Always just about 2 hours, which is amazing since I have a big boy-other groomers have taken close to 5 hours! My boy has never come home with any cuts and Freddy always keeps him super cute. TYSM to Cece!! My v nervous basset hound was wayyyyy due for a bath. She really did not want to go back to the grooming salon so both the front of the house team member and Cece (the groomer) got some treats to coax her back and spoke very sweetly to her. Ultimately, the suggested that I walk back there with her before they got to work. I was so impressed with how much they took my pupper's comfort into account and how the validated her dramatic behavior. Penny came out in an adorable valetines kerchief, smelling soooooo clean! She was a little damp because she did NOT like the dryer so, rather than push her, they did some work with the dryer and some had drying well. Headed over to Tabby and Jacks in Fitchburg. accoding to the web they carried the treats my dogs crave and the prices seemed cometetive. When I got there - the store was clean, someone was manning the register and there was only one other customer... I found a second treat that my dogs would enjoy before I found the target treats - Higher in price than I thought I had seen but ok as a stop gap for us... I got in line and waited and waited... a very long time, even after the prior customer had paid they continued talking - No end in site... Eventually I had to go to my stop, I had run out of time - I did place the one treat back in the freezer... I just dont have unlimited time, not even being acknowledged when I came in the store, browsing in the store or owhen in line to pay or as I was walking out didnt leave me with a good feeling. The store had great selection but its not a business - its a hobby for who ever is running it. I cannot recommend them...They got two stars for their selction and their cleanliness. My dog has been groomed there for-the last couple of years. I have had several groomers and they all do a nice job. He loves his pampering.

I love this place. They have a great selection of healthy food and treats and very knowledgeable and helpful, friendly staff. I used to have a Brussels Griffon which can be a hard dog to find a good groomer for but Maia did a terrific job and just made her so pretty. My current dog loves to come here and poke around the treat section. It's also easy to get to and find parking which I also love. Definitely recommend Tabby and Jacks read more

Went in for a toy for my dog, and while they didn't have what I was looking for (a durable chewable nylabone type product), the gal working checkout was really friendly and helped me look, and checked in the back, and even recommended a similar type product if I wanted a durable toy. I was still surprised they didn't carry anything of the nylabone sort (hence the 4 stars) Ended up going with a different toy instead, they carry a nice selection of tough plushies that can weather rough dogs pretty well (although I can't speak to their ability to stand up to the insane chewers out there). Haven't bought food from them, but they seems to have a decent selection of "healthy" food brands, as well as fun healthy treats for dogs. Have not tried their grooming service read more

Today was my first visit here -- we got a gift card and I decided to explore! This is a lovely pet boutique stocked with food, treats, accessories and all kinds of pet goodies. They had several people picking up pets, and I know they also do grooming; they looked lovely to me! The associate who helped me was really nice, they do pick up and prepare orders for people who want to stay in their cars. They carry really high quality food and awesome wool toys for cats, which is great since my cats are obsessed with those wool felted toys. I'll definitely visit Tabby & Jack's again! read more

We started bringing our dogs here for grooming in 2013 and they have been well cared for by their groomer. At times going above and beyond to provide special care for one of our pups who is traumatized. Unfortunately as this pet store has added several locations the quality of people working in the front has diminished to the point where we are done. Too many situations where staff gave wrong information, didn't process orders for dog food or mishandled appointments. This was our go-to pet place, not anymore. Growing too fast without having well trained staff has worn us out. read more

We stockpiled on supplies at the start of the COVID-19 quarantine, including cat food and litter. But when the safe-at-home order got extended we quickly realized we didn't have enough supplies! We started googling to see who might deliver or offer curbside pickup. Although we did find most of what we needed on Amazon, the prices were astronomical and delivery times were over a week! Tabby and Jacks not only had what we needed in stock but also at much more reasonable prices. Plus they offer free delivery on any order great than $50! I tried to buy two dog treats that were in a box labeled $4.99. The clerk at the Monona store on May 10th rang them up at $5.99 so I told her the box said $4.99. Her comment was that the price must have changed. She would not change the price so I very politely told her I used to work in retail and know that you have to honor the labeled price. She then said " I'm aware" but didn't offer to sell them to me. I asked if she was planning to sell them to me and she marched off with the treats and put them back in the box. This is no way to run a business. I love to shop for my fur babies and think of myself as a kind person but I will not be going back. read more

Three times I have arrived for a confirmed appointment that they claim wasn't in their system and was turned away. The latest instance, I called to cancel an appointment and was still charged the no-show $40. This business feels more focused on scams than providing good pet services. read more

We absolutely love this place. With three Terriers, it's been indispensable to us over the years for supplies and advice. I also highly recommend their groomers. An extra bonus is doggy daycare on site. When our female Westie got old (17) we would occasionally take her with the other dogs to day care here and they would very kindly let her stay up at the front register sometimes because she didn't always do well with all the hullabaloo in back. I stopped in today with the doggy...It was our first visit. We both really enjoyed browsing the store (although it's possible one of us had a WAY better time!) I was impressed with the selection of healthy, high quality treats. Rose was primarily impressed with the smells. We weren't shopping for food, but it looked like they have some great options. Good customer service. At first I thought it was strange not to be greeted when we walked in. It's hard to see the counter from the door, but when we got closer, I realized there was a line waiting to check out. Good pet snacks with good ingredients are never cheap, but Tabby + Jacks has very decent prices. Rose and I will definitely be back. They have a rewards program. I'm not sure how likely it is that I'll reach the amount necessary to get a reward, but there's no cost to join, so there's no downside! read more

The grooms were not consistent. The first few were okay-although my dog was never ready at the time they specified for pick up. The last groom was awful. The groomer did not listen to the instructions and my dog looked ridiculous. The owner was not empathetic to my displeasure. I no longer go here. read more

Good selection of products but they do not stand by what they sell. Bought a godog ropetek chew toy and was assured it was durable. It cost $20.99. Only lasted a few minutes with our 30 lb 7 month old puppy. I took it back the next day and they refused the return saying they did not accept returns on toys. They said I had to contact the manufacturer. While I understand that no toy is indestructible, given the short duration of use the price and the assurance that the toy was durable, perhaps Tabby and Jacks should rethink their policy Anyway, plenty of pet stores and then there is Amazon as well. I brought my senior greyhound in last week for a "Pampered Pooch Package" that I bid on at a fundraiser at DCHS. Rather than being pampered Daisy came home stressed out and bleeding. On her back paws the inner nails are quite stubby and do not grow anymore. One of these inner nails seemed to be cut in half! None of the other nails showed any evidence of being trimmed at all. The nail was caked with that yellow powder, I suppose to stop the bleeding. It did not. She bled all over the place for hours. I know accidents happen but none of this was even mentioned to me. The girl at the desk just said: "she's all ready to go home". Also, 2 days later we found a big cotton ball jammed into one of her ears. We are not impressed with your business or the service provided. read more

We stopped in this weekend because we've been having trouble with our Aussie's diet. He doesn't care for the food they fed at the shelter (lamb and rice from mounds), nor the kirkland chicken and rice. In addition to not wanting to eat, he has had some gastrointestinal issues on both, and seems to have some allergies that have gotten worse on the chicken and rice (lots of paw chewing and licking). I asked the employee for help, and she did ask for me to wait to check someone out (which I thought was okay). But then she loaded us up with like 5 or 6 different free samples of a variety of foods with different protein sources and some grain free. They had a good selection of grooming stuff and other supplies, but were maybe a bit pricier than like mounds or blain's farm and fleet. But, given how helpful they were, I'd probably spend a bit more to support them. read more

Review for the grooming only: As for groomer's in the area, I find Tabby & Jacks to be exactly what I'm looking for. I have a English Bulldog who needs some special care with his wrinkles and folds. I enjoy that I can drop him off with the groomer of my choice, come back in an hour and see him smelling & looking pristine (even if it only lasts for a few days). My favorite groomer that I've had has been a girl named Kelsey. She does a great job with my dog, Tully Monster. Every time I have come to pick up Tully after his grooming, I walk in to find him with a brand new bandana around his neck and a big smile on his face. They usually have Tully sitting next to the counter with the cashier because he behaves very well, and frankly....is kind of slow moving, so does not cause a commotion (other than the patrons of the store flocking to him because he is so damn friendly & cute). I've had the nail trimming done, but would like to stay neutral on this topic because Tully has somewhat hard to clip nails, for this I'll refrain from 5 stars because of this. As for pricing, I think they are on par for what I have ever received. They have been nothing but kind to my dog and have treated him just like a little kid. I enjoy knowing that I can trust them with him every time. read more

Fabulous pet store with a great variety, including a large selection of raw frozen foods for cats and dogs. When I told the owner my dog's diet needs, she was able to help me pick a food, and keeps it in stock for me even though I'm the only person I think who buys it. Every time we've been in for grooming has been great, too. The groomers are cheerful, super prompt (my dog is always done early), friendly, and do a wonderful job. (Full disclosure: my dog has short fur, so it's more of a bath then any trimming or styling for him.) read more

Caitlyn was the groomer of our cocker spaniel, and she did a wonderful job. We have been customers before and specifically requested her. When we went back to pick her up, we were told someone else had already paid and picked up our dog. Our pup was found several minutes later. How can this happen? Front desk person could not find us in the system - no record whatsoever. I talked by phone with another staff person, the manager. No apology was given, and we were told by both the owner and manager "Whats your problem, you have the dog. Any credit we give you will only hurt the groomer." The owner yelled at me, told I was being "absurd, ridiculous" and hung up on me. It turns out there is no licensing or accreditation for groomers or pet boarding the state of WI. read more

I came here for the first time this past weekend for the small dog playgroup. I was so impressed! They have a room in the back surrounded by a fence where my dog and other small dogs are able to mingle for an hour on Saturdays at 9 AM for only $3! They also have a large dog playgroup at 10 AM. My dog had an absolute blast. There were about 13 dogs and everyone's dog was really well behaved. I appreciated all of the chairs set-up in a circle in the play area. There was plenty of water, and best of all, they had someone who cleaned up all of the messes the dogs made! This was huge for me considering I'm 8.5 months pregnant. $3 is such a steal for an indoor playdate where you don't have to lift a finger. My dog and I will most certainly be back! read more

I've taken my black lab here a few times and they did pretty well the first time, second time they didn't cut her nails and the third time they must have just thrown some water on her and called it a day. Was a little disappointed with the grooming of my cat. I normally go to the west petsmart but there were scheduling complications and I had to get this done before my friends came into town. First it is $25 more expensive, they do a waterless bath which is far inferior to a normal bath. I told her my cat was fine with them but the groomer refused. I also had a lions cut done, not for style reasons, but for hair and dander reasons as my guests have allergies. The shave was uneven, I found numerous nicks and scabs on her skin and they did not trim around the anal opening or clean that area. I am sure that would have been another $20. Will not be returning. read more

An awesome place to get all your pet supplies. You can get really good deals on canned food (10% off if you buy a case), and toys and treats are priced very fairly. Took my 3 month shi Tzu here for second time. I wasn't impressed with the puppy service, my puppy felt stressed and scared after the service. Also the trimmed my puppy received on his head was too short. The toe nails were not clipped properly as there were still a toe nails on each paws that was not clipped. BE CAREFUL WITH GROOMING. My first few experiences with the staff (daycare, buying supplies, etc.) were great and I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, but when I received my beautiful long-haired Native American Indian Dog back from grooming it was a nightmare. 1) Her appt. was 1 1/2 hrs. past the scheduled time, but, hey, things happen. 2) The cost was TWICE of what I was quoted when I dropped her off which is insane because their prices are among the highest, but, things happen. 3) She still had numerous matts and had to be brought right back in, but....things happen? 4) Within the next 24 hrs my dog stopped eating/drinking and had a fever. I had to pour water into her mouth just to keep her hydrated and in my attempts to put her in a bath to cool her off (my vet suggested this behavior might be due to heat) we discovered she was completely covered in horrible sores. At the groomer, I was recommended to try a de-shedding bath (FURminator) so I called Tabby & Jacks to ask if it could be an allergic reaction and a CERTIFIED GROOMER said that the shampoo could burn the skin if left on too long. 5) A vet verified the chemical burns, which developed a serious secondary infection. Upon calling Tabby & Jack we were told that they hire PROFESSIONALS, so of course they couldn't be responsible. Wasn't it much more likely that I didn't realize that she had this skin condition before we brought her in? Really? You think I didn't notice that my dog wasn't eating or drinking and was oozing from dozens of wounds? From previous yelp posts, the manager clearly tries to bully unknowing owners into accepting the maltreatment of their pets and should be ashamed. Our calls were continuously avoided until the owner called us. We demanded a refund because of the disrespect, avoidance of responsibility, and blatant malpractice. We were told that they would pay for the vet bills, cut our grooming bill in half, and give our dog a skin treatment to help her heal better, but on the day we were scheduled to come in the owner was not present and the manager did not respect what we were told. In fact, we were refused a refund b/c they didn't want to 'hurt the groomer'. I'm sorry, but I gave your groomer a 20% tip on a $150 bill to have her seriously endanger the life of my dog so I don't think I care what's going to hurt your groomer. As a business, if you make a mistake then you need to eat the cost and take preventative measures to ensure the safety of the animals that come into your store. The manager did treat one of the worst sores and gave us a check for the vet bills, but only after we continuously refused what appeared to be bribes to not suing. It was clear they were not apologetic and just wanted to get rid of us. Her vet bill was a DIRECT CONSEQUENCE of your groomers incompetence (that's harsh because she really was a nice lady and I'm sure she usually does ok, but given the intensity of the burns I really don't have any other word for it) so I don't consider covering the antibiotics recompense for what happened. I hope someone from the store reads this and lets your owner know that we're still waiting for a call from her (you know exactly who this is and our number so use it). When I first discovered what happened, all I wanted was an apology and some guidance on how to help my dog, who is still on antibiotics and recovering from this grievous misconduct. This incident may or may not be indicative of the norm, but the fact of the matter remains that you are directly responsible for the injury of an animal who was entrusted to your care and I find your handling of the issue appalling and even downright embarrassing considering you claim to be an establishment that specializes in holistic care for pets. Your reaction to this situation is what I would expect from a third rate, back alley pet store and I will never be coming back. My dogs have already started the enrollment process at another daycare that makes good on its promises because if this is how you treat your customers (pets and humans) in one aspect of your business then I'm not waiting to find out what will happen in the future. All in all, to future yelpers considering this business and even grooming in general- you know your pet and don't let a single person tell you something is your fault or that "it's normal" when you know otherwise. Speak up and don't shut up until you get the answers you're looking for. read more

Both of my dogs- a 4 pound yorkie and 8 year old bichon/yorkie mix have only been groomed at Tabby and Jacks. I love that I can drop them off and pick up in an hour and that they never have to wait in a kennel. The groom is always impeccable and they smell delicious. It may be more pricey that other big box stores but Tabby and Jacks offers a quiet and stress free space for my dogs. Their are two private groom rooms with two tables in each so your dog is not in a large room full of other dogs. On groomer handles your dog from finish to start and your dog is hand blown dry, not cage dried. read more

Let me start by saying that my wife is the "crazy pet person" in our house. However, about two years ago I mentioned that we should try Tabby & Jacks instead of the larger "box" pet supply store that we were using. A typical experiience is that we would walk into the store pick up our Fromm dog food and walk out. When we stopped at Tabby & Jacks, they asked us about our pets, our food, and other questions about nutrition. We stayed with the same food and we were happy. Then we got George, a rescue special ( a real fixer upper). This dog (Basset/Lab mix) had coat issues, skin problems, ear problems and he stunk. Mandy was great we talked about food and supplements and we settled for a food within our budget. We never pressured to buy-up. Mandy and the other staff at Tabby & Jacks are great because we just don't walk in and grab food and leave we also take advantage of their knowledge of food, nutrition and social behavior while we are checking out. I like going to store where people seemed happy to be working there!!! Although people state in the reviews that they are a little more expensive than the bigger box stores, I found that if you join the mailing lists you are made aware of monthly specials and other offers that make this store more affordable than the bigger chains. The staff all rally around me and pet me. The tell me how handsome I am. I eat nothin' but the best food. It was the owner Michelle that helped my Mom get me on the holistic foods and raw diet. My coat is so pretty and best of all, I just got a "spa bath" from Michelle herself. She suds me all up with chemical free shampoo and conditioner and you should smell me now.. She was so gentle and nice to me, I didn't get scared at all. If you need some good tasting food and some great pampering, have your Mom take you to Tabby & Jacks.
