another summer and another trip to Valencia draws near, I must ask myself whether I break with tradition or continue to support a restaurant that has been a memorable part of our previous visits. read more

If you look at my reviews you know I don't like to do this. But please do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for your seafood. My husband and I ordered lobster paella and kid you not it maybe at best had a teeny tiny cute little itty bitty bite at best (no exaggeration) I actually wish I had take a picture of it. The house wine was just "ok"...just very disappointed!! My husband works hard and to waste money on a dinner that could very easily be a nice one breaks my heart =( read more

We came here for a drink and ended up having some of the best tapas that we've had in Valencia. We sat at the bar and were happy with the service and recommendation. We had some sangria, vino tinto, jamón, tomato toast, and their selection of sausages. We were pleased with the experience and will be returning. I did learn much about Spanish culture and for some reason some establishments treat tourists shitty, but not all. I laugh because without the local tourism everyone is basically fuc*ed. I do recommend this establishment. Thank your for the positive experience. I was losing hope on humanity after meeting a few of the locals, but they're not all that bad. Expats are awesome just some of the locals have not been so pleasant. read more

I never write bad reviews, but this restaurant was terrible. My girlfriend and I along with a group of friends (including the owner of one of the top restaurants in Europe) accidentally went to the Taberna Alkazar instead of the restaurant across the street, which had be recommend to us. Not only did they not know who my friend is (a famous chef in Europe), but they thought we were ignorant tourists and proceeded rip us off. Again, I never write bad reviews as restaurants can have off nights, but this was across the board, one of the worst restaurants I have experienced.... Firstly, they brought out appetizers which we didn't order as soon as we were sat. When received the bill, not only did they charge us for them, they WAY overcharged us for them by even Paris or New York standards. Secondly, we order a couple of relatively nice bottles of red wine (over 100 euro each) and they brought them out cold. It was at this point that we began to realize that this restaurant was owned by someone who couldn't be trusted running a McDonald's franchise. Lastly, we all ordered serveral lobster paellas and it turned out to be the worst paella I have ever seen (the color was wrong) and tasted (not only did it barely have lobster, but the lobster it did have was of poor quality and was cooked horriblely. Furthermore, they even screwed up the rice!!!). All 3 paella dishes were equally as destroyed. In fact, if you feel like a laugh, I actually recommend that you gtive this restaurant a quick in-and-out visit to simply look at how bad the paellas look. Just walk in, glance at the paellas of the people eating there, and try not to laugh on your way out. read more

I ordered shellfish paella, which is 19€, and I only see two tiny shrimps and one tiny tiny squid. It was salty as well . Such waste of money. Also, when I order water, the waitress brought one huge bottle that is suitable for 4 people, instead of a small bottle water. I don't speak Spanish and not sure if that's how they ripoff tourists' money. Overall the waitress service is terrible. read more
