I am pretty sure someone's Nonna is definitely in the kitchen at Trattoria Pizzeria. The food is amazing prepared, the service makes you feel like family, and the place is so clean, that you can her own mother rushing you to clean the house before company gets there. I ordered the baked spaghetti, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The kind of dish that makes you pause halfway through the first bite and think, "Yep...this was the perfect choice." It tasted completely house-made, rich, comforting, and clearly prepared with the kind of love that usually comes from a kitchen where someone is yelling in Italian. The sauce, the pasta, the baked goodness on top--everything just worked. The wine list was also a pleasant surprise: great selection and very affordable. Nothing makes pasta happier than a good glass of wine that doesn't make your wallet cry. For dessert I went with the limoncello cake. While it wasn't house-made, it was still delicious--light, citrusy, and the perfect way to finish off a very satisfying meal. Here's the real kicker: the entire meal with wine was about $40 with my drink. In a world where mediocre pasta can somehow cost the same as a cell phone bill, this place delivers incredible value. It's not only the best quality Italian food I've found around here, it's easily one of the best meals I've had for the price. I hate that the terrible service ruined the experience because the food is good. Our party of 7 ordered 2 apps 3 pizzas and 2 pasta dishes all of which came at different times and temperatures. The wait to put drink orders in was over 15 minutes but there was a large party so we gave them grace on that & put in the drink and dinner order at the same time. Drinks came with the apps so at this point we're about 30-45 mins in. We never saw a server again. He's warm and welcoming and I guarantee he brings in his own numbers of customers. His skill in customer service and creating personal relationships are just a bonus to his expertise in bartending. I've traveled the world as a Flight attendant for American Airlines in my early 20's so I've had my fair share of cocktails. But Matt! I have never had a beverage where I could decipher absolutely every flavor that you're intended to taste. It's not just a drink that Matt whips up, it's a whole mouth experience. We have been several times for dine in and carry out and it has been a wonderful experience all the way around. This time, however, our service was very lacking. Our waitress never introduced herself, we saw her only for drink and food orders and the check. Never once did she check on us after delivering our meals and when we were ready for the check we had to get her attention. The food was amazing. My kids could not stop ranting and raving about it and even made sure to call out to the kitchen staff to let them know how good it was. I am unsure of it she was just having a bad day or what but she had no smile on her face nor pleasant disposition that would make me want to return to the establishment if it had been my first visit. It was my daughter's 16th birthday, and she wanted Italian. We chose Trattoria in downtown hattiesburg. We have been here before and the food was good, so we decided to revisit. We were extremely disappointed. Our server brought us our drinks. Then we did not see her until 10 minutes later. She took our food order and disappeared again. When my daughter's food came out, my husband's and mine food did not. The waitress came back 20 minutes later to say the kitchen was still working on our pizza. We were very frustrated with the situation and lack of communication, so we asked to speak to the manager. The waitress vanished only to reappear 10 minutes later to say the manager was in his office. We told her that since we still did not have our pizza, we no longer wanted it. We just wanted to pay for the spaghetti and drink then leave. We were told the manager would have to take the pizza off the bill. We went last night for the first time and were pretty sure we found the best tasting pizza in Hattiesburg. The sauce and cheese went well together- most places have either really good sauce but fake tasting cheese or real cheese with a bitter sauce. The downside to our visit was the service. Upon walking in, we weren't sure whether to wait to be seated or sit ourselves somewhere as there wasn't anyone at the host stand and servers were in the back somewhere (no sign displayed either telling us what to do). Our server was polite and attentive. First, the warm bread with the marinara sauce is top tier! Just. So. Good! It makes the whole place smell wonderful. They were pretty busy and it took about 30 minutes to get the order. We tried the Trattoria pizza. They were out of arugula so we didn't get the full effect, but the crust was amazing.
