We stopped in for lunch to celebrate a friend's retirement. We walked into the lobby and there was a guy wearing a tee shirt and jeans. We thought he was waiting on a table but he was our hostess. He was very nice but I would except a professional dress code . The food is always great here. The focaccia bread it's so good and complementary. Three of the four in our party ordered the meat lasagna. It had great favor and plenty of meat but was lukewarm. We had ordered extra sauce which was hot so that helped. We should have mentioned it to our server, our bad. The last two times we were in town and stopped in I will say I wish they would play Italian (Since it is an Italian Restaurant) or relaxing music instead of rap. This place exceeded my expectations! It was a very good chicken fettuccine Alfredo pasta that I got, the chicken was a little dry, and I actually couldn't finish all of it due to that. Came in last night at 5:45 with 5 adults and two kids, (4 and 1). Vacant tables were abundant but was told we'd have to wait until a table opened up. Sat there for over an hour before we were seated as numerous people came in and filled seating including a birthday party for about 20+ people. All the while we could see a table that seated ten right by the front door. When asked about utilizing the table the response was it had to be available just in case a larger party came. So we sat there and stared at the empty 10 top table not twenty feet from us for an hour until the party at the 8 top table right by the kitchen finally emptied. Food was barely warm when served and lacking flavor. All in all, we arrived at 5:45 and finally finished at 8pm after paying a lot for poor service and food. This restaurant has been a favorite of ours for years but it will be a while before going again. TaBella, you can do better! read more

I expressed my displeasure with the top manager and apparently Steve has not forgotten about it. I was called "a jerk" and "12 year old" by this manager. Just YUM! I have been looking for some good chicken piccata since a great Italian restaurant in Manhattan. This past week we traveled from St Augustine to Hattiesburg and after 4 other places, this was it. Folks that were not so appreciative did not order correctly. I ordered chicken piccata with naked spaghetti noodles and the Alfredo on the side. Next time I will just ask for extra piccata sauce. My husband had the steak Gorgonzola. Our only complaint was that we were unable to leave a larger tip! Only a 10% tip was added , we had no cash on us. We will be back soon! read more

We've not been here in forever and since Covid lockdown we've eaten inside a restaurant almost zero. But we had family in town and they wanted pasta. Wow! The service, food, cleanliness & attitudes of staff were all a 5plus rating. We were pleasantly impressed. We've returned several times now in the off times. So wish they were open on Sunday but i applaud them taking a day to rest. We're a habit forming couple and generally split entree and the big salad with the balsamic fig. Yum! My husband always ordered a pizza when in special if not the eggplant Parmesan. We've only had a good experience and will continue to enjoy as much as possible. read more

We had a fabulous and friendly waitress who took great care of us as we worked our way through apps, dinner and dessert. For apps we tried the fried ravioli and fried calamari. I'm not usually a huge calamari fan but just the look of these lightly fried bits had me trying them and they were delicious!! The ravioli were tasty as well in their classic form. For dinner I had the grilled salmon (I know, salmon at an Italian restaurant??) but it was perfectly cooked and seasoned and with an array of sides to choose from - a perfect entree. Perfect spot for a date night with the spouse, dinner with the kiddos, a client appointment - really any occasion. The food tastes so fresh and really gives your tastebuds a flavor explosion! Some of my favorites are the chicken puglia, salmon w/ shredded brussels sprouts, grilled tuna and any special they launch. The appetizers like Italian nachos, fried zucchini sticks and fried banana peppers are off the charts as well. Yesterday, I was invited to Tabella on a business luncheon. I was looking for something on the healthier side. I ordered the pecan crusted chicken with broccoli and asparagus. Man! Can I say that meal was amazing!!!!! This meal can be a hero or a zero depending on the chef. Well let me say, that chef rated as a HERO after that meal. It was so fresh and flavorful, I feel like they must have a garden out the back door. There is a difference anyone can tell when it is done right. I look forward to my next return visit. This was most likely the worst Italian restaurant I have ever eaten at! I should have left when mt first criteria for an Italian restaurant is having veal on the menu in some fashion...! No Veal! The complimentary bread with olive olive was disgusting. Upon research I found they use pure olive oil..yuck..nasty. I was going to get chicken picatta but it came with one chicken breast..and although it had a lemon sauce..the sides were spaghetti marinara or pasta al fredo..why not serve over angel hair with the sauce..I could have substituted green beans and fried potatoes..what?..I had the steak fillets with gorgonzolla and you guessed it..the sides were green beans and fried potatoes..SMH. For desert I had the warm chocolate souffle..and asked for coffee...the coffee had the smell of old sat around and then got microwaved .They should be ashamed. Five stars across the board. The atmosphere here is just the right balance of laid back and professional-if that makes sense! It had the balance that makes you know youre eating good, authentic and quality food with all the extra sense of needing to be proper at a nice restaurant. I always get the pizza when I come with a house salad-ask for the fig vinaigrette instead! Its a dollar upcharge but worth all four quarters. Ive come here many times but felt inclined to write a review saying to ask for Steven (stephen? One of the spellings) as your server. He is very knowledgeable about the menu and knows how to ring in all of my specifications. This is the best restaurant in Hattiesburg! The atmosphere is great and the owners are nice! My go to is the house salad with their homemade vinaigrette dressing either by itself or with salmon. The salmon is seasoned perfectly! On days that I need a little more I pair it with their authentic creamy tomato soup. My other go to meal here is the medallion steaks with the potatoes and asparagus. I love the cheese they use with this dish on the steaks. Great seasoning and size for the steaks! Last but not least I do love love love their chocolate soufflé and ice cream. I eat here multiple times a week for months. I have celiac disease and I'm new to the area. Upon researching I found raving reviews for the gluten free options at Tabella. It was so exciting to see at least 10 options for soup/salad and three columns with gluten free entrees! I got the chicken Parmesan with spaghetti marinara on the bottom, Caesar salad to start and a chocolate cake soufflé with vanilla bean ice cream for dessert!! Absolutely not. I travel a LOT; one of the first things I look for when I get to a new city is a decent Italian Restaurant. Maybe it's due to the fact that they emphasize healthy over tasteful, which is understandable, but I can genuinely say people who say that this is phenomenal with the Italian theme in mind, have never been to another Italian diner. The food wasn't completely terrible, but it was sub par for what it was supposed to be. The service is pretty timely, as our orders were quickly taken. My table started with appetizers, which consisted of Fried Mozzarella & Fried Ravioli. They weren't completely terrible, but once again they definitely were not up to expectation. Not long after, our entrees promptly came. I had the Mixed Grill, which was a trio combination of Veal, Chicken Parmesan, & Filet Mignon, over a Spinach Florentine. The plate was covered in Spinach, which along with the Alfredo(?) sauce, was actually not bad. Everything else however, was a disaster. The portions were beyond mediocre, & when I suggested to the waitress that she inform future patrons of this, she abruptly told me that I should have read the menu better because it said the portions were extremely small. After reviewing the menu again with the manager, it definitely did not indicate that. "You should have expected small portions when you read it was a combination." When I'm spending $30, I'm agreeing to disagree. Especially when Olive Garden has something similar with 4x the portion for half the price. The manager tried her best to resolute this, but the customer service on behalf of the general staff is completely trash. read more

Tabella, what are you doing?? Stick to what you know!! Today after church we let our 4 year old decide where she wanted to eat. She chose the "Apple". Since she started talking, she thinks the tomato is an apple outside. So, we obliged and went it. It's been a few months since we've been here and we first noticed new items on the menu. We decided to try these out. My wife wanted to try the Italian Guacamole. As soon as the waitress brought the guac to the table the image of it was extremely off-putting. Only thing worst than the image of it, was the taste. Basil, does not belong with guacamole...if it does, then it doesn't at Tabella. We looked at the burgers and thought...burgers at tabella?? i'm sure it's good. We've had the branch burger before so we assumed that it would be just as good as Branch. MAJOR disappointment. We both ordered it medium. Medium means there will be pink and juicy. My wife couldn't cut through the burger due to it being burned. Mine was the same way. The burger was extremely overcooked and dry. The management was extremely nice about the issue and made a concession. This is the only reason it received two stars. We aren't sure if we will be back, but want to make sure Tabella knows to KEEP TO WHAT YOU KNOW! Today was the most disappointed we've ever been with Tabella and any RSJ establishments. read more
