    Seafood paella
    Elina L.

Food is top tier. I came with my family of 4- we got the seafood paella and the chicken and duck paella. Highly recommend the duck paella, so delicious with perfect arroz!! Make a reservation online otherwise it may be hard to get a spot! This place is really popular it seems, with locals and tourists alike. The restaurant itself is quaint: lovely plates decorating the walls. I found the white fluorescent lights kind of harsh, but that does not affect the deliciousness of the food haha. The only thing that made my experience stressful is lack of preparation for knowing what to order and the people seated next to us. They were very gossipy (mind you, I'm Chinese and they were American, but I understood every word) and had a lot to say about us taking photos as tourists. It didn't feel good to be judged during our meal. That of course is special circumstance. In general, I would recommend to go in knowing what you want to order, know that paella can only be ordered for 2+ people (so double the price on the menu), and make a reservation!

Came on a last minute trip to València and didn't have time to make reservations (which general tip, if you're coming to València and want to go to any of the hot spots it seems like you NEED a reservation so lesson learned for next time). This spot was on like every guide to good paella in Valencia and we decided to try to get in. Luckily, we showed up at the perfect time and they were able to seat us in about 15 minutes. I was really excited because there were a ton of positive reviews and again the spot was listed on like every guy I had seen on the Internet. overall though we were quite underwhelmed I don't know if we just came on and off my but our was pretty flavorless. We got the traditional Valencian paella, and the meat was honestly pretty dry, everything was under salted and it was nothing to write home about. Additionally the service was very odd. Considering they probably get a lot of tourists here I was very surprised with how awkward they were with ordering as well. Prices aren't awful but again, it was just a bit disappointing considering this was a top ranked spot on every list! I will say that the interior of the restaurant is very cute, and we got the clams that were in this delicious sauce but it was a pretty small serving and was my favorite part of our meal.

We had heard this was a popular place to go for authentic paella valenciana....and it did not disappoint. We had appetizers of shrimp pancakes & croquetas while we waited the 30 minutes for our paella to be prepared. The red wine recommendation was delicious. Be sure to make a reservation because this place filled up quickly.

    Albondigas de Bacalao

La Riua was recommended by our Valencia Tour Guide and it was amazing. We had Albondigas de Bacalao as appetizer and Rabbit and Dorada orneado and grill veggies and it was amazing.

Don't let the poor Yelp reviews fool you. This place is awesome! Looks, tastes, feels and operates like a family home. We ordered olives, the grilled squid and the chicken and duck paella. Everything was unbelievable. The squid was tender and perfectly cooked and the paella was the best I've had in my life. Would highly recommend.

If I were to give a rating on the food alone I would have given it a 5 Star, but considering how rude one of the servers was I had to take it down a notch or two. We had the prawns and squid appetizers and they were delicious. We had the Paella Valencia and that was great as well. Now to the rude waiter, we had a question for the waiter and he felt that we asked/spoke too quickly. For the remainder of the night when he spoke to us he made it a point to mock us by speaking as fast as he possibly could. To the owners of the restaurant I hope you read this review and because your food is way too good to be served by someone so rude. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth which is sad because the dinner was otherwise enjoyable.

3 servings is more than enough for 3 people!

Paella! Our group of four was so excited to try paella here in Valencia because (1) none of us had…read moreeaten it before, and (2) what better place to try it than at in Valencia, its birthplace? I'm glad to have gotten it out of the way because I don't see myself eating it again for a very long time. It's not that the food was bad, but it's a lot. We shared the seafood paella and the traditional paella. I mostly had the seafood paella but I did try a few bites of the traditional one with rabbit and escargot. The seafood was fresh, and there was a healthy amount of prawns and squid. If you're not really into seafood or can't stand too much of the aroma or essence of seafood, do NOT get it because it is strong. After a while I got sick of the seafood flavor, which isn't a knock on the food, but a lesson that paella simply needs to be complemented with other foods. The traditional paella was quite good as well, and neither had rice that was too burnt (which I liked). I also didn't think the escargot and rabbit were particularly special. Again, portions were tremendous and I think we all left very, very full. Keep in mind that you need at least two people ordering paella in order to get it. It runs at about 18€ per person for any paella, which isn't on the low end, but you do get filled up since it's all rice.

They are served family style which I do particularly enjoy. It is a little expensive but the food is good and it is in a convenient location. There wine selection is also pretty good in my opinion, I do know they have some local options.
