Eating at the beach in Valencia is a bit of a mess without reservations, even during off season. Despite the relative calmness in many central restaurants for lunch in February, attempting to get a bite beachside is quite a challenge. After being turned away by multiple restaurants, Luz de Luna kindly accepted us.
The restaurant looks about the same as the rest of the beachside spots here. Very casual, with slightly distressed exterior design that certainly does not add anything positive to the general image of Valencia's brown sanded beach. But, when food rather than theater is the primary objective, it is actually the spot to be. Service was efficient and pleasant. There are quite a few gems on the menu aside from paellas. Cuttlefish bladders was an interesting dish to be shared. Calamari is excellent. Paella is very good, although for my personal preference the rice was a bit undercooked, it is only a matter of preference.
All around, while I probably would not go out of my way for another meal at this establishment, it is an excellent choice in the area. read more
